Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 27, 2025June 27, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LAVISH CHARM finished second to My Harv first-up at Pinjarra and then second-up finished 1.2L off Simply Royalty in a race where they stopped the clock 3L faster than maiden average. A month later he arrives in Kal and expect he’ll be popular in betting. THE SHARERGHINI had two runs for Dion Luciani in his initial preparation and then his first-up run last weekend for new trainer Peter Fernie was very encouraging. He was in front for 1180m of that event before being swamped on the post by Alabama Elegance. MACHO ARQUERO raced 4 days ago and wasn’t terrible. OUR DESPARADO was better last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – LAVISH CHARM WIN RACE 2 RELIABLE IMAGE like Lavish Charm in the first brings provincial maiden form to the Goldfields and that should see her hard to beat. Good effort last start behind Flying Choux and with Queen Aria winning out of that race Thursday the form looks good. QUAGMIRE is second-up and Simon Miller sends him straight to Kalgoorlie. He showed a bit in his initial preparation including running second to Precious God in a 3 year old 0MWLY. Never got into the race first-up and hopefully the extra distance and a weaker jurisdiction can see him produce his best. LENDANEAR was an improver at odds last start and kept coming to the line. LINE OF THOUGHT next best. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – RELIABLE IMAGE WIN RACE 3 TREASURED QUEEN should be peaking now. Resumed first-up, no trial when beaten three quarters by Baalbek and then second-up was only run down late by Playthatfunkymusic. She’s still racing a length or two below her best of 12 months ago but with only 54.5kg against a very similar line-up she’ll again be the one to beat. ZING TO WIN was the one the punters wanted last start. Ran well enough. ORACLE SON brings alternate form and Haida Gwaii has since won a Saturday. BAALBEK can park up outside Treasured Queen. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – TREASURED QUEEN WIN RACE 4 TWIST OF GOLD is a jump and run 1100m mare. Would love it if there was a 1000m starting point in Kal but to offset the fact that she gets a bit soft late Peter Fernie sticks with the 4kg claim of Salutes Tsang and keeps the weight off her back. From barrier 2 she should lead for a long way. HEZANGELIC won a C1 1000 at Pinjarra four back and is nicely placed here, especially after the 4kg claim for Holly Nottle who has ridden a stack of winners in the early part of her career. THE LIONS GATE bobbed up at 20-1 last start but there was a lot to like about the win! MARGOT’S BULLSEYE is going well. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – TWIST OF GOLD WIN RACE 5 WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE was well commissioned last start in betting but couldn’t hold off the late challenge of an impressive Secret Attire. Without that mare in the race it opens up for the 3 year old to beat the older horses. EEVALINA headed back to the KBRC last start and was back to somewhere near her best. Has to lump a full 61kg but like her coming back into 58+ company. The Close At Hand form is good form and a lot of these have been stuck in this grade for a long while. TEABISCUIT scratched from Wednesday to save for this. Jump, run with 51.5kg. IMAPAGETHREE GIRL continues to find the line. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE WIN RACE 6 FEUDING would have been a good thing beat last start if he didn’t get out. He was locked away in heavy traffic under his 61.5kg impost and showed a great determination and turn of acceleration to get himself out of a pocket and across the line to break a long, long run of outs. Very hard to beat here. PULL THE TRIGGER had to sustain a run around them but he also had the momentum that Feuding didn’t. ONEMOREFORLEO finds this easier than the 70+ behind Close At Hand. SANTA BRAE has never looked an apprentices’ horse. Like Alex Hearn on. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – FEUDING WIN RACE 7 ON JUST TERMS backs up off 7 days and drops in grade from a 58+ back into a C2. The last time she raced in this grade she led and won by 2.3L soft. Looks a really winnable race for the filly. Yes, I realise I’ve tipped Peter Fernie to train the card – in MR we trust. I NEVER DREAMED won well two back and then held her own last start behind Gondrinkin. SCIENCE DEGREE is awkwardly caught between C2 company (61kg) and 58+ company (57.5kg) and also can’t buy a barrier/map. ELSUENO was a big improver last start and can hold a spot from the draw. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – ON JUST TERMS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4,6,7 1,6,8 1,2,4,5,8 4 Market Market
