Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 2, 2018August 7, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 POLITE PASS was a month between runs and 1300m up to a mile when showing a nice turn of foot and just peaking on the run to be beaten late. Second crack a mile and drawn soft, should be too good. TORTINA is going extremely well for an 18 start maiden. Three huge efforts in a row at a staying trip. SAN CRISPINO will be notching her maiden victory soon, awkwardly drawn but has shown she can settle on speed or off speed. LET ME PASS leads them up and gives cheek. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – POLITE PASS WIN Race 2 THE CELT has gone to another level since joining the stables of Anne King. Drawn to sit right on top of a slow tempo and trialed well on Monday. Even with the big weight should prove hard to roll. ONE SHORT may bounce straight to the top and control the speed. Was every bit as good as The Celt when they met previously. GET OVER IT is a quality animal returning but likely settles last. DIABLERIE has had no luck all campaign and can improve. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – THE CELT EACHWAY Race 3 FREO was over a month between runs at a mile on a soft7 last start and loomed as the winner. Looks a progressive type who should be too strong down the outside for a moderate lot. KELLY’S GEM looked gone at the 800m last start and takes a while to be wound up and will be coming late. IRISH MOSHE was no better than four deep the trip last start and should enjoy a soft run from the gate. Does get through the going. FAIR SONARI should find this a lot easier than open 3 year old company and the step up in trip suits. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – FREO WIN Race 4 FLYING TIME is in career best form and with all the rain around it only enhances his chances of winning another race before retirement. Likely positions outside the leader and will be pouring the pressure on. SUPER MAXI is that likely leader and his effort in defeat behind the talented Ambiente was strong. Is a heavy track winner so no worries with the conditions. CAIPIRINHA is the best horse in this race but the map is ugly for her. YEAH DARDY is racing well outside the handicap and risks in the vicinity of 15 points should he win, first-up run showed he will plenty more races. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – FLYING TIME WIN Race 5 EPIC GREY should park three deep over the top of the speed and simply attempt to monster rivals. He is a serious race horse and Monday’s trial could not have been more impressive. FIRE AND RAIN is perfectly placed to utilize the 3kg allowance for 3 year olds in August. Leads and drops massively in weight. BLACK DYNMAITE has been out of form for a long while but his trial for a new stable caught the eye. I AM INCREDIBLE is consistent and lobs straight into box seat. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – EPIC GREY WIN Race 6 CRYSTAL SPIRIT makes his WA debut with only just over a month between runs. Never a huge fan of horses travelling mid-preparation but is at the right stable to get the job done in the most evenly graded race of the day. GLIMMER GIRL was well thought of last week before being scratched. Blinkers on, Pike on. RUSSIAN RIVER is never far away from the action and should get a soft run. WILD FRONT only won a weak maiden but won with ease in reasonably good time. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – CRYSTAL SPIRIT WIN Race 7 PADDY’S SHADOW tramped three deep without cover the entire trip in the Belmont Classic. O’Donnell on first time big tick, he rode 7 first sit winners in the month of July alone. SEE ME SIZZLE is a query at the trip, only raced beyond a mile once in his career to but reunites with Glenn Smith, backs up off 7 days and should find the front and control. GRAND CADEAU did a lot of work last start and gets a far softer run. PRYING TOM is in form and can easily make it two on the bounce. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – PADDY’S SHADOW EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,6 1,7 1,3,4,5,6,8,12 2,3,6,9,11 Market Market
