Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on October 18, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 NOBEL IMPACT trialed up well for her debut and Mike Santich normally finds an early jump and run two year old every season. She looks as though she can be right in the finish in a tough little race. TINSNIP was well thought of on debut after an impressive trial effort behind the well backed Miller pair. Never in the race on debut. PRIM AND PROPER was a huge run on debut and can only improve for the outing. KELVIN comes from only two 400m jump outs but has looked promising. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – NOBEL IMPACT EACHWAY Race 2 PAGAN IMAGE was a massive drifter in the market last start, got back, found traffic the entire length of the home straight and was never really tested. Chris Parnham goes on and he is likely to settle one pair in front of the favourite and has to be right in this. BLACKWOOD RIVER comes from the same race and in the small field looks likely to roll straight to the top and control the tempo. TRUE ATTRACTION was seriously eye catching making up a stack of late ground fresh over 1200. The trip looks perfect but will settle last. PRECIOUS CARGO has put in two strong performances. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – PAGAN IMAGE WIN Race 3 ROCKON TOMMY won a slowly run mile race sitting in the breeze and then found what it was like to sit in the breeze in a high pressure race. He was massive to fight on as well as he did and can definitely win this from the breeze. DARK PROSPECT is in a rich vein of form and has built up an imposing winning record. Gets a soft run midfield. REVEILLE travelled in the run for the first time this preparation. If she can hold box seat she is a big danger. CAPPO D’ORO is starting to establish himself as a serious race horse and a big Perth staying carnival contender. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – ROCKON TOMMY WIN Race 4 BERGIO was a big run two starts ago and then never saw daylight last start. Pike back aboard and if he reproduces the run from two starts ago is the one in an even race. PERSISTENCE TIME seems to do his best work when Autier is in the saddle and when he can sit outside the leader. Gets those conditions. GOLD ARTISAN is a hard one to follow. Seems to race ungenerously at the 800 and then come again late. YOUNG THOR should hold up leader’s back and gets his chance. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – BERGIO WIN Race 5 AGENT PIPPA backs up off 7 days, gets back to Ascot, gets regular rider Joey Azzopardi back, draws to lead and it may even be a case of the faster the better for her. High cruising speed is her best asset and she should be hard to reel in. MASQUERADE was sent out a $2.20 favourite in a 72+ race first-up. This is easier and he will be a bigger price. NIGHT VOYAGE is absolutely flying at the minute and even with the big weight and wide draw he is right in the mix. IMPERIAL VENUS will hug the fence and look to take every short cut home. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – AGENT PIPPA WIN Race 6 DAINTY TESS is weighted to win this race. Highest rated horse in the field and with only 55.5kg on her back will not get a better opportunity to open her Winterbottom campaign with a win. Drawn awkwardly so in Parnham we trust. CAIPIRINHA is a bit of a forgotten horse. She will go around a big price and if you re-watch her effort in the 2017 Colonel Reeves is a huge chance. DURENDAL should enjoy the run of the race and is another well weighted in this field. STATE SOLITICOR is a winner and will be very hard to beat for a new camp who produces first-up winners for fun. Just going to be short. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – DAINTY TESS WIN Race 7 GALAXY STAR vs MAN BOOKER is a race worth heading out to Ascot to watch. She is first-up and early favourite for the Railway and he is fit, low flying and back to his very best. GALAXY STAR is likely to jump odds on and will settle last but her recent trial was simply sensational. Goes back and will attempt to zap them down the middle. MAN BOOKER likely ends up in the breeze and gets a head start to counteract the weight difference. GREAT SHOT leads and is always in for the fight. PERFECT JEWEL is woefully weighted but a top class mare. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – GALAXY STAR WIN Race 8 PATROCITY has been going consistently well and if Azzopardi can get him across from the awkward gate he should be in the mix. The Arcadia Prince form should be the strongest. A KNIGHT OF PRO will appreciate the weight relief but loss of a senior rider always worries. Got a long way further back than expected last start. RAGAZZO D’ORO was not in the hunt first-up and is again drawn awkwardly. One more run and he might be worth a punt. JERAFT gets back to Ascot and was stopped in his tracks last start. Numbers: 13 – 3 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – PATROCITY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3 1,2,3,7 3,9 3,4,5,7,9,10,11,13 Market Market
