Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 12, 2025April 13, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DEEP DISCRETION had her first run in Geraldton last start when finishing second behind dominant winner Gold Chain. Stays in the region, draws better, gains Troy Turner’s services and can settle close handy. HYPERREAL heads to Geraldton as part of the travelling Misty Bazeley squad. Run down the straight behind Point Rocks was great. Always looked like he would win a maiden at some stage. WRITTEN SIN ran well in a couple of country maidens last prep and has trialled up well enough. DON’T IMPOSE a watch on debut. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – DEEP DISCRETION WIN RACE 2 EXTRA ZERO comes through the Gold Chain / Deep Discretion race and hopefully that will look even stronger form after Race 1. The step up in distance will help him and the shades go on for his second run for Gordon Spowart. IL BELLO BEALS nearly pinched a maiden two back when only swamped in the shadows by handy 3 year old Hewilldous. Winkers on and off 7 days. WASN’T ME is a long time maiden (start 26) but the fresh run at Ascot behind Polyvanova was actually quite good. BLATANT DISARRAY caught the eye last week. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – EXTRA ZERO WIN RACE 3 MOMBASA went around in the Abrohlos Plate last week behind Collective. Back out to 1618m suits him, he’s off 7 days and he won a near identical race to this two back impressively (by 4L and beating Collective). Think this is very winnable for him and he’s starting to build up a bit of consistency and trust. ALTERNO finished just ahead of him in the Abrohlos Plate and looms as a genuine danger. 0 from 19 at the track is an obvious concern! MIFF MUFFERED MOOF is rock hard fit and comes back in distance. KENTUCKY BLUE can roll in front. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MOMBASA WIN RACE 4 COLLECTIVE was always going to be a nice mare for new trainer Albert Bowtell. She’s got an electric turn of foot when saved up for one run and last week in the Abrohlos Plate she was simply dominant. In the previous run she got into all sorts of traffic problems and still managed to run second under 58.5kg. Looks a $1.40 pop. BE SEATED put in his best run of the campaign last week behind Luckee Floran and gets a soft run. THE CHIEF JUSTICE is always an X-Factor. HUGHBERT improves out in trip. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – COLLECTIVE WIN RACE 5 QUEEN OF HAWKS was scratched during the week to save for this assignment. She’s third-up, she’s back to Geraldton where she broke her maiden and she’s mapped to either lead or box seat. Time to stand up and win again. DON’T TELL NAN led and won a C1 1200 at Pinjarra in April. If they allow her to cross she’ll be hard to run down. LOST GRAVITY has far more ability than a Geraldton C2 galloper, however, he’s also got 59kg on his back even after the 3kg claim for stable apprentice Ava Catarino. He’ll get back and needs conditions to suit. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE a watch for his new trainer. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – QUEEN OF HAWKS WIN RACE 6 DREAM TO ME has won 6 individual races at the GTC and has won 3 from 4 first-up across her career. The last time she raced at Geraldton she carried 60kg and missed in a bob of the heads with Defending. If she’s right – she’s too good for them. The market will likely tell the story. Watch and wait. GOLD KEEPER has run second to On The Mark and then second to Blue Rocket. Very much ready to win. GOLDEN FIGHTER has been more than competitive in town recently and is well weighted after the ZJP claim. ZING TO WIN hasn’t fired a shot yet this prep. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – DREAM TO ME WIN RACE 7 HARD QUESTIONS looks well suited. He won the Walkaway Cup three back and then wasn’t that far off Bombay Style last week in the Geraldton Cup and gets a huge weight pull on both Bombay Style and Butterfly Rock. BOMBAY STYLE is a ripper. He’s an 8 time winner at Geraldton and has won races from 1100m to 1650m. He finished fourth last week as the first Local Horse past the post in the Geraldton Cup. 63kg is a massive task. BUTTERFLY ROCK finished eighth in the Cup and her run of wins came to an end. She’s had a brilliant season. ARNIE’S BOY is always a chance. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – HARD QUESTIONS WIN RACE 8 GAV HAS SPOKEN is in her first preparation of racing but is going really well. The effort last start at Pinjarra behind Great Emotion was excellent from a mile off them in the run and here she should position up much closer from a gun draw. NEW ATTRACTION finished second to I’m On the last time they met (24 days ago) and now gets a 1kg pull in the weights to try and turn the tables. Both drawn awkwardly, likely comes down to who gets the right run. I’M ON went to the Abrohlos Plate last week and that form is likely to be very popular throughout a lot of the program here. DUTCH POR was a really cheeky first-up run for Albert Bowtell. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – GAV HAS SPOKEN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,6,8 1,4,7 1,2,4,6 4,5,6,7,10 Market Market
