Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 17, 2020December 17, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WILCHINO hasn’t been seen at the races for 471 days which is always a bit of a concern but her recent trial was ultra-impressive, her race form is super and she should have enough speed early to find the fence underneath Petite La Femme and cross main (only) danger Universal Pleasure. From there she is the one to beat. UNIVERSAL PLEASURE promised to win a race all campaign and looks poised to break through early in this preparation. Talented mare but might run into one out of the box here. PETITE LA FEMME is tiny but speedy. Can go well fresh. MIDNIGHT HOUR was an intriguing trial, likely to get caught deep but worth following. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – WILCHINO WIN RACE 2 POLICIERE sat three deep the trip on debut when never getting in at any stage and still had the audacity to make a run at them turning for home. Did a super job to get within 1.9L of Ultimate Command and Flying Missile who had rails runs (leader/leader’s back) and now with the appointment of William Pike and the barrier draw she gets her chance to turn the tables. ULTIAMTE COMMAND has to lump an extra 2kg but has the benefit of experience and should cross down to the fence a lot quicker and easier than on debut. FLYING MISSILE was stiff not to win last start when impeded for clear running for the majority of the straight. GROUND BRAKER was the sectional run of the race and looks a promising youngster. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – POLICIERE WIN RACE 3 MADAM TORIO is a jump and run 1000m filly. She draws gate 1, leaves the machine clean and quick and should have no trouble kicking through to lead. From there Chris Parnham will let her do her thing and on exposed form and ratings they’ll struggle to catch her. She can do it at both ends and if she runs them around in 57.89 like her last start then it should be over. ALL DAY SESSION has had an unorthodox preparation but continues to race well. Comes back to the short course and did belt older opponents with 61kg only a month ago. KEEP YOUR FEET followed them round at trials. Race form is strong but the gate is awkward. PRECAUTIONARY next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MADAM TORIO WIN RACE 4 SOLAIA is exceptionally well placed by the astute Darren McAuliffe yard. Fourth in the Burgess Queen behind Snickerdoodledandy, Kissonallforcheeks and Magical Dream, fourth in the Champion Fillies behind Watch Me Dance, off the track throughout in the WA Guineas three and four deep, last start second in the Lee Steere splitting Kissonallforcheeks and Western Empire. Gets in with a luxurious 54.kg as a 3 year old taking on the older horses and provided she gets across to the breeze she’s hard to beat. OUR IDYLL, TRADENSIA and ABERDEEN QUEEN all come from the same high rating edition of the Grandstand Cup at Pinjarra. They were all excellent runs for different reasons. Not much between them. Numbers: 12 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SOLAIA WIN RACE 5 TRULY GREAT looks to hold a mortgage over the 2020 Ted Van Heemst Stakes. Destroyed top notch opposition in the Kingston Town Classic, including Group 1 mare Inspirational Girl, when letting loose at the top of the straight for a barnstorming win at 1800m at Weight For Age. Looks even better suited at 2100m and may be the last time we see him in WA. TRAP FOR FOOLS might also be the last time we see him in WA with the stable and connections floating the idea of retirement for the WA Champ. Rated to perfection by Brad Rawiller last weekend with 62kg and should again get his way out in front. Logical (and only) danger. TAXAGANO was a model of consistency once he hit these staying distances when last in work. PLATOON is a huge query at the trip but was eye catching late in the Kingston Town. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – TRULY GREAT WIN RACE 6 EM TEE AYE is a 3 year old taking on the older horses at 2200m so he gets an allowance of 3kg, Trevor Andrews then engages the services of Laqdar Ramoly who claims another 3kg. Gets in with 6kg less than his handicap rating, backs up off 7 days, settles right over the top of the speed and will likely go around at an eachway quote. Looks an emerging stayer. MIDNIGHT BLUE will be the target of the majority of support and punters eyes. 60.5kg and barrier 11 are both levellers but William Pike always finds a way. With any even luck he’ll be awfully hard to hold out. ADORNMENT is back to her best and is going super. TRUE ATTRACTION looks to be screaming out for this trip. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – EM TEE AYE EACHWAY RACE 7 CHANTREA was super first-up at 1400m when flashing up along the fence to snatch third in a blanket finish. That was a very slowly run edition of the Jungle Dawn, 6.5L slower than average, and from back in the field Chantrea did a super job to pick up and accelerate through the line. Far better suited at 1600m, more speed engaged and settles three back the fence from the draw. If she sees daylight she should pick them up. DANCE MUSIC has the runs on the board and is brilliantly suited at Set Weights and Penalties conditions. Comes out of a Weight For Age feature and this is a perfect race for her. SERENITY BAY simply doesn’t run bad races. Never missed the money in 13 and should be there abouts again. LONSDALE LADY is becoming frustrating. Fingers crossed she jumps. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHANTREA WIN RACE 8 MISS FROST copped 11 points winning the Jungle Mist and has to lump 60kg here but if Mitchell Pateman can give her 80% as good a ride as he gave her last start then she’s the one to beat in the inaugural Black Diamond. Super talented mare who is finally starting to get some consistency into her race career and is a proven weight carrier in the past. Should nearly sneak eachway which is a luxury for the best horse in the race. DEW WEST gets significant weight relief after carrying big imposts for the majority of her career. Can cross to lead and looks a big threat. SOLID AZZA gets huge weight on Miss Frost from their most recent encounter. Will need conditions to suit. CRYPTIC LOVE in a similar vein. She’ll likely be in the three and four deep train too. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 14 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS FROST EACHWAY RACE 9 RESORTMAN was beaten in a narrow photo last weekend by an impressive and brave Platinum Bullet. They have now quinellaed back-to-back high rating 66+ races and on the 7-day back-up, stepping to 1400m and drawn in the perfect gate he looks capable of rebounding. Should nearly lob one out and one back from the draw and travels like a proper horse. MEGAZONE beat him home at their last meeting and gets significant weight on him as well. Map is awkward but his first two runs this campaign have been phenomenal. DIG DEEP won’t get a better opportunity to break through. Opinions divided on his most recent effort. LUKE’S GOLD is racing brilliantly. Seems to prefer being three deep the trip. Numbers: 8 – 12 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – RESORTMAN WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,4,5,7 1,3 1,2,5,14 1,3,4,6,8,12 Market Market
