Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 15, 2018November 19, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SPECIALISM jumped, lead and bolted in on debut against a couple of handy two year olds. Likely leads or at worst sits outside the stablemate and grinds it into the ground. CAPTAIN DENISOV comes from two 400m jump outs and has looked sharp at both. Sits close handy. MIA DOLCE looks just like her mum and the small stocky filly was impressive on debut. JEVELATION is very green and raw, changed strides at least three times in Monday’s trial. Could wobble round the bend badly. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SPECIALISM WIN Race 2 RAGAZZO D’ORO was bitterly disappointing last start after running an eye catcher the start before. Was well supported and going to give him another go here. Drawn a soft gate and a change of rider could see him stride forward. ARCADIA PRINCE got too far out of his ground last start and was unable to reel in the red hot Jeraft. Should be within striking distance here. MIDDLE EARTH was a really nice 950m trial without blinkers and likely opens a big price. BROKER has trialed well twice for his return and should get a cozy run midfield. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – RAGAZZO D’ORO EACHWAY Race 3 M’LADY either leads or box seats from gate 1 and the 1100m looks a perfect distance for her. Should be given every chance and is hard to run down late. PINBALL WIZARD has a noted front running ‘senior’ apprentice engaged and is going well enough to win. KAAPANDER made good ground first-up and is drawn to sit closer to the leaders. TRULY BELONG was stretched out to a staying trip last preparation but some of her 1000m form is excellent, can’t be discounted. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – M’LADY WIN Race 4 ARCADIA QUEEN was nothing short of sensational in defeat in the Burgess Queen. If you’re taking the odds on quote then you’re brave because you’ll be conceding the equal favourite a head start. LADY COSMOLOGY dominated from the front and won well in the Burgess Queen. No reason why she couldn’t do the same here and then give the males a run for their money next weekend. FLIRTINI looks destined to run another quality second or third. LEADING GIRL rounds out a popular first four. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ARCADIA QUEEN WIN Race 5 DAINTY TESS is unstoppable at the minute and there is no reason on paper why she wouldn’t go back, get to the outside and zap them again on her way towards the Winterbottom where she is arguably WA’s best hope. DURENDAL gets 3.5kg on her from last start and that is significant weight. This is one of his best chances at breaking through since coming to WA. LOCKROY is one of the best looking horses in the state at the minute and racing accordingly. BELTER leads and gives cheek if he gets it relatively soft. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – DAINTY TESS WIN Race 6 SPILLINOVA was huge first-up storming down the outside late from well off them. This race is far more suitable and instead of settling 11th of 12 he will lead them here. Very hard to chase down. FINGERMARK was scratched from a winnable race Thursday to save for this. He is going better than two runs htis preparation look on paper. JUST LIKE FIRE will settle off them and come with a big run late. MULGA trialed well for his return and is a 66+ winner and a previous fresh winner lumping a big weight. Numbers: 3 – 14 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SPILLINOVA WIN Race 7 ACTION is currently =64th in the order of entry for the Railway Stakes, however, at least 42 of those above him are not likely to be in the final acceptances. He could sneak in without winning this ballot exempt feature, however, it does look his race to lose. Was second to Galaxy Star in the Asian Beau and they cleared out from the rest. WRINKLY will be improved fitness wise for the outing and strings them out. NELSON’S FLIGHT is not as well credentialed as many others but gets the right run for him. GREAT AGAIN is drawn awkwardly and will be interesting to see if he goes forwards or not. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – ACTION WIN Race 8 DARK PROSPECT is the flag bearer for backing-up off 7 days. 4 of his 5 wins have been racing off the quick back up, he drops in trip, drops in grade and draws a gate. On paper, stands out. THE BIG SHOW looks like he will appreciate the hot tempo likely to be set by Beaucount. First horse to get a crack at the tiring leader. BEAUCOUNT is going great and will eventually pinch one when he breaks them open. AMERICAN JOY is a progressive stayer but will spot the leaders a huge head start. Numbers: 1 – 12 – 16 -15 Suggested Bet – DARK PROSPECT WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,6,7 1,2,3,4,14 2 1,12,16 Market Market
