Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 4, 2020December 7, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FLYING MISSILE and ASTRAPE both contested the Crystal Slipper Stakes on Railway Stakes Day. Flying Missile lead them up and was brave in the finish, Astrape sat leader’s back, loomed and couldn’t quite get the job done. They both meet again at level weights but the barriers make a fair deal of difference. FLYING MISSILE should safely and comfortably cross the gallopers drawn inside. From there Chris Parnham holds the advantage and you get an eachway quote. ASTRAPE was great on debut and clearly will take beating. With Pike going on is likely to go round artificially short and is drawn awkwardly in gate 6. Some chance of being caught three deep the trip. ULTIMATE COMMAND was a brilliant trial but the gate hurts. PIXIE CHIX looked to have ability. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – FLYING MISSILE EACHWAY RACE 2 BRAGWELL looks extremely well placed by the in form Steve Wolfe yard. Ran a solid sith in the Fairetha Stakes behind Kallaroo, Western Empire, First Law, beating home Dom To Shoot in the process, then stepped into the WA Guineas where he was eye catching late in the race when fifth behind Watch Me Dance, Em Tee Aye, Dom to Shoot and Western Empire. Brilliant form for a 60+ Graduation. Will be heavily commissioned. PHONEME was the replay run of the race last start when making substantial late ground in impressive sectionsals. ACONITE got back in the mud last start. Previous win was arrogant. MISS MARIETTA can enjoy the run of the race. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – BRAGWELL WIN RACE 3 PLUTOCRACY has been a model of consistency since coming across to WA 2 years ago. From the draw Chris Parnham will give him every mortal hope sitting just off the back of a strong tempo likely to be set by Ziebell and Gates of Babylon. With an uninterrupted run he looms as a big eachway chance. LONG BEACH was an alarming drifter last start and ran accordingly. In review the run was better than it looks on paper and with Carocapo and Don’t Fuss running the Quinella last weekend, the form is strong. SHINJU is well placed on the minimum in this grade. Trialled well and gets big weight from his last encounter with Long Beach. SPEEDING COMET is always there abouts. Numbers 6 – 5 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – PLUTOCRACY EACHWAY RACE 4 BRITISH BESSY is as good a hope as any in a wide open, evenly graded staying race. There are at least 9 or 10 winning chances in this and it really should close eachway the field with many of the early pre-post fancies drawn right up alongside the Sky Villa. British Bessy ran a big race last start when doing it tough from a wide gate. Should get a far more economical run here. MOSSERATTI rarely wins but is always knocking on the door. No luck last start when only getting clear when the race was all over. ARAGAIN is proving herself a tough and honest staying mare. Capable of going through the grades. ADORNMENT gets the services of William Pike. He gives her a fighting chance. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – BRITISH BESSY EACHWAY RACE 5 LONSDALE LADY was the most impressive sectional run of the race in the Jungle Mist and arguably for the meeting (outside the Railway). There was a tactical change announced from the wide gate and she went back to near last. Her closing splits were excellent, recording the fastest overall L1000, 800, 600, 400 & 200, including the fastest final furlong for the meeting. That’s a flashing light kind of effort and she is even better suited at 1400m. CHANTREA is undefeated after 6 and her trial was out of this world. If she can track up three deep with cover they’ll struggle to hold her out late. Highly promising mare who should make it to the top. SERENITY BAY is yet to miss the money in her career and was eye catching late in the Carbine Club. TYCOON STORM encountered a stack of traffic last start and actually could be better suited 3 back the fence in a fast run 1400. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – LONSDALE LADY EACHWAY RACE 6 WESTERN EMPIRE is a maiden in a Listed Race but he will be the best bet on the program for thousands of punters WA and Australia wide. Was no better than 4 deep the trip in the Fairetha Stakes when doing all the work and was only nosed out on the post. Progressed to the WA Guineas and was super down the outside, running home in the fastest last 1200, 1000, 800, 600, 400 & 200 of the race. Draws a gate for the first time in his life and should prove too powerful. KISSONALLFORCHEEKS and SNICKERDOODLEDANDY had nothing go right for them in the Champion Fillies. Their quinella effort in the Burgess Queen Stakes were equally as impressive performances as any filly this season. CHANTORQUE is low flying. Query at 1400m but has answered every question asked of her so far. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – WESTERN EMPIRE WIN RACE 7 CELEBRITY QUEEN backs up off 7 days from the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes where she ran a fast finishing second to Elite Street. Her previous win the Colonel Reeves was super from well back in a fast run 1100m on a Heavy8 surface. Steps to 1400m and has always looked like a mare who would get the trip. Pike jumps on, tracks up midfield and if she lets down in the same vein as any of her last 4 starts they’ll be watching her go past them late. FLIRTINI has run out of her skin two years in a row in the Winterbottom Stakes from impossible map positions. Did flop in last year’s AJ Schahill but her run last week was too good to ignore. KEMENARI was big at WFA in the Lee Steere Stakes. Might not remember how to win but is undeniably suited in this. VALOUR ROAD had no luck at all in the Winterbottom. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY QUEEN WIN RACE 8 DOM TO SHOOT is looking to extend the victorious run of 3 year olds in the Kingston Town to three after the victories of Arcadia Queen and Kay Cee. Once the barrier draw was conducted on Tuesday he came right into the mix after drawing a world perfect alley. Throw in the fact that the favourite is drawn in the Swan River and the race does open up. Super runs in the Fairetha and WA Guineas and looks an eachway hope in the Kingston Town. TOO CLOSE THE SUN was crossed early by speedy types who don’t progress to this race. If he can roll forward and find the breeze then he’ll again look the winner as they turn for home. INSPIRATIONAL GIRL was simply brilliant in the Railway Stakes. She looks more than capable of becoming the fifth horse to complete a Railway-Kingston double. WATCH ME DANCE is impossible to fault and will hold a position from the draw. Numbers: 15 – 4 – 12 – 16 Suggested Bet – DOM TO SHOOT EACHWAY RACE 9 DARK MISSION trialled like a horse who was about to explode through the grades. Will get back, will need a peach from Pike but there is guaranteed to be a three and four deep train building up from the 600 and if she is in that line then watch for the Cerise and White streaking down the outside. WINE NIGHT is simply legless on rain affected tracks. Take out her two Soft7 runs and her overall form is excellent for a race like this. Just needs to get out cleanly and she should get across underneath Agent Jay. ANGELIC MISS should enjoy all the favours in running. ROSEBUSH tries her little heart out and is better suited in this grade. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 12 – 15 Suggested Bet – DARK MISSION WIN Quad (R6 – R9) 3,4,5,89,104,12,15,164,6,12 Market Market
