Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on August 1, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 CALAG was well thought of last start when racing out of his grade. He comes back into a moderate maiden here and should be breaking his maiden status. JEBADIAH keeps running into one or two just slightly better than him on the day. This looks a nice assignment. ACROSS THE SEA ran well first start for Johnny Gangemi. Can lead and go close. CONVICTED MAN doesn’t seem to be handling the dirt that well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CALAG WIN Race 2 SALTY almost ran down a flying Jelani Express last start. Is a natural back marker and the leaders have been going gangbusters at Broome this season but with the right run he can win. SONG OF VINCENT was the target of good backing last start and was huge when left a sitting duck. DESERT THORN improved last start and prior to that was running into Jelani Express. PERDU on the minimum can surprise. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – SALTY WIN Race 3 COLHOUN was good first-up and then brave second start for Rob Gulberti when left stranded three deep the trip without cover. Kayla Cross jumps into the saddle and shes swinging at over 20% winning strike rate. ALI BARBER comes from a race won by Atacama Sky but the time suggests he went extremely well. SAXON PRINCESS is undefeated in Broome and can lead and is hard to beat. DOLCITY was backed last start and ran time in front before fading. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – COLHOUN WIN Race 4 WELL SPOKEN MAN is having arguably his best season to date in the North West. Back to back wins followed by back to back second placings in strong races. He gets his chance here. MEGAACTORY is consistent and rarely far from the action. Looks a nice race for him. SENSE OF DENIAL loomed the winner fresh before fading late. CAPE SOUNION was a shade disappointing last start after missing the kick. Prior was good. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – WELL SPOKEN MAN WIN Race 5 MAJORA’S MASK will only get better and better with racing and will only get better and better as they step out over further by the looks. This is not a deep race and the way he is going he’ll be winning again. CORPORATE STRATEGY seemed to peak at a mile last start which was a query and now steps out to 1800. PRUE is not going that well but can improve if she leads. OUTSPOKEN DUKE showed a bit last start. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – MAJORA’S MASK WIN Race 6 BIG BLOWS was impressive last start when sitting off a very similar field and going bang at the top of the straight. Is still in the running for the Triple Crown and Michelle Hagley has him flying. DIAMOND TONIQUE couldn’t go with him last start but again will improve and looms large for another Broome Cup. ALREADY FAMOUS carries a big weight but is a classy animal. I’M A BLUEBAGGER is always a novelty inclusion. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – BIG BLOWS WIN Race 7 PAIR OF FIVEZ has run second at his past three after winning a moderate maiden race. This race looks his for the taking. It is his weakest assignment in recent times and leads from the inside gate. FLAT BICCY caught the eye late last start. WILLAS WAY is a back maker unsuited at Broome but the senior rider on is a huge positive. VIGNETO is not going as well as when he first arrived. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – PAIR OF FIVEZ WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,5 2 3,5 1,2,3 Market Market
