Scott Embry’s ANZAC Day Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 24, 2024April 24, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DREAMTIME JEAN finished third first-up last campaign over 1400m behind Playing Quest and then went to Geraldton when run down by Queen Nardi. Recent trial behind Watch Me Rock was strong enough to suggest that he could win this first-up. LADY DERRINGER kept coming behind $1.40 pop Twist Of Gold last start. She’s shown glimpses at trials and is now starting to put it together at the races. WANNA CRACKER missed away last start and that was the end for him. ELUSIVE DREAM has promised to win a maiden for a few seasons now. Fresh could be best? Numbers: 6 – 8 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – DREAMTIME JEAN WIN RACE 2 DUBLIN RED has become a test of resolve with punters recently. First-up ran second behind Spectacular Park (beating home subsequent metro maiden winner Only Eyes For Him) and then second-up the saddle slipped. No real excuses last start, the stablemate was simply too good in Style Diva. Another great race for her and now MR Peter Fernie calls on Tash Faithfull. Be short again. FLYING THE FLAG was better last start. Drawn to get all the favours. NORTHERN SUNRISE has shown a bit on occasion and should get every chance from the draw. EDWARDS CHOICE is better than what he produced first-up. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – DUBLIN RED WIN RACE 3 REBEL SQUAW finished third to Blue Can Talk at the end of the Esperance Season and then backed it up when a fast finishing second behind stablemate Belles Fantasy (in case anyone didn’t hear it was a J.F.L. Brown stable quinella). A month later she’s out to go one better and looks like she’ll run out a strong 1400m. This isn’t a deep race and she should be rattling home late. SEND EM was a good return behind Right To Silence who has put two together in style at the KBRC. DUKE IAM is going along okay and finally finds a race where he can lead. BETTER THAN EPIC is yet to reproduce the first-up run. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – REBEL SQUAW WIN RACE 4 IT’S A LANCE was a great return first-up without a trial over 1300m when third behind Counter Drive and subsequent Narrogin winner Hafey. Was able to hold out Fleur Delacour last start over 1400m and you could easily make the case that he’s only better suited out to a mile. Same grade, 1.5kg more but a similar line-up and no reason why he can’t go back to back. RED WITH TED has been up for a long time but he continues to race really well. DEEL RED can roll to the top here and is always a chance from the front. ARCADIA JEWEL was doing her best work late last start. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – IT’S A LANCE WIN RACE 5 LOOPY’S BABY has her first start for Peter Fernie and some of her runs for Fred Kersley would see her going very close in a Kalgoorlie C2. Only three starts back she finished less than 2L off Rulelee and Scenic Eclipse – both Saturday winners when wide throughout in a 0MWLY. Nice set up for her. WITCH STREET resumes first-up without a trial. Had a really long campaign when last in work (first-up at Belmont in May and then had another 10 starts concluding in October). Only won once in that period but was really consistent. Keep safe. BELLES FANTASY is enjoying life on the Goldfields. KELLY’S LI ZA LU has put together two good runs this prep. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – LOOPY’S BABY WIN RACE 6 MEN’S CLUB is a different horse when he’s racing in Kalgoorlie as opposed to the metro area. Didn’t fire a solitary shot first-up at AScot when coming under pressure at the 600 in a 1000m race. Second-up he returns to his home track, gets out to 1200m and last season he won 3 separate races in this grade across two campaigns. Forgive, forget and follow. GLUTEN FREE hasn’t raced since the opening meeting when winning well. TALK IT UP wasn’t at his brilliant best first-up but plenty of money came for him which is encouraging. NODUSTONME has forgotten he’s 10 years old. Flying. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – MEN’S CLUB WIN RACE 7 RED CADILLAC and HIGH PRESSURE were no match for Treasured Queen last start – but she’s the most impressive horse we’ve seen so far at Kalgoorlie winning back to back races and probably heads to Ascot in the near future? That’s the obvious form reference and given the way that RED CADILLAC attacked the line fresh it’s hard not to be in her corner. HIGH PRESSURE gets a 2.5kg weight swing which should bring them much closer together and should get across from the barrier. COUNTER DRIVE won well last start and will again look to run and stun. TOWN HALL is more than capable. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – RED CADILLAC WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,4 1,2,4,5,6,8,9 1,2,4,8 2,3 Market Market
