Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on January 24, 2025January 24, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BIRD ON A WIRE gets another chance but punter beware because she’ll likely jump pretty short for a mare who has had a few chances and seems to find a way to get rolled. Trainer Rebecca Nairn scratched her from Pinjarra Thursday to save for this and she should bounce straight on the top and take running down. GALILEA was utterly enormous fresh. It’s just hard to trust a mare who simply doesn’t jump. WAR TRAIL was finishing off well on debut but now 28 days later has bars on (hind). SWINDLE THE DOUGH next best. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – BIRD ON A WIRE WIN RACE 2 MAID AN OFFER looks to have found his race. He whacked away on speed last start in a 1690m maiden where they’ve gone 7L faster than average to the 600 so he’s done plenty of work early and was left a sitting duck to be run down. Can lead or box seat from barrier 1. SHE’S RESOLUTE comes through the same race and is looking very dour and one paced. Hopefully blinkers on can help her. BEEJAY BOY is going well and is fit. LIGHTNING MCQUEEN hasn’t had any luck yet. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – MAID AN OFFER WIN RACE 3 GINGER MORPHEUS makes his debut off two minor place trial efforts behind Too Soon (first-up winner) and Amaroo Star (let’s be honest, likely first-up winner). Hasn’t been fully tested in those trials and has travelled well throughout. Looks a handy horse. ZED HOT EXPRESS was super on debut and then well below par last start. Jason Miller puts on a tongue tie and winkers and she can bounce back hard. UNGOVERNED is accepted Sunday and Monday and worth follow whichever way they go. SIR DUSKIN was a great fresh run. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – GINGER MORPHEUS WIN RACE 4 SECRET INTENT went around at Pinjarra on debut at nearly 80-1 and went within half a length of victory. From there the market kept her far safer and second-up she finished 1.4L off winners Arcadia Park and Mean Machine. This is a weak field and if she runs to that level, she’ll be hard to beat. GERONIMO MAGIC was beaten a long way last start but the winner (Snow God) is good. QUICK AS SILVER has gear changes and races around a bend again. RED AUTUMN showed something last prep. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SECRET INTENT WIN RACE 5 HISTORY WON’T CARE was pretty much a good thing beat first-up and that had punters climbing out of trees to back him on a Saturday at Ascot second-up. They had their fingers burnt because he suffered a cardiac arrythmia. Has since trialled and this is very winnable. ELBOW LOUNGE doesn’t win out of turn but this is a nice map for him. PLAYING QUEST won this track/distance/grade three back. DEEP SPEED hasn’t won for a long while but can give cheek. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – HISTORY WON’T CARE WIN RACE 6 NOBLE CONNECTION is the lightly raced 3 year old who might just have a bit more upside than most of these. He went from a 1690m maiden win into a C1 and carried 2kg more and nearly won. With Play Fair being plunged to victory on Thursday at Pinjarra the form now looks even better. OCEAN RANGER was a follow from last start. Caught the eye late. WIN TO RETIRE is getting closer to another win. WHO SAZ YES will appreciate getting Brad Parnham back. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – NOBLE CONNECTION WIN RACE 7 SANTANOVA went around in a 3 year old Plate last start behind Supernatural. She’s likely Breeder’s Classic bound that filly and this filly lobs back into a C1 1200 at her home track. Plenty of last start winners and depth to this but she’s very well placed. KAMAKAZI SHOOTER finished third to All Grunt and Thermosphere Lad has already won nicely out of that race. AMERICAN ESCAPE won her maiden well and was scratched Wednesday for this. HOBA WEST has had 4x trials since he last raced but his latest for new trainer Bruce Watkins was great. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – SANTANOVA WIN RACE 8 ORACLE SON was scratched on Thursday from Pinjarra in preference for this. He won a C5 1100 here at Bunbury two back beating handy types Another Strike and Our Mate Archie and while he didn’t beat a runner home last start he was only 3L off Premium Choice (races in the Scenic Blast Saturday), Final Siren (won the Mt Barker Sprint) and Snow Price. Big chance. CHERRY CAN RUN has just gone to a whole new level. Her last two wins have been arrogant. EN PLEIN AIR at her best would be hard to catch if ridden for speed. CLOSE AT HAND took full advantage of a 10/10 ride last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – ORACLE SON WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3 1,5 3,6,8 1,2,3,4,6 Market Market
