Michael Heaton’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on July 1, 2026July 1, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 COSMO RULER looks very hard to beat. She was beaten a nose first up which followed a nice trial win on a soft-6 track, she gets Pike aboard from an ideal draw now and she should fly through the wet conditions being by Universal Ruler. FIELD MISTRESS has drawn sticky but was solid first up in a race which impressive subsequent winner Western Miss came out. PEMBERTON has shown glimpses throughout his career and resumes off the back of two trials. He should get a soft run over distance which is much more suitable for him. MYSTIC CHAOS hasn’t been too far away lately and can track Cosmo Ruler in running. Numbers: 6-7-1-5 Suggested Bet – COSMO RULER WIN RACE 2 AMERICAN IMAGE was a nice effort on debut when reeling off the fastest closing sectionals of the meeting to finish second to Dance On Son over 1000m then stepped straight to 1400m at her next run where she found a lot of traffic issues on straightening. She now backs up off 8 days with William Pike jumping onboard and this looks a great race for her to break through in. LORD MOMO backs up out of the same race when getting back in a stack-and-rack affair which didn’t suit but he was good late when running the fastest last furlong. YOUANMI wasn’t effective ridden on-speed second up and can improve sharply ridden with cover this time around. MR UNIVERSE can lead and dictate. Numbers: 7-2-4-3 Suggested Bet – AMERICAN IMAGE WIN RACE 3 CATCH CARTER led throughout to win well over 1200m two starts back then stepped to 1300m and set a breakneck tempo in front before knocking up late in a race where the last six horses in running were the first six horses across the line. He did a decent job to stick on as well as he did all things considered and the drop back to 1200m here is much more suitable. LEETRON was stiff first up at $41 then gave a lot of cheek in front second up when finishing third to Territory Man and Glanced in a Saturday Graduation. His best form is on wet tracks and this looks a highly suitable race for him. TORONADO ROCKET is four weeks between runs but gets 2kg on Catch Carter from his last start as well as a nice map and Pike on for the first time this prep. BUDERIM loves getting his toe in and his recent trial was sharp. Numbers: 2-4-5-7 Suggested Bet – CATCH CARTER WIN RACE 4 SHOWLAS trialled up enormous in her mid-preparation trial on June 2 when being reprogrammed to be ridden off the speed and then she was a great run when finishing strongly to finish third on an on-speed day at Bunbury. She now drops from a C5 to a C3, has options from her good draw and she’s capable on wet tracks. SOSO LUCKY is a hard mare to catch but this is a better race for her on a rain-affected track which is where her best form has come and with the booking of Pike. COUNTESS OF KENNA trialled a month ago but goes well fresh and in the wet so she’s a watch at her first start for Brad Graham and the Pontiff. MISS ALTAIR brought handy east coast form to her WA debut where she got too keen in front and now SJ Miller rips the blinkers straight off her. Numbers: 1-2-4-3 Suggested Bet – SHOWLAS WIN RACE 5 VEXATIOUS ROSE found a winnable race last week before unfortunately getting scratched at the barriers. She’s placed at 8 of her 10 career starts to date, looked the winner first up before getting swamped in the final strides and providing she finds clear air from her inside draw here, she should look the winner at some stage. BANGALONG went around at $31 last week and was a huge run to flash from last on an on-speed day to finish a nose second. She can position up a touch closer from her better draw. MIDNIGHT DEAL looks like she’ll appreciate the rise to 1600m and she gets Pike. THE LITHGOW FLASH likely settles last but she’s caught the eye at her first two starts and will be doing her best work late. Numbers: 9-11-13-14 Suggested Bet – VEXATIOUS ROSE WIN RACE 6 Tough race. Siding up with No Peer on spec first up, no trial for Donna Riordan who can produce a fresh winner. The mare’s last 12 starts have been in metro 60+ grade, including a Saturday Graduation placing on a heavy-8 track at Pinjarra, so she’s brilliantly placed racing in a 46+ for the first time in 18 months. THREE GRAND continues to savage the line since being successfully reprogrammed and will find this easier than recent assignments. ACROSS GENERATIONS resumes off the back of two solid trials in good company and his only win to date came first up. STATE OF FURY found the step to a hard-run 1700m last start a bridge too far but her previous two efforts were sound and she maps well here. Numbers: 3-5-6-11 Suggested Bet – NO PEER EACH-WAY RACE 7 APPARATUS has been screaming out to win a race all preparation but has been plagued by a mixture of outside gates, traffic issues and getting too far out of his ground. He’s going far better than reads on paper, is better suited dropping back to 1400m as well as coming back in grade and this race sets up for him to be a bit closer to them on straightening. BANNERED is well placed dropping 1kg in the same grade he won in last week after ZJP’s claim and he has the tactical speed to roll forward from his awkward draw. SANDFIRE loves a wet track and is capable of improving sharply at her second run back. FIVE DOWN has put together two big replay watcher’s runs this prep and he’s another one who is ready to win but his best form is on top of the ground. Numbers: 6-1-5-7 Suggested Bet – APPARATUS EACH-WAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4 9,11,13 3,4,5,6,7,11 1,2,5,6,7 360 combinations Market Market
