Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on December 26, 2025December 26, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 I HAD A DREAM has promised to win a maiden over a few seasons and preparations now but did improve sharply first-up to second-up and out to 1200 will help him. He’s had a lot (a lot) of chances and opportunity but this is one of the weakest maidens that Esperance has seen. MISS WEINI went around at 50-1 last start in the same race and whilst in the right part of the track certainly finished off well. TAPITLIKEITSSASSY is speedy but 1100m seems to stretch her, let alone 1200. ARCTIC FOX was good fresh and then off the track second-up. Numbers: 1 – 12 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – I HAD A DREAM WIN RACE 2 ZADOWS LANDING comes across from South Australia in the middle of a preparation and given the way that the David Page team is going you’d be brave to suggest he isn’t the one to beat. Can park up close handy and on paper the biggest test looks to be the dreaded Barrier 1 at Esperance. PUISSANCE PLAYBOY was wide throughout first-up and then attacked the line hard second-up. Returned in good order and kept fresh. PURE HEARTED drops back from 1800 to 1400 and the metro/provincial maiden form will no doubt be popular. PANCHO’S PLACE has shown early promise. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – ZADOWS LANDING WIN RACE 3 LACIE ACE is ready to win. Ran second first-up behind Buster’s Girl (race that produced Royal Accolade) and then second-up again ran second to Razmas, with 3L back to third. Should prove hard to beat here. Should park right up close handy and be right in the finish yet again, hopefully can go one better. MISTRESS OF EXCESS got the better of talented type Cap Cavour last time out, great form line that and looms as a legitimate danger. BIONDO heads to the Campbell McCullum team (who are going super) and this is clearly easier than his C1 races back in Perth. SAFE RAPPA continues to run honest races. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – LACIE ACE WIN RACE 4 HEAVENBENT produced a career best win last start and is clearly thriving on racing in Esperance. This is a step up from a C2 to C5 but she was extremely strong late and through the line and gets in with only 52kg. Beat her main danger convincingly last time out and see no reason why she can’t again. RAZMAS was the relatively short priced favourite in that event but after breezing could manage no better than fourth. WEST COAST WARRIOR is so far a shade of the horse we saw last season. METALLIC MARLIN showed a glimpse last start. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – HEAVENBENT WIN RACE 5 MIDNIGHT RUSH looks yet another David Page runner with massive claims on the program. After winning a 58+ 1100m at his first start at the track he then stepped to 1400m when second to a very much in form and flying Dadirra. Looks the right form and they split the difference distance wise back to 1200. SECRECITY has run some cheeky races in town at 50-1 and so heading down to Esperance there’s no doubt she’ll measure up and be winning races. DIEGO DYNAMITE rolls forward and runs his usual honest race. TROPICAL SUN should in theory be suited to the racing style of the region. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT RUSH WIN RACE 6 DADIRRA is testing the waters at 70+ grade but the way that she has won her last two suggests that she’ll more than measure up. Gets in on the min in a big weight spread race and looks to get a big chance at a hat trick. WILD IMAGINATION won last start at 1100m beer a staggering 64kg. He rides up to 66 but now they go with the 2kg claim of Ava Catarino and stays at the same weight start to start. Hard to knock? TACITO was luckless at his WA debut and then second-up went to a 70+ and ran less than 1L off False Statement. DEBONNAIRE is yet to hit his straps. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – DADIRRA WIN RACE 7 CAP CAVOUR opened up over $3 last start and jumped deep into the red. He did absolutely everything wrong (as he tends to do) and was rolled by Mistress of Excess. Alex Hearn goes on and as long as he jumps with them he should be hard to hold out, even if he does run around. Expect there will be plenty of money around for him in betting again and with any luck this time it will land. BUSTER’S GIRL has a 4kg claimer on and should be able to take up a forward position and stay out of trouble. MEAT PIE ARTIE won a recent trial but has a horror draw/map. SHINBONER was luckless in the Cap Cavour race. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – CAP CAVOUR WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,6 5,6,11 1,5,8 1 Market Market
