Scott Embry’s Sunday Mount Barker Preview Posted on February 17, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAFE RAPPA finished fourth on debut behind Starcheinne (winner of three from three this preparation) and then finished a narrow second to stablemate Lot Hot. From the inside draw he should be going close to breaking through. MINE HOST resumes and in his three runs as a 2 year old he was far from disgraced behind better types than he meets here. Trial win was strong too. ROSE OF DENMARK went close in the same Lot Ho race as Safe Rappa. There isn’t much at all between them and she should nearly cross to the rail again. THE ILLUSIONIST showed plenty of speed in his Jimmy Taylor days. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – SAFE RAPPA WIN RACE 2 SNEAKY FOX is stepping into c70+ company and gets weight off his back. Finished second to stablemate Dark Assault in this grade at Barker four starts back before finishing second to Trevello and then winning a 58+ at $1.90. Went to town last start in a 0MWLY over 1400m and was there until the last 75m beaten by Aiyza. Love the way he’s racing. BLUE LINE is back to somewhere near his best and down to the 55kg limit he’s found another winnable race. Meets Sir Snugalot 2kg better for a narrow defeat. MORGS FREEMAN has won two 70+ races in his last five. No slouch and goes well fresh. MINI WINNIE looking to recapture his best. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – SNEAKY FOX WIN RACE 3 GOD’S MOMENT is a 6-year-old mare who has only had a handful of races. Since breaking her maiden on Boxing Day she’s finished fourth to Chad’s Me Dad and subsequent winner Bentley Beau, won a C1 by over a length and run into handy stablemate Rocapozzene. Going super. LOT HO was strong late in his maiden win and is more than capable of going back to back with even luck. ROGUE’S POINT has had two starts for Anthony Barton and both have been rippers. Great to see him finally win another race. STAR SOPRANO is out to 1300m which is an unknown but his latest effort when meeting with significant early backing was a distinct improvement. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – GOD’S MOMENT WIN RACE 4 NAUGHTY GOSSIP will need to keep them within striking distance in the early and middle stages because between Lucrative Lucy, Squillionaire, Mrs Kangaroo and Ibiza they could go very quick. She’s a progressive little filly and if she settles close enough in running looks to have a strong turn of foot. SQUILLIONAIRE measured up in a C3 at Belmont last start behind Wednesday and Regal Access. LUCRATIVE LUCY has had a month between runs and is an on speed type who will keep kicking. SO SWAY had his first start for Anthony Barton and finished off nicely into third behind Nights Mystery and subsequent winner Sir Snugalot. Needs luck from a wide draw but has retuned well. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – NAUGHTY GOSSIP WIN RACE 5 CHOOSE TO CRUISE finished third behind Three Eze and Taxi at Barker two starts ago and then fifth behind Bentley Beau (beaten 4.4L). Remarkably this C1 is so thin that it looks the best form reference. FAIRDELICOUS could be any old price. Her run two starts ago behind Ocean Aura was a ripper at 100-1. Forget she went around last start back to a mile. Needs every inch of this 1850. This is actually winnable for her. O’LARA’S PRINCE hasn’t fired a solitary shot in two runs back. They don’t get weaker than this so no surprise to see him bounce back. FLY BETTER is 1240 out to 1850. Set a task. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – CHOOSE TO CRUISE WIN RACE 6 BLAISZEN CAZAH has been going well all preparation. Won a 46+ at Narrogin, a 52+ at Narrogin and then has most recently finished only 1.5L off Big Swoop in a Belmont 0MWLY. This looks a winnable ace for him from the inside draw. RECAPITULATE showed something last start. If he can kick through to hold the top, he’ll take running down. MR MT WALKER was heavily pressured to lead last start and is known more as a horse who races with cover. Forgive and forget. HOIST THE COLOURS is versatile and can be ridden on speed or off speed. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – BLAISZEN CAZAH WIN RACE 7 DEEL RED is a really nice country Cups horse. Improved sharply first-up to second-up and can roll across from his wide draw to settle up over the speed. These Mt Barker Cups can change complexion really quickly with mid-race moves but with Artie’s Comet drawn underneath him they should roll along at a genuine clip and avoid being attacked mid-race. ONE POINT LADY looks to be hitting form at the right time. Her run three starts ago behind Speedy Miss was luckless, her run two starts ago was solid in a muddlingly run race and then she finished second to Let’sdeal most recently who is better than your average c64+ animal. Gets in on the minimum and looks like she’ll stay the trip. BRAVE CONTENDER has hit form at the right time. MORTON’S FORK is getting closer. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – DEEL RED WIN RACE 8 ANOTHER DEMON has been building towards another win in Esperance. Finished only 1L off Baby Blues in a 54+ three starts back and hasn’t had a lot of luck since. After the ZJP claim has only 52.5kg and races up on speed and stays out of trouble. ZAC LUVS TO FLY is double nominated for Saturday at Pinjarra and Sunday at Mt Barker. This is far more suitable for him. NINETYONE DWYER has been competitive in metro and provincial C3 level of recent times. Drawn ideally and deserves to break through and win another one. TRADEM’IN took no part in the Mt Barker Sprint. This race is about 8L weaker. Don’t discount even with the weight. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – ANOTHER DEMON EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,7,8,9 1,2,3,4 1,3,4,5,6 1,2,3,5,8 Market Market
