Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 27, 2019December 30, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SANABREANNA won the Lee Steere Stakes in a race run 5L faster than average. She looked gone at the corner but found another gear to run past Massimo, Laverrod and War Saint. Prior to that split Tuscan Queen and Kay Cee. She should jump deep in the red. THREE EZE comes from the same Lee Steere Stakes. Shades on, drawn soft. DOWNFORCE steps up in trip and either leads or breezes. BEFFUNJAR has done nothing wrong her entire career and won well last start. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – SANABREANNA WIN Race 2 PRIM AND PROPER returns to the races as a 3 year old off the back of two soft trials at Bunbury when never asked for an effort on either occasion. Her form around Rio Del Mar, Miss West Coast and Niccovi should see her very hard to beat in a set weights and penalties race. SNIPPY MISS draws to stalk the speed and has put in two good runs so far. MOGUL MAGIC was backed as if unbeatable on debut and was left in the breeze chasing a hot speed. AMELIA BEDELIA likely works hard to find a spot over the speed from a horror draw. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRIM AND PROPER WIN Race 3 NOT TO BE MIST was annihilated in betting last weekend and won with his eyes closed. Going through the grades quickly he is progressive and exciting. Clint Johnston-Porter is riding as well as anyone at the minute and this is a wonderful pick up ride for him. MIDNIGHT SKY looks the logical danger. She simply hit the front too soon last start when the leaders folded badly and was zapped by Arctic Stream who has made the form look good. SUPERIOR SMILE backs up off 7 days and has a senior rider engaged. Reasonable last start but his previous two were better. SON OF BACCHUS is as consistent as they come but is star gazing late in races. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – NOT TO BE MIST WIN Race 4 THIS’LL TESTYA races 5.5kg outside the handicap and risks 15+ ratings points should she continue her winning ways. This is likely a tactical placement to forfeit ratings points to gain a start in the Summer Scorcher next week. She has blistering early speed which should see her cross and from there it’s hers to lose. CAROCAPO is a serious animal and racing very well. He is suited by the high pressure. DANCE MUSIC likely tow balls the favourite into the race from leader’s back. CHIX PIC three back the fence next best in what could be a rails race. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – THIS’LL TESTYA WIN Race 5 COMING AROUND put the writing on the wall first-up. Final 600 in under 34sec he now steps to his pet distance of 1400m, draws gate 1, W.Pike into the saddle and drops 3kg. This looks his race on paper and he can go through the grades under Grant & Alana Williams. MANKIND should enjoy a soft run and never gave up the chase last weekend. SETTLERS CREEK took off midrace at Pinjarra and was not suited. He is getting close. BEL MY PAGO has always looked a 1400m horse in the making. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – COMING AROUND WIN Race 6 LACEVINSKY has run into Not To Be Mist at his past two and on the fresh side, back to 1100m he looks like taking serious running down. Should lead them from gate 5 and gives a short sharp kick when asked. Last race has already produced 3 subsequent winners (Not To Be Mist, Shuwish & Bee Quick). Nice race for him. STATE ATTORNEY likely settles leader’s back and he travels strongly in his races. When Lacevinsky kicks he’ll loom the big danger. DON’S LEGACY trialed very well and should be able to get across to the breeze from the outside. NOBELIUM is in a purple patch of form. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 5 – 12 Suggested Bet – LACEVINSKY WIN Race 7 PRIZE CATCH put in his best run of the preparation last start in the Towton Cup. Going to be a query on the form considering they went 21L slower than average for the first 1600 in what was a sit, sprint affair but he was finishing off as well as anything. Can sit one out and one back from the gate and run a race at a price. PRINCE TURBO showed last start he is up to them and likely breezes from the wide alley. ARCTIC STREAM is in form and is finishing off his races strongly. Drawn well and brings the alternate form references to the race. FRIAR FOX fresh a month between runs could be a blessing in disguise after last start’s late scratching. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRIZE CATCH EACHWAY Race 8 GEIGER GEM normally takes four or five runs to hit his peak and this is a very winnable assignment for him. Has had excuses at pretty much every run this campaign so far and does his best when sitting over the speed with McNaught on his back. Gets those conditions here to run a cheeky race. ARNIE’S BOY was never a winning chance after 400m last weekend when the leaders were walking. His previous effort was enormous. BARAMAGIC has been hitting the line very hard recently and is knocking on the door. THE CAT RATCHER is every chance of winning two on the trot after more than 3 years off the scenes. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – GEIGER GEM EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,7 5,7,8 2,3,4,7 1,2,3,6,7,9,10 Market Market
