Scott Embry’s Saturday Kununurra Preview Posted on August 28, 2025August 28, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LADY CABERNET had a consistent Broome season without winning one. She finished second in a pair of C2 1200s and a 50+ 1100 and her most recent defeat was narrow (and deceptive). Up to Kununurra and it looks like Kyra Yuill has been booked by Roy Rogers for his #1 rides all meeting. FAST FREEZE broke her maiden last week by the length of the straight. Reproduces that run and she’ll be hard to beat again. TELLEZ gets 1.5kg and HELLIVIT gets 2kg to try and turn the tables but they were lengths off her. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – LADY CABERNET WIN RACE 2 MAGIC DEFENSE finished 1L off Hide The Oreos and The Final Word last week in the 56+ 1350 and was definitely below her best, and still needs to turn the tables on The Final Word but this looks a great chance for Paul Denton to settle closer and ride her like the best horse in the race. THE FINAL WORD beat her home last week and there’s no reason why she can’t again. DUMMY SPIT won the 56+ 1200 last weekend but think the Hide The Oreos race had more depth. TWISTED TRICKSTER brings the alternate form having not raced last weekend. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAGIC DEFENSE WIN RACE 3 REAL DIVINE was a scratching last week from the BM62 and now finds herself in an even more suitable race, a BM48 1350. If she can run to the level that saw her win an RB62 only two starts back then she’s the one to beat. TOPAZ should have no troubles leading and as we saw last week if you can handle the constant turning nature of the track you can kick hard into the bend. WHITTEN didn’t race last week and can put in a shocker from time to time (beaten 10+ on 6 occasions) so forget the fresh run. NUNNIONG ran into a flying Alotta Dane last week. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – REAL DIVINE WIN RACE 4 BUCKLEUP BUDDY won a C2 on the 7 day back-up leading throughout two starts ago by a near 3L margin. Was run down last week in a BM56 1200 by Dummy Spit (goes around in Race 2) and coming back to the 1100m on the quick spin looks a really suitable assignment. Leads for a long way. CITY OF SIN drops back in grade after finishing fourth to Fast Freeze and Tellez. The possible issue with the form is that the winner was still a maiden? BOOM SMASH OPERA comes through a very low rating 48+. This is tougher. VALABING is one of Dick Leech’s – market watch. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – BUCKLEUP BUDDY WIN RACE 5 THANK GOD I GOTHIM was a 22 start maiden heading into last weekend and boy oh boy did he try and turn it up in the last 100m. He was petrified of getting his photo taken and it took every ounce of strength from Aaron Sweeney to lift him over the line. Amazingly 7 days later he has a wonderful opportunity to go back to back. CHERRY STEM was the horse who ran a narrow second in that event and gets 1kg in her favour. LEAN ON ME ran third in an improved performance. WICKED ONE didn’t race last week and given the ‘form’ of this race that could be a good thing. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – THANK GOD I GOTHIM WIN RACE 6 CHEDDAR BOB bolted in last week by over 2.5L. Visually really good and really dominant, however, just in case he goes up a short priced keep in mind that 1) it was a only a 48+; and 2) they stopped the clock 5L slower than average, so it’s unlikely to be a great form race. THE GIRLS BOY comes through a far better race behind Hide The Oreos, The Final Word and Magic Defense. Expect him to put up a big fight. HOLLERBYEBABY is a maiden but the Alotta Dane race rated super. COUSIN NICCI gives cheek IF she jumps. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CHEDDAR BOB WIN RACE 7 FABERGE TZAR won by 6.2L in a time 10L faster than 62+ average vs ALOTTA DANE who won by 6.3L in a time 4L faster than 56+ average. On the ratings out of those races have to side up with FABERGE TZAR again considering he’ll bounce to the top, travel well throughout and then make his move for home from the 400 but expect that a flying ALOTTA DANE will be charging at him late. HIDE THE OREOS isn’t without a chance too, he’s found form and was flying at Broome this time last year. AICHI ICON is fresh onto the Kununurra scene and Austin Galati had a field day last week. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – FABERGE TZAR WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 1,2,5 1,2 3,5 Market Market
