Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on December 27, 2024December 27, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ZIPPY ZANY was a late scratching when lined up to go around a well supported $2.20 favourite last start and now comes into this contest 28 days between runs. There isn’t a lot of depth to this field, in fact, to the point where on paper it’s weaker than the race she was a late scratching from. Hard to beat. SCENIC GEORGE and CHAMPAGNE CATHAY both come through the winner producing Supernatural, Daytona Pete, De Grandhomme, Promising race. SIR DUSKIN has trialled really well twice now. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – ZIPPY ZANY WIN RACE 2 NORTH FACE jumped odds on first-up after Zippy Zany was a late scratching but was no match at all for Santanova who put 1.5L on him at the top of the straight and he was unable to make any inroads into that margin. Second-up to 1200, drawn soft and should be going very close to breaking through. ZED HOT EXPRESS is the best of the triallers and looked good over the last 100m when winning her 950m heat. LYN’S STAR did finish second to Rissoles first-up last campaign and a repeat of that performance would see her in the mix. WAR TRAIL next. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – NORTH FACE WIN RACE 3 LAVISH CHARM has transferred to Michael Grantham in the last 3 weeks since going around over 1200m behind Great Edition. Finished almost a length behind Scary Mary but simply got too far out of her ground on a day that didn’t suit. Lightly raced compared to many of these. BOSS HOLIDAY was backed into near favourite last start over 1675m but finished fourth beaten 1.5L. Prior run over 1400m behind I’m Crafty was good enough to win this and he should get every chance from the draw. WHO SAZ YES can cross if she jumps. SCARY MARY steps out in trip. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – LAVISH CHARM WIN RACE 4 BATTLE ON BATTLER came back to 1675m last start and think that was the big difference for him. Like that Tom Wolfe has kept him around the mile rather than stepping him back out to the 2000m+ and thinking that he can slide forward to park up outside of Extra Zero or even roll on with it and find the top. Ready to finally win one. NOBLE CONNECTION was coming out of an Esperance maiden when finishing off strongly behind Funchal last start. EXTRA ZERO has no weight on the back-up. DECISION MAKER comes back in distance after being scratched last Sunday. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – BATTLE ON BATTLER WIN RACE 5 ONLY US raced on Thursday at Pinjarra Park and Ryan Hill loves backing them up off 3 days (or sometimes less!). He finished within a head of Starating and then he was held up for the early parts of the home straight during the week. Going super. WHY ME was backed into $1.80 last start in a ridiculously strong betting move and then unfortunately for those punters who took the shorts he got held up at crucial stages and isn’t a sprint off a dime type. Better suited drawing wider to join the moving line. PLAYING QUEST got the job done last start and Soldanelle has won since. I’M NIPOTE next. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ONLY US WIN RACE 6 SANTANOVA looks the one here. She got herself comfortably to the breeze last start this track/distance from barrier 7 of 7 and really never looked like being beat in the run. Luckless on debut, strong winner at her second outing and maps to get across here to a commanding position. Think she’s above average. TWIGGER went to the line locked together with Roundabout Glory fresh and should only improve off that. KIA ORA TATOU was a late scratching at the Friday Pinjarra meeting a fortnight ago. Trialled well enough. SPEEDY NOVA next. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – SANTANOVA WIN RACE 7 ANOTHER STRIKE is in on Saturday at Pinjarra (Best Bet) and in on Sunday at Bunbury. If Lou Luciani races him Saturday – we bet, if Lou Luciani races him Sunday…you get the idea. Think this race actually has a bit more depth than Saturday so in an ideal world he’s scratched from this but if he starts we simply have to follow up on his super return to racing. OUR MATE ARCHIE is a sharp galloper. Still very raw and has plenty to learn but he’s got a future. WICKED VENOM has bounced between Saturday 66+ and midweek type 60+ grade for a long time and is going very well. ORACLE SON does a bit wrong. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ANOTHER STRIKE WIN RACE 8 VILLAGE GIRL has run some monster races over the last 12 – 18 months from horrible barriers/maps. This looks another tricky steer for Chanel Cooper but there’s enough speed across the entire line to suggest that if she leaves cleanly she should be able to lob a spot in a race where they may string out. Deserves one. SCHUHBECK was home last start before throwing his head to the sky and saying ‘not today Yuilly’. Serious trust issues. THE BIG ONE got caught up in a speed battle last Sunday (first 800m run 12L faster than average). FRUIT LOOPS is getting closer. Numbers: 1 – 12 – 3 – 13 Suggested Bet – VILLAGE GIRL WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,5 2,4 1,2,5 1,2,3,4,12,13 Market Market
