Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 24, 2018August 27, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 MISS MANDY has a horror draw to contend with but has put together two very impressive runs so far this campaign and ran into two of the most progressive and exciting types we’ve seen, albeit Mr Genoa is Victoria bound. Gets cover and is a big chance. PATRISTIC has trialed very impressively at Belmont Park on two separate occasions. Forget that he has even been to the races. GESSATO looks a nice type in the making and should roll forwards. OUR MATE BOOTS can give cheek if finding the front. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – MISS MANDY WIN Race 2 RED ARMY is going from strength to strength as a stayer but this is his toughest test of the campaign and he looks to be at his most vulnerable. Back him with caution because he settles last and will be under the odds. PRYING TOM beat him home two starts ago and gets a 1kg weight advantage for that victory. Going great guns. AT THE READY likely settles in front both of them and you can’t fault any of his runs. WOODSVILLE is the obvious leader and will take some catching if Autier walks and then goes for home at the corner. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – RED ARMY WIN Race 3 IT’S GOT IT ALL looks to lead this race and there doesn’t appear to be much pressure for a 1000m dash. That leaves Jason Brown dictating terms in front and he knows the horse. Leads, kicks on the corner and paddles late. MANTIME has been labeled a non-winner but his effort last start was strong and he maps to sit outside the leader and get first crack at him. FIRE MAKER was never a winning chance in the same race last start when dragged to last. Sits a lot closer here. VELAGO is only a York maiden winner but he is a type. Very raw and green, watch him this preparation. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – IT’S GOT IT ALL WIN Race 4 DAISHIO is drawn awkwardly and will need luck. Looks like a filly who will improve with racing. This is a very evenly graded bunch and there are many winning hopes. CLASSIC PRO is a maiden but has run some belting races in her short career. DOUBLE BUBBLE is two from two undefeated but this is by far the strongest field she has ever met. EBONY MAGI made a long sustained run at them on debut and gets it softer here. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – DAISHIO EACHWAY Race 5 RUSSIAN RIVER will be well into the double figure odds and in a race devoid of natural speed and a leader he may find himself there by default. Usually improves lengths second-up and his form is consistent and strong enough to give this a shake. SEASIDE SERENADE is a nice mare who has strictly won 4 from 11 starts. No weight, soft gate, right in it. REYKJAVIK and BOLD SUCCESS are sure to take up a large percentage of the market but neither really know how to win. Reykjavik beaten under $4 on five occasions and Bold Success nine. Brave punters jumping into either. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – RUSSIAN RIVER EACHWAY Race 6 HELMS GATE has raced 28 days between runs at his last three starts and that seems to be the key to him. Maps to sit just behind a very strong tempo and Patrick Carbery looks the perfect engagement to sit and unleash. FLYING TIME back to a 72+ after the claim of gun apprentice Tayla Stone is very well placed. Sits in the breeze and pours the pressure on. SETTLERS CREEK was uncharacteristically good first-up and then put in his usual second-up performance. Drawn soft, back to 1200m, watch. PINSSON is going great guns but hard to see where he settles. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – HELMS GATE EACHWAY Race 7 PRIZE CATCH won well last start and there is no reason why he can’t break into this company and beyond. Maps midfield with cover and Glenn Smith on another positive. Raced same day, same track and same distance as Atlanta Blue and went 1.5 seconds quicker. ATLANTA BLUE should sit right behind the speed and gets every possible chance. FONTAINEBLEAU is drawn awkwardly and in a race without a leader may roll forwards. BATTLE TORQUE is going brilliantly and this race is definitely winnable. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – PRIZE CATCH EACHWAY Race 8 NO SAY IN IT has wonderful staying form alongside flying pair Red Army and Prying Tom. Fresh a month between runs, back to a mile and drawn to box seat. POINT is going far better than it reads on paper. If he can settle closer from the gate then he is the blowout. LUKE’S GOLD has blinkers on for the first time in his career and drops in grade. MIDNIGHT SKY was enormous last start weaving a passage but looks likely to settle last again and needs luck. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – NO SAY IN IT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,8,9,10,11 1,4,6,7 5,6,8,9,11 3,4,5,8,10 Market Market
