Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 20, 2025February 20, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MONTE TREMEZZO met with really good backing on debut and got the job done over a nice horse in Storm Away. Should only improve for the run and the experience and see no reason why she can’t go back to back. Stablemate ELEGANT RULER followed the fence on debut but still a fourth placed finish behind Strideaway and Pinjarra Magic Millions winner Do I Feel Lucky has to be massively respected. CAWARRA backs up off a Monday trial which is never ideal, however, everything she has done so far has been impressive. SOLAR CREST took the gaps nicely at Bunbury trials on the synthetic. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 10 – 13 Suggested Bet – MONTE TREMEZZO WIN RACE 2 SCORPION RULER was brilliantly placed by Josh Krispyn at Barker and duly saluted. She proved that day that the weight is no issue for her and the best part about the mare is her versatility. This race has a fair few who nearly need to lead to win, while she’s capable of taking a sit and showing a turn of foot. CESSATION stepped out to 1200m last start which looked on her limit, but it took a nice horse in Just Saint James to gun her down. She’s ready to win now. TAWKIN’ JIBBERISH toyed with moderate C1 opposition last time out and this map looks tougher early. CRYPTIC JOY let rip in her maiden. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – SCORPION RULER WIN RACE 3 HERE FOR CHEQUES won’t get a better chance than this. He has raced in higher grade at his last five outings and last start ran second to Bold Hero in a race where they stopped the clock 6L faster than 66+ average. Icebergs backed up out of that race and won to further frank the form and worth remembering that Here For Cheques was wide and working throughout. Great race for him. BARRA MUNDY was beaten by a potential Oaks filly in Twilight Tale last start. Straight to the top. JUSTAMIDDY is no star but tries hard. PAIGEY’S TURN isn’t an easy mare to follow. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – HERE FOR CHEQUES WIN RACE 4 SINFUL LIVING is a sharp filly on her day. Last preparation she won a C3, a 66+ and then was beaten half a length in the Max Simmonds Stakes behind Charino and subsequent Belgravia Stakes winner West Star. She’ll lead and she’s shown previously she can absorb pressure. SILVER EYE trialled the house down but has now been scratched twice since. Red flags. DEFERRED wants further than 1000m but watch for her bursting through late. ROCKING GEM is absolutely flying this campaign. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – SINFUL LIVING WIN RACE 5 AXEMAN’S JAZZ was some sort of training performance. First-up winner off 510 days and the horse he beat (Missile Storm) has won two since. He’ll get a similar run and if he shows a similar turn of foot he’s the one to beat. MEMORY PARADE was disappointing last start, however, when you watch the replay (and ideally the Stewards Vision) you can see that nothing really went right and she was completely unsuited. Out to 1600m, drawn to stay off the fence and in the moving line and is the obvious improver. KNOT SECRET really appreciates the mile. RED TORI was back to her best last start. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – AXEMAN’S JAZZ WIN RACE 6 ESSENTRIC NATURE could not have been more impressive at his WA debut and then was an ugly watch last start. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, especially when reviewing races, but ultimately CJP went in when he should have gone out and from there it got worse and worse. Pike jumps on and he gets out to 1500m. Expecting him to bounce back. PRINCESS IN RED was a really strong return to racing over a distance short of her best. In for a good prep. SUCCESS PLAY has returned in consistent form. CAVALLO RED can’t buy a barrier/map. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – ESSENTRIC NATURE WIN RACE 7 OLYMPIC PARK, ALL GRUNT, GLASGOW LASS, RON’S FINALFLUTTER, FLOWER OF GOLD, DEEL HER IN (and a few connections probably furious they’re not in the above list) – this is a brilliant race with clashing form references. Going to keep following ALL GRUNT as he steps out over further and further. So far this campaign he’s been afforded no luck and still marched over the top of them. OLYMPIC PARK showed in the WA Guineas that he’s the real deal. RON’S FINALFLUTTER hasn’t run a bad race in her career. GLASGOW LASS only improves off her return to racing. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALL GRUNT WIN RACE 8 BONJOY just keeps winning. She won the Starstruck when it looked like Troy Turner and Own The Queen had pinched it. She was dominant in the Celebration Of Life Day Trophy and then won the Ascot mile soft. She’s relatively well suited under the SWP conditions and she’s at a point in the ratings where they can legitimately start planning a Railway tilt. Ripper mare. DEMOLISH trialled enormous. For a horse racing fresh over 1800m that’s exactly what you want to see. ANTIQUE MISS can take up the running if nobody wants to lead. SENSESSIONAL knows how to find the line. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – BONJOY WIN RACE 9 GOLDEN VALE won a 66+ 1200m two starts back under Brad Parnham and then went around in the Magic Millions when more or less blown up by pressure cooker London’s Image. Off 7 days, into a race with far less tempo and drops down to the 54.5kg. Can bounce back. WATCH ME ROCK is probably only one more win away from racing in Listed Company. The distance is the concern having only raced once in his life over 1200m and that was on debut. SONOFTHEBOSS almost pinched it last start. JB deserved better. ANGEL UNDERCOVER is going super but from barrier 1 will need a bit of luck in the straight. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN VALE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 6,8 1,2,6,8,9 6,7,10 2,3,6,7,10 Market Market
