Scott Embry’s Sunday Carnarvon Preview Posted on August 27, 2021August 27, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EMPIRE KHAN has promised to win a maiden at Carnarvon for 2 seasons. Yet to break through but has gone close on a number of occasions. Proving a bit of a hard horse to ride at the minute when finding bad luck, laying in and being caught off the track for the majority of starts. Another weak race, another new rider, another chance. RICKY’S ORA was a massive improver at any old odds last start and arguably would have won if he went straight. MIAMI MOON brings the Broome form and has been competitive there all season. SUPER BON can find the top here if jumping clean. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – EMPIRE KHAN WIN RACE 2 MOORUMBINE and THE WISE ONE clashed in a 1200m C2 behind Stevie’s Wonder at Broome three starts back (The Wise One second, Moorumbine third) and there is a big weight swing in favour of Moorumbine for a narrow defeat, they met again on Broome Sprint day (Moorumbine plunged and winning, The Wise One unable to land a blow). They meet again here and with the engagement of Austin Galati onto Moorumbine he looks the one to beat again. THE WISE ONE will be jumping and running in an attempt to cross. The way he’s going it’s a bit of all or nothing for him. WOODBUG continues to knock on the door and is well placed back into this grade. WORZEL is kept fresh and with the claim gets in well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MOORUMBINE WIN RACE 3 MISS ELLMYA had five starts in Broome (70+, 70+, 58+, 70+ and 58+) when finishing in the money at each and every outing including recording a strong on speed 58+ win with weight. Has the gate speed to kick up underneath them and if Galati can hold out the likes of Behrooz, Speeding Comet and Kramden early she’ll be there a long way. BEHROOZ is the track/distance specialist with all 6 Carnarvon wins coming over the short course. Graeme Hammarquist simply highlights the 1000m scampers on the calendar and doesn’t take him anywhere else. SPEEDING COMET ran third in the Broome Sprint behind Diamond Tonique and Desert Thorn. Great form for this. SHACKLETON is going super and if it’s last man standing he’ll be finishing hard. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – MISS ELLMYA WIN RACE 4 KLONDIKE KENNY looks to have found a suitable race. Going really well this preparation for Dennis Couper and the last five outings has finished in the money including a 56+ win over Mordor. Since then finished third in the Minilya Sprint and second to The Full Quid when looming the winner with 61.5kg. Stays in the same grade, drops 1kg after the claim and looks hard to beat. FLASH OF THUNDER is a winner at Carnarvon at the end of a Broome preparation previously. Drawn well and getting better deeper into the campaign. PREVAILING WINDS brings Pearl Classic form behind Moet De Vega and Slick Unit. Should be strong enough to run a big race here. THE CHORISTER made them look silly at Junction when winning by 12L. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – KLONDIKE KENNY WIN RACE 5 MARXIAN and JENABEL meet again, this time at 1700m and with 2kg in favour of Marxian. Clearly on the Carnarvon Cup campaign and given a big push in a post race interview by Graeme Hammarquist as a horse to follow on his way to the Cup. Didn’t get clear until Jenabel was off and rolling last start and kept in the clear he looks hard to beat here. JENABEL is simply fool proof. Doesn’t know how to run a bad race and from the draw can kick up and hold a position. DECEPTION GAME brings the Broome Cups form (Cable Beach, Kimberley and Broome Cup) which on paper is superior to what the locals hold. Big weight but the claim helps a lot. IN THE BAG takes luck of out his racing. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – MARXIAN WIN RACE 6 NOBEL IMAGE has the tactical speed to overcome the wide draw and can be forgiven for one flop at Roebourne. Prior to that in her campaign had won a 56+ at Carnarvon, finished second and third in respective races to Casual Trade in a 56+ company and finished fourth to her inform stablemate Jenabel. Open race and looks a chance. FERNGROVE had been knocking on the door and building towards a win when getting the job done in a 58+ at Broome last start beating in form types like Nevarda and Watch Me Ney Ney. Maddy Cornick is thrown a big opportunity. VOLPE was a strong winner last start. Once Ray Malpass’ find form they tend to hold it. CAPE SOUNION had a mixed preparation in the NW. Tough gate to overcome. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – NOBEL IMAGE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,4 1,3,4,10 2,3,4,5,6 Market Market
