Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on August 18, 2023August 18, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 UNO ME should be able to find the front here in the small field in the opener on Cup Day. Raced at the Tuesday Ladies Day meeting and year in year out the horses who back up off the 4 days go very well. Worked around them deep from the 1200 on Tuesday and wasn’t beaten off that far into fourth. GLENAUREEN ran past him last start and there’s clearly not much between them. Just needs to step cleanly. FREQUENT FRIAR has been around the mark all season. He only has one speed. NITRO LAD was sound behind Getyourmoneyandrun. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – UNO ME WIN RACE 2 SONG CYCLE has run really well at his last two. Sticking with the theme of horses who raced Tuesday and are backing up on Saturday and from barrier 1 he can kick through to lead. Think the 1435m sees him out but if he can pinch a cheap section in the middle stages he should be hard to get past. ORTUM KRISP has really come of age late in the Broome season. Alan Kennedy goes on for ZJP so she skyrockets in the weights up to 59kg which is the obvious query. Going really well and if she carries the weight is hard to hold out. GREATEST DESTINY is going well. YAMATAI put in her best run in Broome on Tuesday. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – SONG CYCLE WIN RACE 3 DON’T WAIVER was unable to get into the race last start and ended up just griding away three deep outside the speed before fading back into fourth. Gets out to 2020m and considering he’s a 2500m winner in SA he should have no worries with the trip. When he was set alight mid-raced at Derby he put on a galloping exhibition. RHYTHM STAR has run second at her last two and is knocking on the door. She’s ready for the staying trip. LUTZ has been going well all season and was really well backed in the 2000m race on 28 July before heading to the Kimberley Cup. PIEROPAN went close in the Derby Cup. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – DON’T WAIVER WIN RACE 4 KELLY’S LASSIE had no peace on Tuesday. Was eye-balled by Gambler’s Gold mid-race and then Uno Me attacked the pair of them three deep from the 1000. Thought she did a reasonable job to battle on. Even race and one of many hopes. WHAT A PRINCE has had two runs on the dirt in Port Hedland. He ran second over 1200m and third over 1200m. Now gets out to a mile and heads to Broome. Keep safe. BART’S BULLET finally stepped a bit cleaner on Tuesday and got the job done. KENNEDY is better suited over this trip. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – KELLY’S LASSIE WIN RACE 5 WAR WARRIOR ran fourth in the Broome Sprint on Tuesday behind Apple Schnapps. On the quick back-up and strikes a race with far less early speed to contend with. They went hard and fast on Tuesday and set it up for a horse like Apple Schnapps from the back. Should park over the speed and did win impressively in the Ladies Sprint at Port Hedland over 1300m. Nice race for him. SIOUX CITY has been a great acquisition for Danny Morton’s NW yard and is sure to acquit himself well. OUR KIWI PRINCESS won well on Tuesday but this is a much deeper race. GETYOURMONEYANDRUN has found his feet on the dirt. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – WAR WARRIOR EACHWAY RACE 6 TRUE ATTRACTION has to carry 65.5kg in the Cup and having drawn barrier 1 he’s going to have to let the race unfold in front of him and then Jarrad Noske will slowly but surely work his way to the outside of runners. Massive task to win the 2023 Broome Cup but he did carry 64kg to victory in the Kimberley Cup and was only running away from them on the post. Extra 200m even better for him. Something to behold if he gets the job done. ROGUE’S POINT was an alarming drifter in the Kimberley Cup. He was $1.80 out to $4.40 (on the exchange) and never went a yard. Can he bounce back? HEZAZEB brings alternate form through booming victories in the Roebourne and Port Hedland Cups. OMBUDSMAN looks to be timing his run well. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRUE ATTRACTION WIN RACE 7 HERE NO CASH scratched from a 5 horse race on Tuesday to save for this and he should be able to enjoy a soft run tracking into the race behind speed trio Toppa The Mountain (who he beat home last start), Wuhan Warrior (who is possibly suspect at 1200 and has 63kg) and Amelia’s Belief (who has 61.5kg and is drawn outside Toppa The Mountain and Wuhan Warrior). Looks a great map. TOPPA THE MOUNTAIN has turned a corner. WUHAN WARRIOR has had a great season and drops back in grade. AMELIA’S BELIEF has been running time at Roebourne and Port Hedland. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – HERE NO CASH WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) FD 2,4,6 1,4,5 1,2,3,4 Market Market
