Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on March 8, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 VALIDATION looked speedy at trials so should be able to overcome what is far from ideal draw. If McGruddy can get her across and at worst find the spot in the breeze she can go close on debut. PEARL DANCER won a Bunbury trial by over 7 lengths and has the speed to lead. Worth inclusion. LOOKOUT has the best race form and went mighty close first-up. STAROF BONNIE ROSE trialed up well and the stable is white hot. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – VALIDATION EACHWAY Race 2 LEADING MAN has shown a level of ability in the past. He took on a couple of 1000m Pinjarra straight races which were simply not to his fancy. The recent trial was reasonable and this race looks a suitable starting point. WAR ANTHEM ran into a nice filly last start. Form looks super now after Wednesday’s races. SCENIC CHARM was backed as if unbeatable first-up and had 0 luck. She is a filly who will win plenty of races. PATRONS CHOICE gets the right run along the paint. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – LEADING MAN WIN Race 3 OSIPOVA was a great run on debut. Connections were spruiking that “she just needs more ground” and that’s what they get here. She should roll straight to the top early and Warwick can stay there or hand-up. Oak nominated she could be the hidden pearl. TALENT SCHOOL has been going well and looked a provincial stayer in the making last start. MR STICKLER can position closer from the gate and run a race. SCINTILLATING gets out to a trip which looks like it will suit. Numbers: 13 – 10 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – OSIPOVA WIN Race 4 GEOGRAPHE BAY is hard to catch but on his day this race looks like being a very winnable one for him. Pateman is riding in career best form and horses are running for him. If he gets luck then can lift this one home. VENGEANCE OF WAR clearly has a few quirks. His galloping action and all of his trials have been hard to assess but can rnu a race. KENYLUCK has improved into the preparation. DON’T BE TARDY can’t be discounted with the way the Pearce boys are going. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – GEOGRAPHE BAY WIN Race 5 CHAMPAGNE GAL gets in under the radar to an extent with Pike jumping off. Last start was full of merit and from the draw can get a nice run midfield with cover. Back to home track, appeals in this. I AM SPARTACUS won well second-up and third up was a beaten odds on favourite. Can bounce back. VOLKWAGON FRANK was able to sprint well fresh, gets back and runs on. SHE’S A GALAH really turned it up late last start. Dropping back in trip should help. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – CHAMPAGNE GAL WIN Race 6 BEDOUINE BELLE won well first-up down the 1000m straight running time and running away from a subsequent impressive maiden winner. First attempt round the bend is a concern but she looks to have a sweet turn of foot. IT COMES NATURAL back to Bunbury and drawn to sit close handy an improver. ZEDSTORM won well last start and she should again lead them for a long way. ARTIC BLUE will hit the line hard. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – BEDOUINE BELLE WIN Race 7 LANGLEY looks perfectly placed to make it two on the bounce. He took a long time to win his first race in WA and his second in his life but now looks to have shaken the non-winner label and he can go bang, bang. MAKE MINE CHAMPERS was jumping out of the ground late. Should be hard to hold out if making a similar late run here. SPIRITUAL WARRIOR has shown nothing since joining JT Warwick’s stable but he is better than that. COCKNEY CREW should be fitter for the run and could even lead. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – LANGLEY WIN Race 8 CAPPO D’ORO was a good thing beaten in last year’s Bunbury Cup and last year’s Pinjarra Cup. His fresh run in the Listed Detonator Stakes was full of merit and here he should lead or box seat and gets every chance. Looks likely to open eachway and be supported. COME PLAY WITH ME gets along very well with Peter Knuckey. His engagement looks a big tick. HE’S A PARKER is very progressive but this is his toughest test. PRYING TOM has been kept up for these staying features but his form has tapered. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – CAPPO D’ORO EACHWAY Race 9 CRISTAL DANE took care of an average bunch first-up down the straight. That was effectively a trial and this looks a nice stepping stone towards bigger and better races. She is a filly worth following. FAIRTRUSIVE won well four starts back, possibly didn’t quite see out the 1400m three starts back, was nosed out two starts ago and then ran a massive race in a fast run Saturday Graduation last start. Scratched three times to finally lob here. CAN HE RULE HER was very impressive last start. SAINT SALVADORE was stopped in his tracks and was a forgive and forget run. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – CRISTAL DANE WIN Quad (Race 6 – 9) 8 2,4 1,3,7 1,3,4,5 Market Market
