Scott Embry’s Saturday Port Hedland Preview Posted on July 15, 2021July 15, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AUTOMATIC had her first start on the dirt at Roebourne when finishing third behind stablemate Can’tcatchthis and Snow Princess. Should only benefit from that experience and from the inside draw can sit just in behind the speed. Looks like breaking her maiden before season’s end. KHAVIYAR comes from a C1 back into maiden company and was only beaten 4L in the C1 at her most recent. TOP POCKET has promised to win a maiden all season and while 1300m is on the short side for him he’s getting closer and closer. SNOW PRINCESS is honest but continues to find one or two better. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – AUTOMATIC WIN RACE 2 WELD looks to have found the ideal race to record another win. Was backed off the map three starts ago at Roebourne when absolutely bolting in to win by 2L eased down over Rivarola and Victoriouschino. Comes out of the Harding Cup when running third behind Counter Drive and Sixpence Spent and that should be the best form for this race. Drawn to stay out of trouble. PATYS FORCAST has been unable to reproduce her eye catching run of 3 starts ago which sticks in the mind. BENNY BEAU is improving with racing and getting closer to breaking through. CLEO’S AFTERPARTY has been around the mark all campaign. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – WELD WIN RACE 3 BITOVEMU has had three starts for Chris Gilbert which have produced a third at Roebourne behind Demeritise and Chengdu, a second to Femme Puissante and a third behind Frair’s Gift and Sixpence Spent. That most recent run behind Friar’s Gift and Sixpence Spent looks the strongest form reference and with the senior rider going abord she gets the nod. ME ‘N’ TAZ hasn’t quite had any races run to suit yet. This is his chance to find the front and control the tempo. NORTHERN CHILL is knocking on the door and running for Chris Graham. DEMERITISE won well first-up and since has been a little flat. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – BITOVEMU WIN RACE 4 FRIAR’S GIFT has really found form at his last two. Won a 1200m at Port Hedland beating the stablemate Sixpence Spent and then at Roebourne last week was a dominant winner by 3L and could have won by 5+ if he was let go by Andrew Castle. Weight is no worries for him, draw is the only minor concern. Never a big fan of drawing the inside on the dirt. LICKETY SPLIT was only run down late by a flying Big Caroline last start and clearly she’s every bit as good as Friar’s Gift on her day. ANVIL GREEN is yet to find his feet this season. Keep safe. MISS MANDY won well last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – FRIAR’S GIFT WIN RACE 5 BIG CAROLINE is the class mare in the race and she is allocated an enormous amount of weight as a result. She’s drawn in gate 1 and if Tyla Becker can sit leader’s back she’ll be there a long way and is more than capable of lifting under the huge impost to make a contest of it. Clearly if you’re following a 9 year old mare with 62.5kg over 2000m you’re looking for an eachway quote. AMBER HIGHWAY didn’t get the best of runs last start. Was looking for moving room and was held up at crucial stages. GALIBA is going great guns and thriving on the dirt. SCINTILLATING was an enormous win first-up and far from disgraced last start behind In The Bag who won well at Broome and looks a Derby Cup special. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – BIG CAROLINE EACHWAY RACE 6 SIXPENCE SPENT burst through gaps at Port Hedland three starts ago when scoring an emphatic victory when finding a lot of support in the market place. Has since run back to back minor placings at Port Hedland and Roebourne behind Friar’s Gift and Counter Drive. With Friar’s Gift and Weld going on top earlier in the program by this stage that form could look super. MISS CIRCLEWORK will need an ounce of luck early to work forward from the barrier. TIME AND TRUTH is going well after a fair old spell leading into this prep. LAMPLIGHT LILI is going to be hit and miss considering how much she hates the kickback. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – SIXPENCE SPENT WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3,4,5 1,2 1,2,4,5,7 1,3,5,6,8 Market Market The TABtouch Lounge with Peter Vlahos and Declan Kelly on SEN Track.
