Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 9, 2018August 14, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SCANDALOUS MISS should really be breaking her maiden in a very weak assignment. Drawn to punch the breeze, possible even three deep outside the speed but too strong. ADMIRAL HUSSON looked to be going well in his trial before the leader threw Randy Tan and almost knocked him over. CLAPPA THUNDER is a 54 start maiden but can give some cheek fresh out in front. ILLMATIC is a nice type but not huge on horses off 400m jump outs. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SCANDALOUS MISS WIN Race 2 KISS THE BREEZE was well supported at her third start this preparation when held up at crucial stages and then was luckless taking on the older horses. Better suited against 3 year olds and ridden cold. REBEL KNIGHT looks the obvious in a wide open race. Races on speed, gets through the wet going and has the dynamite Samizdat form. CLASSIC PRO has been charging through the line and Lucy Warwick could be a key engagement. Wins one soon. SNOWCHINO toyed with moderate opposition at Northam and can measure up. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – KISS THE BREEZE WIN Race 3 STATE PROSECUTOR was a tough watch for anyone who thought he could roll classy 3 year old Come Play With Me in the Belmont Classic. He is his own worst enemy and there is again zero tempo here but if he can somehow settle could be special. RED ARMY was handed the race on a silver platter last start. Sat behind the two leaders who were in neutral and zapped them. Similar race this. THE CRUEL SEA rolls straight to the top. AT THE READY is up against it in a sit, sprint. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – STATE PROSECUTOR WIN Race 4 ONE SHORT has been a model of consistency all preparation and gets his chance to win another Saturday race. Looks like he can roll to the front if he wishes otherwise positions up outside the lead and will be hard to run down. BATTLE TORQUE is flying and regardless of the draw likely settles last. TOUCH OF SILVER was nearly a good thing beat two starts ago. Huge concern is he looked to be spinning the wheels in the soft going last start. ASTRONOMITE is going well and O’Donnell on first-up is worth following. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ONE SHORT WIN Race 5 MANTIME was four deep then eased to three wide with cover before making another run at them last start. Never on the track. Now draws a gate, blinkers on and senior rider on. Could be a sharp improver. DEEP COVER kept coming last start and down in weight and drawn the fence can be in the finish. DIA DE LA RAZA looked like he won last start everywhere but the photo finish. He should lead them up again and go close. PATAPUS was excellent at her return down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – MANTIME EACHWAY Race 6 GANGBUSTER has not won a race for a long time, however, most of these are in the same category. His return run was full of merit and with fitness improvement can give a sight at odds. BOLD SUCCESS looks the one on paper, but has only one race in her career and gone under eight times when trading under $4. STREET FURY looks like she can lead softly if they want to be there. Improved run last start. NASHVILLE CAT hasn’t run a bad race this preparation and goes well in the soft. Numbers: 8 – 12 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – GANGBUSTER EACHWAY Race 7 MINUS LOOKS looked like he had finally found his race last start and it was there to win. He maps perfectly here so we will give him one last chance. KENSINGTON ABBEY has run some enormous races this preparation which the paper form simply doesn’t show. Back in grade, senior rider on and a mile back to 1400. Definitely worth an eachway ticket. GRECO leads and gives a great sight in front. POINT was a handy return to the races. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – MINUS LOOKS WIN Race 8 ATLANTA BLUE was huge in defeat last start, gets a 2kg weight swing on the main danger and drawn to perfection. Can lead them up or take a sit and stalk the leader. ABDICATOR looks drawn awkwardly on paper but should be able to slide across and at worst sit outside the lead. He is flying and back to 1400m a big plus. DARK MUSKET should go round a big price and can run a race fresh. FRIARESQUE continues to run quality races without threatening to actually win. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 6 – 12 Suggested Bet – ATLANTA BLUE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 5,6,7,8,10,11 5,8,9,10,12 2,7,11 5,10 Market Market
