Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on August 2, 2019 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1 SWEET MADDISON (5) has been racing in collectively stronger fields than she meets tonight and did beat the colts three starts back. She has reasonable gate speed and should give a great sight in a wide-open affair. STAR IN ART (11) has been placed at her last two starts and should be thereabouts from her nice trailing draw. SOHO WHISPER (12) has won three of her seven career starts but has a tough draw to overcome. FIFTY FIVE REBORN (8) is drawn poorly but has plenty of depth and shouldn’t be overlooked. Tips: 5 11 12 8 Suggested Bet: SWEET MADDISON (5) to win. Race 2 WILDWEST (6) won his only start in NZ before recording an ultra-impressive 1.53.9 win at his Australian debut on Monday. This is a lot harder but his times suggest he is clearly the one to beat. BEAUDIENE WESTERN (2) was a beaten favourite at his only run in WA but has plenty of ability and should make his presence felt from this draw. ELSU YOU (4) was held up at a crucial stage when a fast finishing 2nd to PIERRE WHITBY (5) and must be considered. PIERRE WHITBY (5) had the breaks in that event but shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 6 2 4 5 Suggested Bet: WILDWEST (6) to win. Race 3 SIMBA BROMAC (2) was a strong winner from the breeze here before finishing 5th to Vampiro. This represents a drop in class and he should prove hard to beat. WARFARE (4) has finished close-up at his last three starts in stronger company after facing the breeze and must be respected. FOUR STARZZZ FORSA (1) led throughout in a weaker field here last week but must be considered from the pole. FIZZING (7) has been flying in standing start events but is drawn awkwardly tonight. Tips: 2 4 1 7 Suggested Bet: SIMBA BROMAC (2) to win. Race 4 HANDSANDWHEELS (2) was great first-up 2nd before being unable to make up ground in a quick last half here last week. He has good gate speed and should be prominent throughout over the sprint trip. EL JACKO (4) was another who couldn’t make up ground last week but will be suited by the likely hectic early tempo. THEREUGO (7) led throughout here last week and will be hard to catch if he crosses them at the start. IM SOXY (3) faced the breeze when 2nd to THEREUGO (7) last week and should be in the finish again. Tips: 2 4 7 3 Suggested Bet: HANDSANDWHEELS (2) to win. Race 5 CHIAROSCURO (4) led throughout in 1.54.9 here before running on well when 2nd to Thereugo last week. This field looks slightly weaker and he should prove hard to beat. ROMAN AVIATOR (5) will find this easier than his 5th to Major Trojan here last week and looks the main danger. ILLUSIONATION (1) goes up in class but has won two of his last three starts and should give a great sight from the pole. MICHAEL JOSEPH (11) has plenty of ability but this is his first run for five weeks so must be taken on trust. Tips: 4 5 1 11 Suggested Bet: CHIAROSCURO (4) to win. Race 6 SMOLDERING ASHES (2) was held up for a run here last week but can make his own luck from this draw tonight and should prove hard to beat. SPEED MAN (6) is the class runner of the field and can be driven aggressively tonight. LIVURA (9) will appreciate the drop in class but has a tough draw to overcome. JAXON FELLA (1) isn’t racing at his best but looks a good place chance from the pole. Tips: 2 6 9 1 Suggested Bet: SMOLDERING ASHES (2) to win. Race 7 ONE OFF DELIGHT (1) was crossed at the start and trailed Bettor Be Abeliever when 3rd to that pacer in slick time here last week. He races best in front and should give a great sight from the pole. PRESIDENTMACH (4) was a solid 3rd at his first run back from a spell then had no luck here last week. He is drawn handy and should make his presence felt. PRADAS IDEAL DAHLING (2) was a good all-the-way Bunbury winner at his last start and has plenty of ability. BURNING RUBBER (5) disappointed last week but must be respected. Tips: 1 4 2 5 Suggested Bet: ONE OFF DELIGHT (1) to win. Race 8 ELOQUENT MACH (5) won three on end before finishing midfield in the WA Derby. He warmed up for this with a recent standing start trial win and looks to have a class edge on his rivals. DESTINED TO RULE (1) was a fast finishing 2nd to Lincs Tiger in a similar event at his last start and must be considered from the pole. ATMOSPHERICAL (3) showed ability last time in and indicated he was in for a good campaign with a solid 2nd in a recent Pinjarra trial. CRACKA STAR (6) is always a place chance in this type of event. Tips: 5 1 3 6 Suggested Bet: ELOQUENT MACH (5) to win. Race 9 MACZAFFAIR (7) has been placed at her past two starts but is racing well below her best. She is clearly the class mare in the field but must be taken on trust. INFINITE SYMBOL (4) is now back to her best and should give a great sight from this draw. SARAH GOODY (6) is first-up without a trial but would give this a shake if near her top. PARISIAN PARTYGIRL (3) is a consistent mare who should be in the firing line throughout. Tips: 7 4 6 3 Suggested Bet: INFINITE SYMBOL (4) each way. Race 10 WAIMAC ATTACK (3) was a strong 2nd here two starts back before being unable to get into the race last week. He is a good beginner and will be hard to catch if he finds the top. BELTANE (5) was a dominant all-the-way winner in slick time on Monday and should give a great sight despite drawing outside his main rivals. IDEAL ONE (2) will settle in a prominent position and should be thereabouts. DREAMY NIGHTS (4) was a good last start Northam winner and should play a part if he has any luck in running. Tips: 3 5 2 4 Suggested Bet: WAIMAC ATTACK (3) to win. Market Market
