Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 11, 2025July 11, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SHINE AND BURN won’t get a better opportunity to open her winning account than this. She’s had a trial at Lark Hill and if she reproduces the effort that saw her finish second to Shoot To Fame at Bunbury when leading over 1100m she’ll be hard to run down in what is the weakest maiden of the season to date. OUR DESPARADO has definitely improved since arriving in Kalgoolie and now Lucy Fiore jumps aboard. HIDDEN JEWELS showed something at trials but nothing yet on race day. THROW ME A KISS is mid-prep and heading to WA for the first time. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SHINE AND BURN WIN RACE 2 TREASURED QUEEN was able to break through last start after going under as favourite both first-up and second-up. She’s fully fit, she’ll lead again from barrier 1 and she’ll be in front for a long way. TALK IT UP resumed at Ascot in December 2024 and then hasn’t been seen since over the last 200 days. Jefferson Tsang’s 3kg claim keeps him within a winnable weight bracket. SCOTTISH LAIRD heads into 70+ grade again and is enjoying his best season ever. BAALBEK continues to knock on the door but probably needs to draw inside Treasured Queen to turn the tables. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – TREASURED QUEEN WIN RACE 3 INNER JOY was beaten nearly 5L at her Goldfields Debut but from barrier 1 she should get a far softer run in transit and there’s very little between these maiden types. All comes down to who gets the right split at the right time. PERFECT RULER is race fit and has a positive racing pattern. That puts him in good stead at his Goldfields debut and while he would prefer a Soft6/7 he’ll be no doubt competitive. JEKYLL ISLAND had his first start for Dave Smith last time out and needed further. Gets that here. LASTING LEGACIES stays in Kal and goes from a 3kg claimer to Lucy Fiore. That will attract the attention of plenty. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – INNER JOY WIN RACE 4 EEVALINA looks well suited to this 58+ grade and considering she chased hard last start behind Teabisuit with 61kg she should take beating here with the 3kg claim for Jefferson Tsang (who is riding extremely well). Barrier 1, box seat, and with even luck will be bursting through late. PEARLY NUGGER sat up in the breeze last start and bolted in for a dominant 3.5L win. Reproduces that run and they could be running for second! DREAMERS NEVER DIE was backed as if unbeatable first-up but could only close the gap to 3.5L. SCENIC ECLIPSE trialled super and ran a ripper first-up at Bunbury. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – EEVALINA WIN RACE 5 SUNNY TIMES had his first start for new trainer Mack Hall at Bunbury in a C3 on the Fibre Sand and was rattling home into second behind Lano. Back onto the grass, blinkers on and drawn ideally. Makes a lot of sense and Mack Hall’s yard is flying. RELIABLE IMAGE broke her maiden like a mare who could go on with it and now has a set of shades attached. These Ex-Peters types keep improving for MR Peter. BE MY BELLE gave cheek last start at Northam and fought on well late. SABINO has put together back to back encouraging minors. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – SUNNY TIMES WIN RACE 6 STRYKER’S GAL broke her maiden in Kalgoorlie three back and then last start back in the region again finished off well behind Science Degree. Just looks a mare who enjoys the track and from the draw she’ll get every hope to gun them down late. TWIST OF GOLD loves the 1100. Rises up 2.5kg and 100m will see her vulnerable late. Must respect the leader but think she’ll be tiptoeing late. DATE WITHTHE DEVIL was all the rage in betting last start but then missed away and that was his race over. Did a great job to get as close as he did all things considered. ULTIMATE PARADISE has turned a corner. Last two have been career best from her. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – STRYKER’S GAL WIN RACE 7 RULING DAME is very close to the ‘never again’ basket but I like this placement by Peter Fernie. She goes from carrying 59kg in a C2 down to only 51.5kg coming up in grade and using the 3kg claim for Jefferson Tsang. She gets one last chance in an open and even contest. If not, bin. SCIENCE DEGREE stretches to 1400m but with only 55.5kg on his back he’ll be in front for a long way. ONEMOREFORLEU is going 1760 back to 1400m with 60kg from a wide gate – lots of negatives but a wonderfully consistent conveyance. KAKADU is racing well as he approaches 10 years of age. Think he can pinch another before retirement. Numbers: 12 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – RULING DAME WIN Market Market
