Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on May 16, 2019May 20, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 RED CAN MAN could be the best named galloper in Western Australia, but regardless of the name affection, he should be going very close in this. His debut run was eye catching behind Miss West Coast who was flying at the time. Recent trial was strong and looks hard to beat. SATURDAY SUN got a long way out of his ground on debut and made strong in roads late. Can improve again here. MINI WINNIE showed last start that the debut effort was no fluke. Sure to be in the finish. WE’VE GOT DREAMS is a speedy filly who went well on debut. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – RED CAN MAN WIN Race 2 FLIRTY FRIARS is coming out of a Class 1 into a Graduation race but this race lacks any depth at all. Last start win was strong, can lead or sit over the speed and should give a kick at an eachway price. ARNIE’S BOY was out classed by 3 year olds last start, this is an easier race. UNIVERSAL MAE is every chance of winning two in 3 days if Meryl Hayley backs her up. CHESTEN FLYER has been a shade disappointing at two runs in this preparation but showed a glimpse of improvement last start. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – FLIRTY FRIARS EACHWAY Race 3 COME PLAY WITH ME drops out of the WA Cup over 3200m back to 2100 on the fresh side. If he can reproduce his run of the Autumn Cup, Pinjarra Cup or WA Cup then he is right in the mix here and goes well for Brodie Kirby. TOUCH OF SILVER showed last week that a horse in form is sometimes worth more than weight. He again concedes huge weight swings to rivals but continues to improve. DARK MUSKET worth inclusion at the price. NOIR DE RUE leads and again gets it quite soft. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – COME PLAY WITH ME WIN Race 4 FLIRTINI has only won 1 from 6 but was placed in the Belgravia, Burgess Queen and Guineas. She has trialed like a beast, beating home two Group 1 winners without her race day blinkers. All things point to her making a winning return. BLACK SABBATH is classy and resumes off the back of two strong trials. Likely sits outside the lead and should be in the finish. TRUE ATTRACTION was not knocked round in a recent trial and will only improve into the preparation COMING AROUND could hole leader’s back and travels strongly in running, nice type resuming. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLIRTINI WIN Race 5 SOPHIE’S SONG is on the second 7 day back-up and should be given every opportunity drawn to sit leader’s back. Incredibly tough even race, she’s probably the safest selection. SETTLER’S CREEK likely settles last with 61kg but is in red hot form and goes for Chloe Azzopardi. PATRISTIC likely sits outside the leader and while the form is questionable the horse looks to have a fair bit of upside and improvement. FLYING ROAR will be forgotten in the market. Senior on, drawn to lead and could improve out of sight. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 14 – 11 Suggested Bet – SOPHIE’S SONG EACHWAY Race 6 DON’T FUSS is perfectly placed by team Pearce. Two starts ago won a 64+ carrying 57.5kg and is now in a 60+ with only 58.5kg after the claim. Drops from a 76+ off 7 day, maps ideally and has genuine claims to holding favoritism in this race. FREE TRADE accelerated like a nice animal last start. Big pick up ride for Kyra Yuill, interesting to see if they try and sit him again. PREVAILING WINDS is the X-Factor. Trialed well without blinkers and was placed in a Group race as a 3 year old. LEADING GIRL likely finds these a bit sharp. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – DON’T FUSS WIN Race 7 ROCK MAGIC vs GALAXY STAR has been talked about for a while and the barrier draw makes it a very interesting clash. Rock Magic likely to park three deep no cover the trip and Galaxy Star sitting on his back. Both will wind up into the race together and should fight it out. At the 1200 going with Rock Magic. DURENDAL needs luck from the draw but if he gets across or gets in then will be in the finish. ELECTRIC LIGHT is all class but this is a task. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – ROCK MAGIC WIN Race 8 DANCE MUSIC is the winner of 6 from 7 and should work her way forwards to sit second in running behind the speedy Mervyn. After the claim is well weighted and provided Azzopardi does get across she will be extremely hard to beat. MERVYN is the logical danger. Out to 1100 and McNaught back in the saddle he will burn the turn and try to pinch the race. MY DEMI won from an impossible position last week after being backed off the map. He is flying. HOBOKEN has grown a leg since being ridden cold. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 12 – 8 Suggested Bet – DANCE MUSIC WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) FIELD 1,8 1,8 2 Market Market
