Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 7, 2024June 7, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BIG PLAYER, LET IT WIN RUPERT and KERMELIA are all newcomers to the region and in these maidens that’s often the good form – the alternate form. BIG PLAYER has a set of bars on which is an immediate red flag but he has run some nice races in far better company than this across his 10 starts to date. LET IT WIN RUPERT has his first outing for the travelling Steele Casey team and put in a decent run back in January behind Silver Eye at Belmont. KERMELIA was well thought of in betting fresh at York. ELUSIVE DREAM has run out of chances. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – LET IT WIN RUPERT WIN RACE 2 ULTIMATE DEEL looks a real once paced staying type so expect that Joey Azzopardi will be happy to put him into the contest down the back straight and turn this into a testing 1600m. Still waiting for the blinkers to go on but going to pull the trigger here in a very thin country maiden. THE CANDY KID is on a 6 day back-up and likely rolls to the top. UNLIKELY HERO was back behind tiring horses at his WA debut and wasn’t too bad. EDWARD’S CHOICE is always there abouts but consistently going round short for a horse who is 0 from 16. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ULTIMATE DEEL WIN RACE 3 BAALBEK should be too quick for them again. He might have to burn early to get across Parori / Trigger Finger (or even sit outside of him) however going off his C3 win from the breeze at Ascot back in November and his second placing to sharp sprinting mare Devine Belief that shouldn’t worry him. Can make his way through to 70+ company this prep. PARORI made an impression at his WA debut and the form out of the race has been sound. Measures up. HOLE IN ONE put in his best run of the campaign last start. UNDER INFLUENCE can always run a race fresh. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – BAALBEK WIN RACE 4 CAPTAIN ROGERS has found another race where he can lead and dictate. Went to the line locked together with Onemoreforleo last start and while he concedes him half a kilo for being beaten he gets a senior rider and can either lead or park on Honest Legend. Nice set up for him. ONEMOREFORLEO continues to get plunged in betting and continues to narrowly get the job done. He’s rising up to 59kg here and this race has a fair bit of depth to it but provided they can make ground he’ll be right in the finish again. DANCE OF THUNDER gets a 6kg weight swing for a 1.5L margin between the pair last time they met care of the engagement of Chanel Cooper. RYEWOOD ran well fresh. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN ROGERS WIN RACE 5 DREAMTIME JEAN has bee popular in this preview since the Kalgoorlie season kicked off and see no reason why he won’t be very hard to beat again. His only defeated was at the hands of Parori when he was vetted pre-raced and then covered plenty of additional ground. Dominant winner either side and maps to get across to the breeze. From there expect he’ll be too strong. DUBLIN RED has a set of winkers applied after running around badly last start in the home straight over 1632m. Logical danger. MYSTERY BULLET tries hard. WITCH STREET gets her regular rider back. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – DREAMTIME JEAN WIN RACE 6 ABLOH could be a tough watch for punters with a 3kg apprentice drawn barrier 1 on a get back type of runner, however, the horse is clearly the most talented galloper in the field and has come back to racing in great order. Chanel Cooper rode him first-up over 1200 when he flashed behind the talented Californication and then he covered a stack of ground in the middle stages in the Sky Final when only run down late. Flying – just needs luck. VINYL is better than what she produced last start. Never saw daylight but also didn’t travel as strongly. KICK A GOAL SON is knocking on the door. GALAXY AFFAIR is a nice type for these 70+ races. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – ABLOH WIN RACE 7 THE CHIEF JUSTICE heads up to Kalgoorlie and should be a nice type for this C2 set up. Likely to have to park up outside of speedy filly Twist Of Gold but with a bit of a query on her late over 1200m he looks to get his chance to pinch it. Fit, tough and back in distance. TWIST OF GOLD drops down to 55kg after the claim. Just wary that she’s been finding 1100m on her limit. DEBONNAIRE was a great first run for new trainer Fiona Scott. Barrier is no help and he rises up 1.5kg. TALKABOUTYOU is rarely far from the winner but rarely the winner himself. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE CHIEF JUSTICE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4 1,6 1,2,5,7 1,2,5,6,7,9,10 Market Market
