Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on September 6, 2018September 11, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 BATTLE STORM will be the talk of the race track. His trial was very impressive when held up behind horses in a slowly run affair and picking up the tiring leaders in one bound. GESSATO looks the logical and only real danger. Should Bonnie Palise find the spot outside the lead he’ll be the testing material. NEUTRON DANCE has shown absolutely nothing at the races but gets a dry track and the chance to lead them up. HITCHIKER was an impressive trial in good time and should get a soft run throughout. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – BATTLE STORM WIN Race 2 PRYING TOM has gone to another level this preparation. He was idling behind a very slow tempo last start and his turn of foot was simply superior to rivals. Should again sit midfield and be too strong and announce himself as a nominal favourite for the Kal Cup. KENSINGTON ABBEY could be the danger. Lucy should roll straight to the top and we all know Arthur Mortimer gallopers are fit and tough. STATE PROSECUTOR was poor last start when he was hard ridden to keep up. Likely settles last again. DARK MUSKET needs this trip to show his best. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRYING TOM WIN Race 3 NICKLAUS was scratched as favourite on Wednesday to be saved for this. Could prove an astute decision because he should fire straight to the top in a race lacking any speed. Glenn Smith controls from the front. PAGAN IMAGE was big last start, tramping wide throughout. Nice type. TRUE DEFENDER beat moderate opposition at his return to the races. Will be looking for this trip and beyond. COCKNEY CREW likely sits leaders back and enjoys a soft run. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – NICKLAUS PLACE Race 4 ROCKON TOMMY steps up to 1400m which looks to be much more up his alley. The Crystal Spirit form could prove to be extremely strong and in this field it is likely he finds the fence and leads them up. ELECTRIC LIGHT was super impressive last weekend when gunning down tear away leader Man Time. Hard to beat again. COUNT TOMOZ OFF is a query at the trip but lobs straight in to the box seat. GREY ENIGMA is a two time winner of 7 days and was never in the mix last weekend. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – ROCKON TOMMY EACHWAY Race 5 NICCATRICE has never really been known as a 1000m horse or a speed horse but his last two trials have been nothing short of excellent. In a very even race he can definitely figure in the finish at an eachway quote. IMPERIAL VENUS beat better types than this two starts ago. If he can track up three deep he’ll be swooping late. THUNDERSTRUT is fresh 49 days between runs and has noted front running hoop Tayla Stone engaged. There is not a lot of top end speed in this race and if she finds the front should go close. TWISTED MOUNTAIN is certainly not the worst first-up with no trial. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – NICCATRICE EACHWAY Race 6 PATAPUS has great form for a race of this nature. Running into the flying Dia De La Raza two starts ago before being brave on speed behind classy Kalgoorlie galloper Pym’s Royale who, while defeated, was crunched in betting last week. McGruddy likely lobs outside the lead and controls the speed. BOLD SUCCESS is in yet another extremely winnable race but seems to find ways to get rolled. PRESENTATIE hit the line hard on a leader dominated day at Kalgoorlie first-up. DISTANT TRILOGY has an X-factor about him. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – PATAPUS WIN Race 7 FAIR SONARI was nothing short of brave last start tramping three deep the trip without cover in a race where they ran well above average time in front. To battle on as well as he did was impressive. Stone can find the front here. BATTLE TORQUE is reunited with Pike and this field is a lot easier than what he met last start. He is flying and will be charging late. LUKE’S GOLD won well last start when the shades went on but was no match for Battle Torque when they last met. ASTONOMITE could be the improver with another jockey change. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – FAIR SONARI WIN Race 8 CRYSTAL SPIRIT has been yet another Gangemi revelation since arriving. He raced 3 points outside the handicap last start and I played around him. Wrong. I can now see why he went straight into a 72+. He is special. Not making that mistake again, he wins. BIG CAROLINE continues to savage the line and she goes lengths better for Pike than anyone else. PINSSON and HELMS GATE are both always around the mark and there is nothing between them in quality. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – CRYSTAL SPIRIT WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,5,7,10 3,4 1,7 4 Market Market
