Scott Embry’s Sunday Mount Barker Preview Posted on January 15, 2021January 15, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 REBEL MAN trialled up nicely at Albany last weekend on Fitzpatrick Plate Day. Only had the one outing as a juvenile and ran well enough when sixth behind Miss Ivy League, Powerful and Ghobella. Should be there abouts in a fairly evenly graded maiden. YAMATJI MAN was double nominated for Geraldton and Barker. With Geraldton likely to be called off Rusty Stewart has showcased a rare talent for a Collingwood Supporter; foresight and intelligence. Trialled like he would be winning races. LITTLE SES had no luck first-up and the trial was also impressive. MY NAME’S STAR is tiny and limited but ran well fresh. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – REBEL MAN WIN RACE 2 WARM N FUZZY has been disappointing after a very impressive trial at Belmont. Went under first-up when pulling extremely hard and fading late. Second-up looked all at sea down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra. Now to Mt Barker he can jump and run and prove hard to beat in a lesser class of maiden. CITY CRUISER trialled nicely at Belmont on 21 December. That trial contained Fiery Bay and has held up as a trial form reference. Just needs an ounce of luck from the draw. ADRASTEA went alight at her return to racing. BIG SWOOP ran a better race last start. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – WARM N FUZZY WIN RACE 3 JOVELLA looks really well placed by Neville Parker into a C2 (47+). C3 provincial races are far stronger than what she meets here and with a few gear changes looks the one they all have to beat. Kyra Yuill can roll forward from the gate and put her right into the race. Two starts ago finished within 2L of Babytino and Mood Goddess. Great form for this. MISSALFIE has shown glimpses of ability throughout her career. Looks a nice race for her if she sees out the trip. AMBER HIGHWAY can probably cross them if Nicol wants. DANCING JACK is only a maiden but ran a ripper last week. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – JOVELLA WIN RACE 4 KENNEDY has to lump 61.5kg but only three starts ago was placed in a 60+ Graduation at Belmont Park. This is a lowly c58+ and his first-up effort was good down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra behind Cockyjoy. That race rated through the roof and they smashed the clock. SECRET ASSAULT beat him home in that race and looks the obvious danger on paper. Drawn the inside gate, capable of leading and is still racing brilliantly as a 9 year old. Match race on paper. FEARLESS GENERAL goes 5L better fresh than any other part of the prep. JENJA is capable but maybe not racing at his best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – KENNEDY WIN RACE 5 CLASSIC ROGUE ran fifth first-up when getting back from a wide gate. Looked to be absolutely bolting behind heels when held up the entire until the race was all over. Drawn a far better gate here, previous second-up winner and Peter Hall sticks. Everything points to him making up for it and bouncing back. SWIFT MIRAGE is talented but must have a few issues behind the scenes. Mitch Pateman rides for Uncle Paul and if he is at his best, he should be hard to beat. UNDER THE ARCHES is always a chance this grade. MAGNUSON MAN seems to have improved in the last 3 months. Racing well. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC ROGUE WIN RACE 6 BIG BADA BOOM toyed with them last week. Sowar did sit three and four deep from the 1000m and arguably should have run past him but they had the others covered with absolute ease. 3L back to the third horse and a lot of opponents beat at the top of the straight. Looks progressive and Roy Rogers is training winners for fun at the minute. BLUE TURNS TO GREY finally broke through after running into more bridesmaids than Darren McAuley. Holly Watson starting to ride a few winners. COCKY ED is never far from the action. FUEL THE FRIAR was running on well enough behind Big Bada Boom. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BIG BADA BOOM WIN RACE 7 HYPERSPACE looked awfully unlucky last start. Lucy Warwick was zigging and zagging her way through the field and unable to secure clear running on multiple occasions down the straight. The head on would have given Daren McAuliffe cold sweats. Drops in grade, drops in trip and draws a gate to sit close handy. Knocking on the door. LOSING TICKET is the track distance specialist and will always take beating over 1800/1900. MOOD GODDESS was disappointing last start. Looking for this trip and beyond. WAR KSAR can improve with Pateman going on. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – HYPERSPACE WIN RACE 8 FLOW is perfectly placed by the astute Martin Allan yard. Only 4 horses in this year’s Mungrup are within the handicap and from barrier 3 he should enjoy the run of the race. Mitch Pateman rides him particularly well and his second placings to Dance Music in the Northam Cup and Truly Great in the RJ Peters read up as perfect form for this. On weights and measures he really should be favourite (but with Pike on one I bet he doesn’t open fav). TAWNY PETE is dynamite fresh and if McNaught can cross to the fence the big boy will give them all something to catch. SKINNEN TINS is flying but Ash Maley risks 15 odd ratings points if victorious. Racing a long way outside the handicap. BATTLE HERO might have the grandstand but this is good race selection. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – FLOW WIN RACE 9 MEGADON has been a different horse since joining Ash Maley. Racing consistently and looks to be very well placed in this race. At 1300m for the first time but has always looked the kind of horse who needs further than 1200 and less than 1400m. In theory this will suit him down to the ground and the Mt Barker locals get the chance to jump on the Pike train in the last. SAUVEGARDE is going well for the new yard and from the inside gate Pateman can lead or box seat. Looks the danger. OXBRIDGE and WAR CLASS are last start winners who can go on with it now. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – MEGADON WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1 1,2,3,4,6,8,9 1,2,3,11,12 2,4,7,8 Market Market
