Scott Embry’s Sunday Esperance Preview Posted on February 28, 2025February 28, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 I HAD A DREAM gets one final chance for me. Narrowly beaten Marybee first-up, second to Dubai’s Daughter second-up (beating Favaios and Rum n Ginger in the process), third to Favaios and Flinders Lane and then disappointed off the 7 days. Given 5 weeks between runs by trainer Josh Brown and he calls on the services of CJP. Now or never. JET POWER resumes for Freddo Brown and showed something last campaign. TRA LA LA is getting closer and closer with each run. ULTIMATE PARADISE is better than her first-up run. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – I HAD A DREAM WIN RACE 2 FLINDERS LANE has now had three runs in the region and finished in the money on each and every occasion. Often at Esperance, especially in maidens, being drawn wide to stay out of trouble and get yourself to the middle of the track can be beneficial and in a self-convincing move we’ll view CJP on and barrier 12 as positives. Step to 1400m suits as well. SUGARED UP has run some cheeky minor placings across the season but has also burnt punters a few times. MANGANUI is a career maiden but this is still winnable. QUEEN OF CHAOS is going well. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – FLINDERS LANE WIN RACE 3 CHOIXWAY has been a great acquisition for Anthony Barton and Simone Altieri and might be one of the very few horses to beat On The Mark by the time the Geraldton season comes to a close. Narrowly defeated by Crunchy Nut last time they met – likely comes down to who gets the better run into the straight. CRUNCHY NUT has certainly found his feet in the region now and the only stopping factor could be the 62kg he’s forced to carry as he looks to go back to back to back same track/distance/grade each time. DAWN AMNESTY can let rip on occasion. HABIB always there abouts. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – CHOIXWAY WIN RACE 4 SURE THING and ZEBEDEE SPRINGS are both newcomers to WA and both have made a good impression to start their careers. SURE THING won his maiden by 5.4L in a race run 4L faster than average, he won his C2 by 3L in a time 3.5L faster than average. Will again need to burn the candle at both ends with 61kg on his back but he’s flying. ZEBEDEE SPRINGS wasn’t quite as sharp as she was fresh. Trusting in the training brilliance of Justin Robins to get her back. SNIPERS SON isn’t the same horse. MARYBEE is consistent. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – SURE THING WIN RACE 5 BOOZEROO and HILTON are both heading into the 2025 Esperance Sprint off a winning hattrick. Add in the speedy SOME SORT who has found form again, PEARLY NUGGET dropping 6kg and the resuming MUNGO JERRY and you’ve got yourself a belter. Just going to keep following and tipping BOOZEROO until he lets us down. Last two wins off 33 days and 37 days. Fresh is best. HILTON is going super and is a big danger. SOME SORT has turned back the clock. MUNGO JERRY has CJP and that alone will get many punters. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – BOOZEROO WIN RACE 6 DUBAI’S DAUGHTER suffered her first defeat of the season when going down in a C5 1200 at the hands of Choixway last start. 1200m back to 1100m, CJP on, drawn to sit just behind a solid tempo (Universal Playboy, Khalida, Blue Can Talk) and looks the progressive horse in the race. LUCKY SUE has a negative racing pattern which makes her hard to follow but she’s going undeniably well. KELLYS LI ZA LU ran some huge races fresh at Kal last year. Keep safe. KHALIDA is the other Dave Smith horse first-up and both are capable. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – DUBAI’S DAUGHTER WIN RACE 7 STORMAGEDDON was a good thing beat three starts ago, was a good thing beat two starts ago and then finally got into clear galloping room last time out at Pinjarra and scored a deserving victory. Beautifully placed into the Esperance Cup and expect that he’ll sneak into the race from the 800 and be right on top of them by the top of the straight. UNCOMPROMISED and TRUE CHANCE were upset by wild roughie Passion For War in the local lead up. Surely a concern? BIG SWOOP can stay and Ray Malpass knows how to travel them. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 13 – 6 Suggested Bet – STORMAGEDDON WIN RACE 8 WEST COAST WARRIOR is just another classic Gary Burger acquisition. Each and every year he seems to get his hands on a horse with little to no form and turn them into brilliant money spinners. Hasn’t missed the top two all season and is now looking to win a fourth race. RED WITH TED was bitterly disappointing last start and the market late was well aware. Thought he was working into some form – was very wrong! MINOR DETAIL keeps whacking away. KALLAROO finds a 58+. Become Sir Clint if he tricks the old boy into victory. Numbers: 4 – 13 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet – WEST COAST WARRIOR WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,6,7,12 4,5,8,9,10,11 3 4,13 Market Market
