Scott Embry’s Sunday Ascot Preview Posted on March 7, 2025March 7, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NICELY PLAYED and AMAROO STAR met last start at Belmont Park over 1000m. On that occasion NICELY PLAYED led, AMAROO STAR sat in the breeze and there was a 1L margin between them on the line. Looks the identical set up here and not convinced that 1kg is enough to turn the tables over the short course. AMAROO STAR also has bar plates on which only pushes you further into the corner of the filly. KING’S DRAMA has finished off well in both outings so far. MODERN MISS next best. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SILENT ALERT WIN RACE 2 WITH DISCRETION really caught the eye late in a C3 1500 behind Lex Piper Stakes bound Too Soon last time when the blinkers went on. He was only getting busy late and then thought he charged to the line through traffic and was a ‘be on me next run’ type of performance. Back in grade into a C1 and going to follow him through. FAYOLA BABY looks a nice filly in the making and could potentially still be heading towards the WA Oaks? Shades on, drawn to box seat, she’s a big danger. WESTERN LADY was winding up well behind Helluva Goddess first-up. CENTRE BOND gets weight relief. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – WITH DISCRETION WIN RACE 3 OVERDRIVE has been travelling into her races brilliantly but not quite finishing them off. Neville Parnham takes the blinkers off, drops her back into a C1 and looks hard to beat. She’s finished second in back to back 3 year old 0MWLY events and this C1 looks considerably thinner than her recent outings. SANCTIONS got into a bumping dual with Come On Emma last time out and it brought both of them undone! RISE TO GLORY beat a pair of handy fillies in his maiden win at Northam back in October. DELTA LASS was only half a length behind Overdrive last start. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – OVERDRIVE WIN RACE 4 CRYPTIC JOY won his maiden well and beat a couple of more than capable maiden types in Star Supreme, Amaroo Star and Niccimota. Went straight into a Westspeed Platinum that contained Cessation and subsequent winner Jaz Session and now drops back into a more suitable C3 1000. They’ll really burn here so expecting him to take a sit and look to pounce late. TAWKIN’ JIBBERISH is through the same event and beat him home by nearly 3L, however, she’s drawn barrier 9 of 9 with plenty of speed underneath her here. TORPEDOMAN is always an X-Factor if they let him run. MAGIC BELLE knows how to run a minor. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – CRYPTIC JOY WIN RACE 5 ACES TO WIN has attacked the line hard at both starts this campaign. The Galactic Empire / Fayola Baby race and then the Fayola Baby / Polyvanova races are both more than enough in terms of form references, it’s just the fact he always gets back. Will need eachway to entertain a bet. HEWILLDOUS really caught the eye late behind Superfluous and subsequent plunge winner Masterly. Again, another back marker. FINAL CALL can march forwards and is an improving type. PRODUCTIVE has blinkers on and Pike on. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – ACES TO WIN EACHWAY RACE 6 ALL GRUNT v TOO SOON looms as a mouthwatering clash in an otherwise lacklustre Lex Piper Stakes. ALL GRUNT has been huge at all three runs this campaign, while TOO SOON has been very impressive in his two wins since arriving in WA. Going to side up with ALL GRUNT because the Challenge Form through Deel Her In / Flower Of Gold has more appeal than the C3 form beating Centre Bond. SAIL SESSION and SUPERFLUOUS are the next pairing but think the top two might have a bit more up their sleeves in the home straight. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – ALL GRUNT WIN RACE 7 TWILIGHT TALE is untapped and doing everything on raw ability in her first preparation of racing, but what she’s showing is extremely exciting. She’s got point to point acceleration, she’s got staying bloodlines and she’s drawn to get a gun run midfield with cover. Think she’s the starting point in the WA Oaks conversation and hard to beat in the lead up features too. GLASGOW LASS had nothing go right last start but still went super. FLOWER OF GOLD only improves fitness wise second-up. GI GI POPS is a tough filly but 1800 may stretch? Numbers: 8 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – TWILIGHT TALE WIN RACE 8 SOSO LUCKY “will need to be fired out of a cannon to win from there” – which at that point of the race was an accurate description of the $3 favourite. She jumped out of the ground to get within a half head of Sky Duke and looks to be screaming out for 1400m now. Looks a great race for her. PLAYING GAMES was popular last start but put in a below par run. Looked gone at the 500 but came again late in a head scratching performance. MISS WALL STREET finished third behind Premium Girl and Gi Gi Pops in a really strong C3 fresh. OUR ROCKY BAY is always there abouts. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – SOSO LUCKY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,12 1,2 2,4,5,8,9,12 2,5,8 Market Market
