Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 21, 2025August 21, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CASTLE ROAD was simply too quick and too classy for them at Pinjarra down the 1000m straight first-up. He lumped 61kg, won by nearly 1L and smashed the clock (5L faster than average). Desert Life was annihilated in late betting Wednesday through that race and got the job done and while 1200m may stretch him he’s down to 58.5kg after the Chanel Cooper claim. Looks her first Saturday winner. COUNTRY GOD is on the 7 day spin after being nailed in the shadows by My Authoritah. Back in trip, blinkers on and stalks the speed. TWO TIME CHARLIE (Lachie) has looked good at trials. HASANI won’t be a maiden long. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – CASTLE ROAD WIN RACE 2 GINGER MORPHEUS couldn’t quite carry the 60kg over 1100m first-up but made amends second-up this track/distance with a strong win over subsequent winner Niccimota. He drops 2kg, he bounces out to put himself right over the speed and this looks a great stepping stone for him into Saturday grade. HIT THE JACKPOT is a sharp sprinter for this grade and can’t be discounted. Victoria Corver can have him parked up outside Silver Livia and attack on straightening. Same set up as the fresh win. SILVER LIVIA was scratched Wednesday to save for this. PADDY’S FLYIN’ is a Belmont 1000m horse. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – GINGER MORPHEUS WIN RACE 3 EMPRESS OF INDIA just continues to run honest races at an eachway price. She’ll be tucked away tracking into it along the fence following a strong tempo and cutting the corner will allow her to pinch a couple of lengths on key rival Under Influence on straightening. Happy to follow the Madhi Girl form. UNDER INFLUENCE got to the line better than Empress Of India last start in the Madhi Girl form race, however, he’s a natural get-back-sprinter, and those types have not been winning many races at the Belmont 1000. EARTH GOD is high speed and now has shades. THIS’LL SHOW YA is also high speed and now has only 51.5kg. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – EMPRESS OF INDIA EACHWAY RACE 4 YORGA PRIDE is brilliantly placed by Team Williams. She trialled up super at Lark Hill on a Soft7 and then gobbled up Snow God in a 3 year old 62+ first-up with 57kg. After the claim for the stable apprentice she’s dropping in grade and dropping half a kilo second-up. Provided she finds a back to follow expect she’ll be making it 5 from 6. REPEATER has gone from C1 to C3 to Westspeed Platinum in three runs this preparation and is clearly thriving on the rain affected tracks. This is his acid test. COUNTESS OF KENNA scratched from Pinjarra to wait for this more suitable map. Good call. PLAYING AROUND may need a touch further to show his best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – YORGA PRIDE WIN RACE 5 TRIPLE THE CHANT has come back bigger and better this preparation. Her maiden win was dominant and then she progressed to a C1 1650 and was winning from the 1000m marker. She travelled boldly in running and then when Joey Azzopardi pulled her to the outside she let rip with a sharp change up speed. Will need to improve again to be running down a talented leader like Rock In Wonder but 55.5 helps her cause. ROCK IN WONDER never gave them a chance last start at Pinjarra and took full advantage of the on speed dominance of the meeting. I DREAMED A DREAM ran a 66+ placing last start, nicely placed back into a Grad. MORE THAN ENUFF goes best kept fresh. Numbers: 12 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRIPLE THE CHANT WIN RACE 6 COOL MEMORY won a 72+ 1200m first-up and then two starts later went to the line locked together with Sunny Hony in a 72+ 1400. He’s back in grade, he’s back to Belmont (finished in the money at 7/10) and finds a race where he can roll to the top. Had genuine excuses last start and goes around eachway. TERRATIF was a big winner fresh and then a hard watch second-up. She’s got a big L600 and drops from 59kg down to 52.5kg which looks a luxury for her. Big book for Chanel Cooper Saturday. SOLDANELLE was a ‘be on me next start’ run first-up but has now missed a run and goes into this 28 days between outings from a tricky barrier. TWILIGHT TALE can work her way through the grades this prep. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – COOL MEMORY EACHWAY RACE 7 PHANTA was back to his best in the Newmarket and is one of the best suited gallopers in the field at WFA. He’ll kick through to lead from barrier 1 and he’ll get them rolling from the 600. No Puli only helps his cause and Belmont has been the home to 6 of his 8 career wins. A lot in his favour. ZIPAWAY is on a one start hit and run mission before being targeted up at the Group One races over the Summer Carnival. His first-up 1400m WFA run last prep in the Lee Steere Stakes saw him shorten into All-In Railway favourite at one stage. Can win. WIND AND THE LION beat the older horses last start in the H.G Bolton on the 54kg min. This is a lot harder. FLURO NEURO just continues to raise the bar. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – PHANTA WIN Same Race Multi – Phanta (Top 2) + Zipaway (Top 4) Phanta won the Belmont Newmarket (at Pinjarra) and meets the majority of those rivals 5kg better at the weights heading into this WFA feature. He’ll jump straight to the front and prove hard to run down. Zipaway is an extremely talented horse and if he finds a back to follow will be charging home late. T2 + T4. RACE 8 WANT A WINNER vs SHMOOV MOOVA with more than just cameos from SUPERSESSION, KING ADVISO and KEEP ATTACKING – this is a ripper. WANT A WINNER is now 4 wins from 5 starts and alongside his dynamite 1000m win at Ascot last start was a career best from him. He can allow King Adviso to go, track up his every move and be the first horse to attack him on straightening. SHMOOV MOOVA had his colours lowered first-up at Pinjarra and never looked comfortable at any stage in running. Wants (needs) a drying surface. KING ADVISO has gone to a new level this prep – didn’t put the braves on last start? SUPERSESSION sits three back the fence and bursts through late. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – WANT A WINNER WIN Market Market
