Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 13, 2024December 13, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ART SESSION was a good thing beat on debut at Belmont Park when held up the entire length of the straight bolting. Was drawn wide and went back at Bunbury at his second start and any horse who settles outside the first half at Bunbury can be forgiven at the minute. Off to Geraldton and drawn soft. Should be too good. LIVE LUCKY is really speedy. Hopefully a bit more maturity and age has helped her out. DIXIE PRINCESS is a long time maiden but going well. DISCUSS ran well fresh but has a tough draw to navigate. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ART SESSION WIN RACE 2 BIG BONED BAZ has been handy this season and most importantly he gets Troy Turner aboard. If he’s going to pinch one it’ll be with the King of Geraldton on his back. BLACK SANDS rattled home two back behind Special Plan and then was backed into near favouritism last start over a mile. Hits a flat spot at the 600 which hurts him. CRYSTAL ROSE has been back to trials in between race starts and has the pacifiers taken off. Trial was good and if she gets across she’s another winning chance. MEXICAN QUEEN can sprint well enough fresh. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – BIG BONED BAZ WIN RACE 3 SPECIAL PLAN has always shown ability since arriving with Graeme Hammarquist in the region and this could be the preparation she steps up and emerges through the grades. Ran second to Ideally in her maiden, broke her maiden in style and strikes a moderate C2 1618m line-up. Should be hard to beat. DESERT EDGE needs all of 1600m but he has actually been trialling quite well for a horse of his ability/profile. MAXIMUM IMPACT is racing as well as he can. WHO BE WHATEE was better last start. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL PLAN WIN RACE 4 WELL PLAYED is always around the mark in whatever she contests in Geraldton. 1200 – 1400 – 1600 – 1200 and now back to what looks nearly her best trip the 1400. Maps well, racing well, just needs to prove herself as a weight carrier. THE RUSH looked really well placed last start but only just got the job done. Hardly convincing. MIFF MUFFERED MOOF is as consistent as they come and as long as she doesn’t get caught three deep from the awkward draw she’ll be right there in the finish. STIRKING FELLA enjoys this more than the C3 at Pinjarra. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – WELL PLAYED WIN RACE 5 SURE NO SOMETHING has found his feet and his form and is going great guns for Ron Cowl Knr and this looks a great opportunity for Keshaw Dhurun to kick home another winner as a senior. Coming off a $100,000 Ascot feature victory and a versatile type who can be ridden forward or rearward to suit the pattern. PRINCE RAGNAR is a free wheeling leader who goes better the faster they allow him to run. Chanel Cooper gave him a 10/10 last start. STARRING KNIGHT should be a big improver back to country grade. SAFE HUSTLE couldn’t be going any better. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – SURE NO SOMETHING WIN RACE 6 I’M ON was a big follow from the meeting 8 days ago. She resumed over 1200m and got to the line really well behind Aroochacha and Monty Zoomer in a race dominated on top of the speed. Second-up drops 1.5kg and gets Troy Turner on. Plenty to like. SURF PATROL is a lightly raced 3 year old with some upside. Had to work for his Albany maiden win but will be much improved for the experience. SPARKLE CORNER is a month between runs but did win well last start. WUNDERKIND a watch. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – I’M ON WIN RACE 7 JUSTHANDY won a 58+ 1113 off 81 days to start the season and then didn’t get much luck (or go quite as well) at her next two outings. Malcolm Mackenzue has freshened her up and attacks this race 52 days between runs. The booking of Tash Faithfull takes the attention. BE SEATED has bounced between 58+ and 70+ company for a few seasons and this looks a nice race for him on paper. ENTICING is a handy acquisition for Peter Daly and the region. COUSIN NICCI was good fresh but the draw is a sticky one. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – JUSTHANDY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,5,6,10 3,5,6,7 1,2,7 1,2,5,6,9 Market Market
