Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on September 30, 2022September 30, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SPECKLES was huge last start behind Special Sort in a race that contained handy maiden types like Boy Blue and Manhattan Strip. Prior to that finished off nicely behind Anna’s Boy. Backs up off 7 days, draws a softer gate and strikes a field that is at least two or three lengths inferior to what she raced against last weekend. TRUEVINSKY looks the logical danger. Finished fourth behind Arcadia Star firs-tup at 1200 and then 11 days later immediately steps out to a mile. If he runs the trip, he’s a big danger. MAXIMUM IMPACT is a 17 start maiden but has found a winnable race. Ran well enough behind George Gently. ALLEGIANCE can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SPECKLES WIN RACE 2 UPPER LIMITS, SENTIMENTAL BELLE, EX SPORT GIRL, AMELIA’S TRUST, CRUISE TO VICTORY with special mentions to the majority of other runners. This is a who’s who of recent trial black bookers and should be a great form reference over the next few weeks. Thinking that from the barrier UPPER LIMITS will sit up over the speed and love the way he trialled. His only run last preparation produced a third behind Top Of The Pops (undefeated in four) and Vampi At Play (beat Sentimental Belle). Hard to fault. SENTIMENTAL BELLE has always had a big following and while the barrier hurts it is probably how we’ll ultimately see her ridden into the future. She’s sharp. EX SPORT GIRL trialled super but will need an ounce of luck. CRUISE TO VICTORY has X-Factor but tends to get back in running. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – UPPER LIMITS WIN RACE 3 STREET WISE RED is quick. Thinking that Brad Parnham will burn early and look for the fence and then try to fend them off late. Jumps off Timely Advice to stick with the Ryan Hill debutante and if the Upper Limits form stacks up in the previous then he’ll look a big chance. GIVEMEONEREASON was plunged into $1.75 at his return to racing and was only narrowly defeated on the post when beaten by Exceltrain. Basil’s Dream is already a winner out of that race and Simon Miller goes straight for the blinkers. Clearly above average type. TIMELY ADVICE was a huge drifter on debut. The market was all over the fact she was destined to do it tough. Big effort to keep kicking. CITY ANGEL is going well. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – STREET WISE RED EACHWAY RACE 4 BERNBRAE was a super run on debut when finishing off hard behind Saloon Bar and Hooah Havana. Didn’t get much luck in the home straight but was still making noticeable ground. The first trial under Renee Forrest was actually quite good when beaten a margin. Drawn to get a gun run. BIRKETT BOY was able to match motors with Sentimental Belle for the majority of the home straight in his recent trial. Think he’ll be winning sooner rather than later. THE COLLECTOR was a big trial winner but a huge drifter on debut (due to the slow time of the trial likely?) and was never in the mix. YES OF COURSE went around short first-up and was only fair. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – BERNBRAE WIN RACE 5 LINDEN LADY finished third behind Sesswa and Malkar Pindari in a sharp 1100m 3 year old maiden. The 3yo maidens at this time of year are lengths better than the All-Age maidens so happy to follow them as form references and so from the inside draw second-up Linden Lady goes on top. Think she’ll position up and takes beating. SECRET IDENTITY is bursting to win a race and had to do it a bit too tough last week at Northam behind Parlons and Starchienne. PEARLY NUGGET won a Lark Hill trial nicely and then was well in the market on debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY. Did a few things wrong but can be an improver with experience. FROST DAVID was excellent fresh. Numbers: 11 – 7 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – LINDEN LADY WIN Same Race Multi – Linden Lady (Top 2) + Secret Identity (Top 3) RACE 6 HINT OF MINT has her first start in WA for new trainer Neville Parnham. All four career wins have been either first-up or second-up and while Brad Parnham had his hands full at trials (laid inwards throughout) she still hit the line well. Comes out of some quality races for a C5 including running fifth at Bendigo in the Gold Bracelet. Speed on suits her, big watch. CHEERFUL MOMENT is clearly ready to win, however, this race has a stack of speed with Run D’Affaire Run, Sea Waif, Violation and Rock Of Kaha also capable of rolling forward. RUN D’AFFAIRE RUN is simply not an apprentices or Belmont horse. Can bounce back. AVALON BAY capable. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HINT OF MINT WIN RACE 7 LAQUETTA’S GIFT was able to hold out a nice galloper in Field of Battle last Sunday at Northam when breaking her maiden. Gets in with only 54.5kg after the claim for Keshaw Dhurun. Looks like rolling straight to the top and controlling the tempo and from there she can give a big kick on straightening. CHERRY CAN RUN can sit leader’s back and from there that’s a nice position in running for her. TELL NOTHIN’ is a stayer first-up who can sprint well and is drawn to get a midfield run. SOFIA’S SYMPHONY is really well placed by the flying Team Pearce. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – LAQUETTA’S GIFT WIN RACE 8 SESSWA looks a sharp filly. Fourth on debut behind Top Of The Pops, Demolish and Goddess of Giving. Followed it up with a second behind Swear To God and Miss Drakova. Soft trial leading into her first-up victory beating Malkar Pindari and Linden Lady. Barrier is sticky but the speed will be on here. FIORUCCI MAMA will be looking to cross from the outside gate and if she can find the fence she’ll be hard to run down. SAASMIT was well backed first-up and ran a ripper. DOES HE KNOW gets a gun run. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – SESSWA WIN RACE 9 SURVEILLANCE was huge last start, for all the wrong reasons. Northam Mile two starts ago (with Keshaw Dhurun) was an all the way winner when leading, rolling and dominating. Then went to a C3 at Belmont Park and absolutely nothing went right at any stage for poor Luke Campbell who was forced to do it tough and march wide throughout. Thought he did a huge job to only be beaten 2.75L. Hard to trust but runs for Dhurun. SESSIONS PEAK was the big beneficiary in the same race when taking the sit on them as they went mad in front. Was winning a long way out. ENGLISH HERITAGE is really honest and consistent. CENSURE is flying. Just need to see her consistently jump. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SURVEILLANCE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,4 1,3,6,7 1,7,8 1,2,4,7 Market Market
