Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on May 21, 2021May 21, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MAROCCHINO looks destined to record a fifth straight victory. Winner of the Albany Cup, Diggers Cup and Eurythmic Stakes at his last three and this race looks even thinner than those features. Should amble up to them under a hold and record another win. MACKENZIE BROOKE has 3L to turn around from last start but looks the obvious danger (if there is one). BELLA’S IDOL hasn’t been seen since the Geraldton Cup. Recent 1450m fitness trial was solid. SAUCY JACK leads them up and rolls at some stage. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAROCCHINO WIN RACE 2 FLYING MISSILE is looking to win three in a line. Her win two starts ago at 1000m was dominant, over Ultimate Command (subsequent 2nd), Astrape (subsequent 3rd) and Ain’t No Other Man (subsequent winner). Stepped out to 1100m last time out, conceded those rivals weight and beat them again. Looks a great opportunity for her to finish the preparation a winner. DANCE SESSION should lead for a long way. She’s extremely quick. VRANYO looked very sharp in the recent 1000m trial at Belmont when winning by over 4L. Shades on, keep safe. BOPPING BLUE gets the right run and looks to have a motor. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – FLYING MISSILE WIN RACE 3 BORN TO TRY was 2 months between runs dropping from a 2000m staying event to 1400m at Ascot. Settled last on a day where the majority of winners sat right over the top of the speed and was one of the few horses to make any impression down the centre of the track. Better suited at 1600m and draw a gate to get every chance. LORD LONSDALE teams up with a well noted front running rider. Can lead and give some real cheek. STREET FAIR finally broke through last start. Hard horse to trust but has always promised to win Saturday races. FRIAR’S FANTASIA has always been highly competitive in this grade. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – BORN TO TRY WIN RACE 4 TRI FOR US looks a talented and emerging filly going places. Won a maiden, won a C3 and then was narrowly defeated by a genuine Saturday 3 year old in Bragwell when cutting back inside horses after being steadied turning for home. Drawn ideally, races close handy, versatile and sneaks in on the minimum. Well placed and hard to toss. SLUICE BOX has been putting in black book run after black book run this preparation. Definitely ready to win. ARAGAIN drops a stack of weight here and went through the grades at the back end of the Belmont season last preparation. KIA ORA STAR is always there abouts in this grade. Numbers: 13 – 7 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRI FOR US WIN RACE 5 BRIGHT DIAMOND is a lightly raced mare with an imposing winning strike rate. Only tasted defeat once in her life at the hands of Mood Swings in a quality 3yo 62+ . Has had a fair while away from the races but tuned up for her return with two 1000m trials. The first she was doing her best work late, the second she was ridden out by Kyra Yuill and let down powerfully. She’ll be launching at them late. PULI is a talented front runner. Kept fresh by Darren Taylor and is a proven weight carrier. Leads for a long way. UNIVERSAL PLEASURE won four in a line at the end of last campaign. Clearly talented and will hold an advantage over Bright Diamond in running. ENDURING MOMENT trialled like a horse who is ready to go through the grades. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – BRIGHT DIAMOND WIN RACE 6 KALLAROO looks ready to peak third up into the preparation in a race which would have been on the calendar for him all campaign. First-up got run off his legs over 1200m when hitting the line well under 60kg. Second-up he found himself in an awkward position in running and was attacking the line (through traffic) behind She’s God To You and subsequent winners Divine Pair and Bragwell. Back to Belmont, back to senior rider, drawn a gate and goes round double figures. REAL GRACE looks the real deal. She’s drawn awkwardly and likely gets a fair way back in the run but her turn of foot is undeniably impressive. TIMELY OUTBURST steps out to an unknown trip for the first time but has done nothing wrong in her life. SHE’S GOD TO YOU likely comes across and if she finds the breeze she can win again. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – KALLAROO EACHWAY RACE 7 BILLY AIN’T SILLY is a lovely progressive 3 year old who is easy to follow. Dominated moderate opposition in a C1, ran them ragged in a 3 year old 62+, beat the older horses in a fighting 60+ win and then was nailed in the shadows of the post last start in a 72+. Had to work in the first furlong to cross from gate 7 last start, should get to the top comfortably here. Gets in below the minimum after the claim, drops back to a 66+ and gets another great chance to win. TINSNIP hasn’t been able to beat him in their two encounters to date but also hasn’t had Pike in either. CREATOR was disappointing last start but his previous efforts were very encouraging. MRS BROWN’S BOY is dangerous off the 7 days. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – BILLY AIN’T SILLY WIN RACE 8 TIFF HAS SPOKEN has finished in the money at 10 of his 17 outings and goes round eachway in a wide open final of the SkyracingTV Provincial Championship Final. Resumed first-up no trial with 59kg in a race where they broke the track record at Northam and did it tough throughout when tramping deep. If he gets clear air he’s more than capable of bursting through to win this. ZACKARIAH BEAU has been set for this race from the start and has returned to racing in career best form. SUPER EX is a query at the trip but maps ideally. LUCKY LINDA LULU might sneak a start and if she does, she’s the kind of mare who can cause the upset. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 17 Suggested Bet – TIFF HAS SPOKEN EACHWAY RACE 9 MAGNIFORCE brings alternate form to town. Simply thrives in Kalgoorlie but thinking that he can measure up in this 66+. Drawn perfectly in gate 6, can lead, can sit and can do it at both ends as he showed last start when sitting right over the top of a frenetic speed set by subsequent winner Wiener Waltz when lumping 60kg. Goes round double figures and can definitely give some cheek. ANGELIC MISS is drawn another tough gate for Chris Parnham to navigate. If he can keep her out of trouble and start to descend on the leaders as they balance for home she’ll take beating. CHANTORQUE looks better suited here against the older horses with some weight relief. SKINNEN TINS is an underrated mare. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – MAGNIFORCE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3,5,6,8,11 4,9 2,3,5,7,12,13,(17) 2,4,5,8,9,11 Market Market
