Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on May 17, 2025May 19, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TREASURED QUEEN was 2/2 at Kalgoorlie before being sent down to Perth. Last preparation very little went right, she over-raced, she got forced wide, she did a few things wrong and ultimately she was below her best. First-up, no trial, back to Kal and Lucy Fiore riding 54kg on a Sunday. Yes please. HIGH PRESSURE was a super win last start after being slowly away and still rounding them all up from last. PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC is consistently there abouts but the handicapper has got hold of him now. BAALBEK will improve quickly into the prep. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – TREASURED QUEEN WIN RACE 2 WITCHY WOODS is a one paced animal but did go for home before acceptances last start and was run down in the final strides. Brandon Louis has ridden him previously and there’s nothing in terms of new additions to the race field that really jumps off the page as a massive threat. He’s no star but he’s good enough and fit enough to win this. SWEET EYES was a bit keen in that same race but still finished over 2L behind Witchy Woods. ICANDOIT ONMYWON dropped out badly in that event after being well supported (again). QUEEN OF CHAOS was held up badly two back then covered ground last start. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – WITCHY WOODS WIN RACE 3 KARNUP QUEEN looks to have found the perfect race in which to break through. First-up ran a fast finishing second to Cheryl’s Shout in a race where they went over 6L quicker than maiden average and then second-up she ran third behind Magnifera. Went to a 3 year old Saturday last start and got beaten 11L but that field was also 20L better than these! ADMIRATION BAY only peaked on her run late first-up and derives fitness benefit. SNAKERATTLE’N’ROLL joins the powerful strike rate yard of J.A Robins. AWEEMAWAY always finds one better. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – KARNUP QUEEN WIN RACE 4 DREAM BROOK comes up in grade but gets weight relief, gets Lucy Fiore and gets a map to stalk what looks to be an extreme speed (Sure Thing, Love Drunk Baby and Dreamtime Jean). SURE THING paddled late and was gobbled up by highly impressive winner Treble Maker who heads to the $100,000 Provincial Final at Belmont on Saturday as favourite. LUVE DRUNK BABY is a 64+ winner and 70+ placed dropping back in grade. DREAMTIME JEAN won a C3 at Bunbury last preparation before finishing less than 1L off them in a Grandstand Cup. That’s excellent race form for a 58+ at Kalgoorlie. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – DREAM BROOK WIN RACE 5 SCIENCE DEGREE resumed with a dominant 1L all the way win in a C1 1100 before going around at $4.40 in the Provincial Championship Heat behind the likes of Treble Maker, Sure Thing and Secret Attire. Back into C2 company and a great use of the 3kg claim for Rocky Cheung which will only get more popular throughout the season. Barrier an obvious concern but he’s got ability and upside. THATSTHEWAYILIKEIT has been getting back and running home hard at each run this preparation. JUST SUBLIME broke her maiden like a filly who could go on with it. DUBLIN RED gets Lucy back. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SCIENCE DEGREE WIN RACE 6 RYEWOOD has been building all preparation and now gets arguably the most in form rider in Western Australia (yes that includes Pike) in Lucy Fiore. First-up 1400m with an apprentice – luckless; second-up 1600m with an apprentice – found trouble early and got home powerfully late. Third-up senior rider. Keen. SCOTTISH LAIRD has returned to Kalgoorlie in exceptional order winning his last two. Ryewood gets him this time though. SANTA BRAE might not be an apprentices horse because he needs some riding but is a nice horse for the region going forwards. FEUDING heads to Kalgoorlie and wasn’t horrible last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – RYEWOOD WIN RACE 7 MILITARY ACTION is a Kalgoorlie 1400m specialist. His C1 win was outrageously good when set alight mid-race and then last start he was powering home behind Everlasting Spirit. Ava Catarino is riding more and more winners weekly and Justin Alexander is training like a Waller not a Robbins. I NEVER DREAMED has been solid in both runs in Kal and now has a set of blinkers going on. KEEP A KNOCKIN’ should have finished closer last start after finding plenty of traffic on straightening. ON JUST TERMS will land in a nice spot and think the drop back in trip helps. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – MILITARY ACTION WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,8 1,2,4,5 1 2,4 Market Market
