Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on January 29, 2021January 31, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MERITIA hasn’t been seen since his 2 year old days and resumes first-up no trial but the debut run was full of merit in a Saturday 2 year old set weights and penalties race when running third behind Born to Rule and Continuance. Should be strong enough form in what looks an evenly graded maiden. HIGH PRECISION caught the eye on debut down the 1000m straight. Entire family has had a stack of raw ability. STARLIFT trialled well enough to play a part. KIPITAKI went close last start. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – MERITIA WIN RACE 2 WESTERN EMPIRE holds the title as the most talented (and highly rated) maiden in WA. Not many can boast a second placing in the Listed Fairetha, fourth placing in the WA Guineas to Watch Me Dace, Em Tee Aye and Dom to Shoot before a third to Kissonallforcheeks and Solaia in the Lee Steere when forced to lead. If the Cerise and White didn’t have Magical Dream in the feature he would have been there. Instead he is in a maiden. TAKEMEHOMETONIGHT and COTCHIN are both nice triallers on debut and unfortunately may well run into a potential top liner. WARDIAN showed ability but was very wayward lasts preparation. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – WESTERN EMPIRE WIN RACE 3 SOMETHINGREADY was plunged in betting last start and couldn’t get any close than third in a real sit sprint type of race. Ran home in a near identical final 600 to Antique Jewel in that race and now draws inside her and has blinkers added for the first time. You would think whatever beats her wins. ANITQUE JEWEL is probably being ridden closer than her ideal position due to inside gates and race patterns. Still think once she gets a genuinely run race and a fair surface we’ll see a nice filly. GINGER SENROITA was impressive down the straight and then didn’t get much luck last start. FLASH DUCATI likely to get back and run on. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – SOMETHINGREADY WIN RACE 4 TRISEUM gets one more chance in another very weak maiden field. Was eye catching late behind Datalka two starts ago when jumping out of the ground late beating home subsequent winner Surf Point. Was travelling in behind them last start when the horses in front of her were stopping and when she got out the race was over. Still rattled late. Ready to win. KAYALNI is actually going super at the minute. Big efforts the last few and on the quick back up can give some cheek. SPECIAL PICTURE was an improver last start and is getting closer. JOLLY ODD is going well and leads without challenge. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – TRISUEM WIN RACE 5 THE ROAN RANGER broke his maiden two starts ago and then went straight into a m66+ when racing outside the handicap and running out of his skin to finish a narrow third. Form certainly didn’t get the enhancement expected on Wednesday with Celtic Diva going below expectations but still back into a C1 he has to be the one to beat. AHOYOKA FROST is never far from the action but struggles to win. MALAKHI was a big improver last start. TWENTY EIGHT ROCK will appreciate a smaller field to get past. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE ROAN RANGER WIN RACE 6 GLASGOW GIRL looks to have found a very nice race without any real pressure. Expecting Boy Hill to take her straight to the top from the draw and then rack and stack. Once he gets his breather he’ll be going through his gears and the mare has excellent race form for this. Will have all rivals behind her and the way that Bunbury has been playing this season, she looks awfully hard to run down. ANGELIQUE’S FAME is the obvious danger and likely favourite. Given a peach by Parnham last two and unable to get over them. Hard to knock her given she’ll get a peach again. DANNY GEORGE and BLAZING TYCOON went well down the straight last start. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – GLASGOW GIRL WIN RACE 7 MAGICAL DREAM is a powerful filly on the rise. She will have to be good to get past Solaia who is no slouch and will hold a 3-4 length headstart on her turning for home but her fresh win was electric when being held up until the 250 and then letting down brilliantly to win untouched. Steps to 1400m, push button type of filly and an exciting proposition. SOLAIA is the obvious danger on paper and likely to sit outside stablemate No Surrender and they’ll control the tempo and dictate the race to their own liking. Big danger. NO SURRENDER doesn’t have the same level of polish as the fillies but he tries and is tough as they come. HOT MIX gets it soft along the fence. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – MAGICAL DREAM WIN RACE 8 NO APOLOGY has been building all preparation and he looks primed to peak fourth up in the preparation. Backs up from last Saturday when running a solid third behind Zetorio and Cousin Ivan in a 65+. Drops back in grade into a C3 and after the claim for Laqdar Ramoly gets in with only 3kg more in this grade. Drawn a gate to settle at least a pair closer in the run and looks well placed by the highly in form SJ Miller yard. THAT’S FUNNY AZ was plunged first-up and found the 1200 too short. Up to 1400 puts him right in the mix. CHIEF ARCHER won a 0MWLY at his most recent in style. Draw hurts. WESTERN RHYTHM is a capable mare but needs luck in her races. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – NO APOLOGY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1 1,2,4,5 2,6 1,2,3,6,10 Market Market
