Scott Embry’s Saturday Roebourne Preview Posted on July 1, 2022July 1, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SHACKLETON has been to Roebourne once in his life and ran second, that was in a 68+ when finishing behind Counter Drive beaten a neck. This is only a 63+ and only a 4 horse field. Coming out of 70+ racing at Broome and should find this lengths easier. Gets his chance to break back through. MYBAK and SHINJU dead heat for second last start behind Sixpence Spent. Thought the run of MYBAK was slightly superior and so we’ll side with him for second and SHINJU for third. That leaves the speedy FLYING ARABIAN in for fourth. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SHACKLETON WIN RACE 2 COMMANDS RESPECT lead them up at Pinjarra two starts ago and finished only 2L off Silver Bugg and Hero In The Wind. Was then over a month between outings when a fast finishing third behind Starring Knight and Aidan’s Choice. Not sure of the strength of that from a grass form perspective but for a Roebourne maiden with Lisa Staples going on it’s more than sufficient. PEPPI GROVE went super last start and the entire Malcom Mackenzie team is flying. SECOND CHOICE finished second to I’m Believable and then went to a C3 last start when not disgraced behind Block Of Land. Danger. TOP NOTCH SCOTCH ran well at the first meeting. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – COMMANDS RESPECT WIN RACE 3 FEMME PUISSANTE won a C3 at Carnarvon two starts ago beating Pocket Pistol and Prince Saiyan. Last start went with Tom Pike’s wide travelling team back to the grass at Pinjarra and finished third behind My Marliana and Norich (super run in a 60+). Proven Roebourne commodity (winner at the track previously) and another where we can continue our following of Lisa Staples in the country. FOO TROUBLE is a different horse when he can work his way to the top. Not showing his same gate speed but this race looks his best chance so far of getting across to at least breeze. MODERN TIMES is racing below his best at the minute. On his day he’s hard to run down. MISS BRIGHTON can box seat and go well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – FEMME PUISSANTE WIN RACE 4 REVEREND JOHN is a rising 10 year old and we might be going a start too soon considering he’s never won second-up in his career but thought his first-up effort in a 65+ when finishing last but only fading out in the last 150m wasn’t too bad at all. This is lengths weaker and he might sneak under the radar. SOUTHERN TURF is going better than numerical form suggests. This is a weak race and he’s another who could improve at odds. PRETTY ADMIRABLE went well at her first start in Roebourne. SUNDAY AT SIX brings Broome form and you’d think on face value it’s simply stronger than what you get in Roebourne. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – REVEREND JOHN WIN RACE 5 HEZAZEB took 28 starts to break his maiden but looks every chance of making it two in a row all of a sudden. Won a provincial maiden at Pinjarra grinding down Look Here Punk in the last 50m on a Heavy8 over 1500. Fitness isn’t an issue and he takes on a field of long time C1s and maidens. This is actually easier than his Pinjarra maiden field so if he holds form and gets through the dirt he looks hard to beat. CALLING CARD finished third albeit beaten a long way at his first Roebourne appearance. NOT REALLY TRUE has the experience on the surface and is starting to peak. Won’t get a better chance than this. SNIPAWAY is yet to really find his feet but the run two starts ago was alright. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – HEZAZEB WIN RACE 6 RHINO BUSTER is an old marvel. He’s been round for years and years and once he gets to peak fitness and finds form he’s really hard to beat in anything he contests. Aaron Pateman’s yard has been wheeling out winner after winner so far in the NW and see no reason why Rhino Buster can’t give him the first #Cup of the circuit. TEST OF STRENGTH has come back in career best form. Big winner at Carnarvon and backed it up at the opening meeting at Roebourne belting subsequent winner Block of Land. Hard to fault. ZIP YOUR LIPS will be a lovely horse for these kinds of races. Struggled on the dirt in Broome but this is a completely different ball game. MADRID CENTRO a chance if he can roll.
