Scott Embry’s Saturday Pingrup Preview Posted on March 17, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 OUR GIRL BORAM has had 11 starts in her career and is yet to fill a placing, however, her recent efforts at Albany have all been handy. She finished 1.7L off Strenia at Barker in January in fourth, 3.5L off Naughty Gossip and then 4L off Danube River in recent maidens at Albany. That’s good enough to sit over the speed and give cheek in a maiden at Pingrup. THIRSTY FIX is a 6 year old mare at her 10th career outing. She lead on a Heavy track at Pinjarra last June and finished third behind Magical Gem. HAWK was good at Pinjarra behind Diaond Rocks and then went too hard at Mingenew. ROSA BALLERINA attacked the leader at Mingenew and faded out late. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – OUR GIRL BORAM WIN RACE 2 FRIAR’S GIFT is a 10-year-old veteran of 77 outings. This preparation he has finished third at Narrogin in a 52+, 3rd in Albany (only beaten 1.5L Sneaky Fox) in a 58+ and last start was entitled to finish back in the field after covering plenty of additional ground from a tough draw. Fresh 37 days between runs and drawn to get every chance in a very winnable race. FIRE ANT won a 46+ at Narrogin four starts back. Hasn’t fired since but comes through a fast run 1500m race which is about on her distance limit. Better suited to the sprints. URBAN WARRIOR has been going well. 2.5L off Yangtze Rapids at Kojonup measures up for this. COMBAT READY is better than his first run for Tim Stone. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – FRIAR’S GIFT WIN RACE 3 RAGING ROCKET looks well suited in this 48+. Only 2L off Jeanella in a 58+ at Geraldton and only 1.5L off Rakiura and To Rise Again last start at York. Great use of the ZJP claim and from the draw should keep them all within striking distance. VICIOUS VILMA won her first race at Albany after 4 years of trying. She’s clearly in a good space and can go back to back. PRINCE SAIYAN is well suited to racing in these 48+ type races. BITOVEMU is no stranger to travel and to these unique once a year picnic style surfaces. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – RAGING ROCKET WIN RACE 4 TOPPA THE MOUNTAIN has been a frustrating acquisition for Peter & Kayla Farrell. They have worked hard to get him more tractable with a myriad of gear changes over a number of starts but they look to have him in a position where he’s ready to win again. No Cut The Talks, Marmooogas, City Angels or Rock This Towns in this. PROTECTED ACTION clearly has the best race form to his name but 63.5kg after the claim is a serious leveller. FEARLESS GENERAL only needs to reproduce his Sir Snugalot effort from two back. DYNAMITE BAY didn’t show up after going to Kojonup. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – TOPPA THE MOUNTAIN WIN RACE 5 MAGIC OF ZEUS was well found in betting at Esperance two starts ago when beating stablemate and impressive subsequent winner Galiba and then never fired a shot behind Frankie Blue Eyes on Cup Day. 55kg after the claim and drawn to stalk the speed. Willing to forgive and forget and follow him into the 2023 Pingrup Cup. IN THE BAG had an outrageously good preparation last season in Broome. He won a 58+, 2x 64+ and a Cable Beach Cup. He’s a c80 rater and the class horse. Tough to win first-up at 1660 with 61kg but he should be able to roll to the top and get things his own way. Huge respect. SALON DU CHEVAL hasn’t fired since returning but this is lengths easier than recent starts. ODDONEOUT next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAGIC OF ZEUS WIN RACE 6 KING OF PLANETS is a query at the end of a mile, but new trainer Kevin Mahoney has him going well. Gave plenty of cheek at Esperance two starts ago and then ran home nicely last start at 1400m. They don’t get much weaker than this. FINAL PLAN had a freshen from December to February and was beaten a long way but it was over 1240m and he’s a horse who will really appreciate the mile. RONELLEDO was beaten 8L first-up at Ascot but on the back-up and out in trip he looms as a live hope. DUKE OF MAGNUS can be hit and miss. Some of his runs at York would see him highly competitive. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – KING OF PLANETS WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3,4 1,2,5 1,3 1,3,4,5 Market Market
