Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 28, 2021January 31, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SICHERN hit the line powerfully on debut in an impressive display. The overall race time certainly wasn’t flash (5L slower than average) so in theory he is likely to be fairly easy in the market. Meets a field where many have had their chance and have convictions. Gets his chance. MOLLY MAGEE runs around and does a lot wrong. Gary Crispin swaps the one sided winker for a one sided blinker in an attempt to get her to go straight. MR KYTE resumes and ran some reasonable races when finishing midfield in previous campaigns. Brings alternate form to the majority. BELAFONTE BOY is suited over further but does chase hard. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SICHERN WIN RACE 2 AMELIA’S CHANT was plunged on debut and everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Strong winds had most of the youngsters flighty behind the gates, then they were loaded in and had to stand in the sun for a prolonged period of time. Had genuine excuses in the post-race and did look to pull herself into the ground. Willing to forgive and follow up. TALKABOUTYOU was a drifting second favourite in the same race before getting loose and being withdrawn. Likely to come out running. MY DILEMMA has shown glimpses at trials and gets in with a feather weight. GREEN AND SHADY went within a nose of victory on debut and ran straight past Amelia’s Chant. Awkward draw. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S CHANT WIN RACE 3 KISSONALLFORCHEEKS may be at a glorified barrier trial in preparation for her flight to Melbourne next week but at the set weights and penalties conditions she is every chance of picking up $41,000 in her trial. She is the winner of 4 from 8 including the Listed Lee Steere Stakes and a narrow defeat in the Burgess Queen. Simply thrown in at the weights. DEVINE BEAST is racing out of her weight division and acquitting herself brilliantly. Come back to racing in career best form but runs into another smart filly. ALL DAY SESSION is going well and should land in a better position than recent starts. IN THE BOAT is the spruik horse. Got things all his own way on debut. Won’t get those conditions here. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – KISSONALLFORCHEEKS WIN RACE 4 LAST OF THE LINE is starting to furnish into a proper horse. Lightly raced, highly progressive and still going through his grades. Both trainer and jockey are public in their high opinion of this horse and the punters who plunged him $3.70 into $1.90 last start are likely to butter up again and hold their seat on the bandwagon. Should get a soft run one out, one back and likely has his main danger on his inside. RED PUBLISHER arguably should have gone very close last week in the Australia Day Trophy when looking to have a bit in the tank when held up at a crucial stage. Backs up off 7 days, drops in grade and gains the services of W.Pike. Old red can win his 11th race at start 109. PHONEME was no match for Last of the Line a fortnight ago. 2kg brings him closer. CRYPTIC LOVE was a shock result last start but the form has really held up behind her. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – LAST OF THE LINE WIN RACE 5 RECAPITULATE and EURASIA bring country form to the metro area. RECAPITULATE has won three of his last five, including races at Kalgoorlie, Albany and Esperance. Naturally there is a big query on the quality of that form, but he gets a rare chance in town to roll straight to the top, control the tempo and then kick into the corner. Luxurious 3kg claim for Laqdar Ramoly makes him a legitimate winning chance. EURASIA beat him home at Albany last start and from the inside draw looms as the big danger. Always looked a Saturday horse in the making. SEMINOLE BRAVE will need a 10/10 from a horror draw but is building nicely. WHAT ABOUT MOI won well last start but does rise sharply in grade out of a maiden run 5L slower than average. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 13 Suggested Bet – RECAPITULATE EACHWAY RACE 6 MOOD SWINGS was drawn in the carpark last start and had to do much more work in the early stages than anticipated on paper. Burnt a lot of fuel to get across and breeze outside Excellent Dream and was found wanting late but also got run up the track if you watch the head on vision. From the draw can enjoy a lovely sit in behind them with speed coming across in the form of Excellent Dream, Agent Jay and Weaponson. Gets his chance to turn the tables. PRINCE DEVOUTLY ended up in a horror position in running at his return to racing. Reeled off a 33.38 final 600m to suggest he is well and truly back. STAR GLITTER is going super and always sneaks under the radar. Looks to be peaking early in the preparation and was a massive effort against the pattern last start. EXCELLENT DREAM won well last start and is still improving. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – MOOD SWINGS WIN RACE 7 CAROCAPO is a model of consistency and now gets out to his pet distance of 1200m. Ran very well when third to Indian Pacific in the Summer Scorcher over an unsuitable 1000m, got into a few bumping duals in the Miss Andretti and was brave to fight on for second and now getting out to 1200m can work forward to sit outside Mervyn and turn it into a test of strength. Best chance yet to win a Listed race. FLIRTINI will be sitting back last and smoking the pipe. 60.5kg and an Easterly breeze are a pair of levellers but she was simply outstanding last start. ESSENTIAL SPICE is not a 1200m mare but she is in tremendous form and gets it soft on the fence. SAMIZDAT was a writing on the wall job last start. Great to see him back at his best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – CAROCAPO EACHWAY RACE 8 AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE was excellent last start. Drew awkwardly and looked like she would have to snag back in the run. Savaged the line in a real ‘back me next start’ type of effort after searching for a run into the last 100. Draws the inside gate here which is always a touch sticky to navigate over the short course but if Paul Harvey can keep her in a rhythm and out of trouble, she’ll be climbing out of the ground late. LIPSTICK FLICKERS has the dreaded bar plates on. Her first-up run was excellent but that is a big red flag. TIME TO SIZZLE has already returned 216x her purchase price ($500) and taken connections on a brilliant ride. No reason why she can’t win again. NOBELIUM is deep into the campaign but racing brilliantly. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,5,7,13 1,2,5,7,8,9 1,3 2,3,4,5,7,12 Market Market
