Scott Embry’s Sunday Belmont Preview Posted on November 18, 2022November 21, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MILITARY POWER was crunched in betting on debut. Opened on the third line of betting at $4.60 and jumped $2.35. Crossed from barrier 10 of 10 kicked into the corner but was no match for fellow impressive trial winner Estimator. More than happy to follow that as a form reference and from a better draw shouldn’t have to burn as much petrol early to find the top. Leads and kicks. GREY MISTRESS comes back into a maiden and drops weight out of a 3 year old 0MWLY. Looks the danger. EYESHADOW finds a maiden sooner rather than later when drawing a barrier. GOD’S WRATH beat Madame Magic in his trial win. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet – MILITARY POWER WIN RACE 2 PLAYHOUSE PATRON was beaten a nose by Demolish in a 1400m maiden at Northam two starts ago. Demolish goes to the WA Guineas on Saturday at Ascot. Last start went to a 3 year old 0MWLY and while finishing 3.5L off them that race has produced Demolish and Amjaad to impressive wins. Blinkers off and both winkers and Chris Parnham on. Ticks a few boxes. UNCLE GERARD is still a work in progress. He clearly has above average ability but is still doing plenty wrong. MEGAMI is first-up at 1650m which is an ask but her trial was highly impressive under Jarrad Noske. OPTIMAL is closing in on a maiden win. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – PLAYHOUSE PATRON WIN RACE 3 ARNRAY will be winning races, there’s no doubt about that. Has had 13 starts and finished in the money 7 times. Third in a 0MWLY behind Brother Paddy last preparation was a run that flashed huge potential. Going to follow up off his first-up C1 1400m performance when finishing off strongly late. LET’S ERUPT was well found at a price last start. $126 into $18 and ran a ripper. The overall race time was 4.5L faster than average and the form through Restful has been franked. PREPARE FOR CHANGE is coming to hand quickly. KING KAURI had the back of Alaskalot in running last start but failed to finish off. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – ARNRAY WIN RACE 4 CHINA SPIRIT looked good at trials. Not tested behind Toronado Bull and then was let off the leash in the most recent trial when winning by over 1.5L. From a powerful ownership ground, from a highly market respected stable so he won’t be missed in the market but expecting him to go close on debut. WOLFMAN has caught the eye at trials. Don’t discount on debut. THE BIG GALOOT trialled far better than he raced. Watch. OCEAN AVENUE will be doing his best late. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – CHINA SPIRIT WIN RACE 5 CIAO LUNA was a $120,000 yearling who did a fair bit of racing (without luck) in her 2 year old preparation. Given a decent spell, trialled super at Albany and let rip with a big turn of foot at her return when scoring. The second horse Cruisey Roy raced at Northam on Wednesday and won a 3 year old 0MWLY beating Madame Magic. Worth following. DIVINE FLIRT put it all together last start and never looked like being beaten in the run. Starting to do things right. BIGIDEAS draws a gate and should get a nice midfield run. VICTORY VIXEN an improver back to a C1. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – CIAO LUNA WIN RACE 6 FIORUCCI MAMA went around favourite last start at Northam in a C3 1300 with 58.5kg. Drops down to 57.5kg after the claim, drops from a C3 back into a C1 and drops from 1300m back to 1200m. Shouldn’t have any issues finding the front and from there Luke Campbell will roll for home in front and she should prove hard to run down. THE GREAT HOYA was perennially underrated last preparation. Box seats and looks the danger. TRASURED PRIZE trialled nicely but may need the outing returning off a 500 day break. I’M ALL MISS has some X-Factor about her. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – FIORUCCI MAMA WIN RACE 7 KARALEE ROCKS, HAMMARMILL, MY DILEMMA all impressive last start winners. CROSS STATEMENT and OUR WIND SPIRIT well placed back in grade. REBELZONE an impressive trial winner and drawn to enjoy the run of the race. Plenty of different options in this and thinking it will likely divide opinions. Hard not to follow up on the blistering first-up win of KARALEE ROCKS but will need them to be making ground. Watch and wait. HAMMARMILL likely settles a few pairs in front of her and has a big L600 too. CROSS STATEMENT can lead and get things cheap. REBELZONE gets a gun run. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – KARALEE ROCKS WIN RACE 8 SOVIET SPY has been trialling like a horse who will be going through the grades this preparation. Stayer first-up at 1650m and can wind up with a sustained turn of acceleration. Barrier and weight says be wary but it’s hard to ignore those trials over unsuitable distances. Really impressed with how he looks to be going. NERO KING has winkers on but more importantly returns to Belmont Park. Just don’t think he’s an Ascot horse. No surprise to see him improve lengths back to Belmont. QUEEN ALINA is now in an awkward part of her preparation. Talented mare. DAD’S BIGHEADED gets a near identical run to last start. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOVIET SPY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,5,10 1,3,4,5 1,2,4,5,9,10 4,6 Market Market
