Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on December 20, 2024December 20, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SNIFFY TIFFY races like she could use another lap, however, she’s also drawn a barrier for the first time in the campaign. She has been getting a mile out of her ground and doing her best work late so hopefully she can settle a couple of pairs closer and that could be the difference. BOYZ LITE UP went around a well supported $2.20 favourite last start and was just grinding late. AGRABAH has put the writing on the wall at his last two and can be put into the contest if need be. DECISION MAKER was finishing off as well as anything in the Summer’s Legacy race and that was run ~7.5L faster than the Star Prophet race. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – SNIFFY TIFFY EACHWAY RACE 2 DE GRANDHOMME looks extremely hard to beat here. Trialled well at Lark Hill beating home key rival and stablemate Chinese Dentist and made his debut down the 1000m straight in a 3 year old 0MWLY when running into sharp filly (and again stablemate) Supernatural. Drops 1kg back into a maiden and draws to get the run of the race. CHINESE DENTIST has trialled alongside De Grandhomme and Seven Candles. Genuine danger. HELL’S CITI has gone well on numerous occasions in previous preparations and shouldn’t be a maiden long. OUTLAW MUSIC is quick but expect Snippagent is quicker. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – DE GRANDHOMME WIN RACE 3 OPAL TANGO drops into a maiden for the first time in her career. She resumed in a C1 at Pinjarra behind Ain’tsobad, Skytalker, At Your Service in a deep race and drop only carries 1kg more in a 3 year old maiden. Drawn poorly but has trialled well and raced well this campaign and if she can overcome the barrier expect she goes well. BLUE PEPPER will always carry with her the $350,000 Sale Topper tag. She’s yet to justify the price. ONE FLEW OVER wasn’t disgraced on debut and visors will help. WHO SAZ YES ran a ripper in that same race at 80-1. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – OPAL TANGO WIN RACE 4 COONDLE should be hard to beat fourth-up. Fresh ran into a flying Nonesospicy (since won a 3 year old Plate), second-up finished second to Rissoles (races in a 66+ F&M on Saturday at Ascot) and then last start finished 3L off Supernatural down the straight (form could look even better should De Grandhomme win Race 2). Great use of claim, great map. Ready. MONEY TREES was able to lead and control last start and fought back bravely under Extreme Ruler who looked to head him on straightening. Plenty to like. SUPER SNIPPY finally broke through last start down the straight. ISHKUR has trialled well for her new trainer. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – COONDLE WIN RACE 5 BIONDO is double accepted for the $50,000 maiden at Ascot on Saturday and this standard $25,000 maiden on Sunday at Bunbury. There’s a conservative 5L difference between the pair and if he was to scratch on Saturday to save for this then he would be very popular. PILBARA SONG is a 32 start maiden but his recent form actually isn’t too bad for a race of this nature. Don’t discount him. REEL THEMOFF is better than he’s currently displaying. DANEA ROCK and ULTIMATE DEEL both may want further. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – BIONDO WIN RACE 6 GO GO GROMMET clearly has a love for the 1000m straight at Pinjarra Park and no doubt the Gangemi Brothers and connections were praying that this meeting would not be transferred to Bunbury, but if he does still start it’s a great race for him. Proven 1000m horse and IF he jumps he should be leading without much pressure. JELLY CAN RUN is better suited over further and better suited on wet tracks but from the box seat still looks the danger. WISE WORDS and THERMOSPHERE LAD both resume on the grass off dirt preparations. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – GO GO GROMMET WIN RACE 7 ROYAL SPELDOUR has had two runs this campaign, finishing 2L off now Sir Ernest Lee Steere Classic winner Cashel Palace and 2.3L off a flying Belta Of A Song (won her last three on the bounce) when unable to get clear. Form looks right but the 28 days between runs out to 1675m just leaves a little bit of a query. BIG SWOOP is first-up, no trial at 1675m. That’s actually a really suitable profile for a stayer like him. Has no numerical form fresh but don’t be surprised to see him run a big race. TIFF’S LAD is a monumental class dropper. CANGGU was unsuccessfully plunged last start. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – ROYAL SPLENDOUR WIN RACE 8 GI GI POPS is a good filly. Beaten by the barrier/pattern on debut on a Soft7, strong winner at her second outing in a winner producing maiden and then only won by a head in a 3 year old 0MWLY but that was the day that Shaun McGruddy dropped his reins half way up the straight (happens to the best!) and she went from third gear to neutral. Should nearly be undefeated and expecting she’ll end up in some big races come the autumn. CANNY CONI is going super and there’s a win in the near future for her. THE BIG ONE is always a chance in this grade. SOLDANELLE is Soldanelle. Good luck. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 12 – 4 Suggested Bet – GI GI POPS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) FD 1,3 1,7,8 10 Market Market
