Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 3, 2025January 3, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FINAL SIREN couldn’t lead and didn’t fire a shot first-up and it’s not the first time he’s done that. He is simply a different horse when he can lead and in a field of only 5 and drawn barrier 1 logic dictates, they’ll be kicking through to hold up. Tongue tie on, senior on, scratched from Wednesday to save for this and leads. Lots to like. PREMIUM CHOICE is proven in the grade and goes super fresh. SNOW PRINCE is trying hard but 11/1200 more his go. ORACLE SON took full advantage of a great ride from Kyra Yuill to score last Sunday. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – FINAL SIREN WIN RACE 2 PROPHET AND POWER is running rivals ragged. Won a C3 1650 at Belmont stopping the clock nearly 8L faster than average and then went onto a 60+ Graduation at Ascot over 1800m and won again in a race run 5L faster than average. His biggest asset is his high cruising speed and his toughness. Expect Luke Campbell looks to stride from the 800. STORMAGEDDON gets his back and gets a pull in the weights. ROMMEO was $9 into $3.20 last start and ran very well into third behind an in-form Profit Pocket. THE SPRUIKER is flying. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – PROPHET AND POWER WIN RACE 3 BRUCE ALMIGHTY has looked good all preparation and this is the ideal set up for him. Trialled super on two occasions, placed fresh to Hell I Am and subsequent winner Generosity, placed two back behind Russian To The Bar and subsequent winner Investment Strategy and then was narrowly beaten last start by subsequent winner The Boss Lady. Looks the right race for Ol’ Brucey. CITINO is the lightly raced horse on the rise and he’s returned in excellent order. GINGER GREEN hasn’t quite had the right set ups recently. SOWAR is on the minimum and rarely far from the winner. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – BRUCE ALMIGHTY WIN RACE 4 ANOTHER STRIKE is bursting to win a race. He was held up the majority of the home straight first-up behind Devine Belief and Celestial Storm and then last Sunday at Bunbury he got back, he had to weave a passage through and he was unable to peg back the margin on those in front of him with momentum. On the quick back-up into another very winnable race. OUR ROCKY BAY went around $1.70 last Saturday at Pinjarra Park and was too strong for limited opposition. Backs up into a near identical race. STAR POWER really came of age last preparation and has trialled well. CAPRICORN MAN improves. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – ANOTHER STRIKE WIN RACE 5 VALSASSINA trialled poorly to the eye, but, it’s always worth noting (especially with Simon Miller’s horses) that she didn’t trial in blinkers. Was a completely different mare on race day with the shades on and she let rip with an impressive turn of foot. This is very winnable for her. MEMORY PARADE won a 3 year old 62+ (albeit at 1400) and last preparation simply didn’t seem to handle or appreciate the wet tracks. Her recent trial was very soft and while she’s better suited over further, she could be dangerous late. CAPRE OMNIA is going much better than it looks on paper. THIS’LL SHOW YA is a tough little mare. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – VALSASSINA WIN RACE 6 CASTLE ROAD is two from two undefeated and will likely hold the record as the shortest priced Ascot favourite for the season after jumping $1.18 fixed with Tabtouch on Westspeed Platinum Day. He’s now up to 59.5kg which is an obvious concern, however, he’s jumping, he’s running time and he’s improving with experience. Hard to knock him. JUST TOO FLY is a Justify Colt who Luke Fernie and connections paid $210,000 for at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sales and who won his trial by an extending 5.8L margin. Big watch. DO I FEEL LUCKY did things wrong on debut but still ran well. PERFECTLY PROPER looks above average. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – CASTLE ROAD WIN RACE 7 BLACK ORA looks hard to beat in a pretty moderate 3 year old 1400m Plate. Last start she stepped to 1400 for the first time and finished off well into third behind Earthstorm and What’s The Point and on face value this race is probably even thinner than that. On the 54kg limit and looks to have some upside. SHOW THE WAY has found his most suitable race of the preparation and is attacking the line hard. Sunshine Tafe makes his form look good. TACTICS is only a maiden winner but maybe they worked out how to ride him? NOAHQUINTILLY is better than what she produced fresh. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – BLACK ORA WIN RACE 8 HISTORY WON’T CARE was a good thing beat first-up. He got himself into a really awkward position in the home straight held up behind horses who were taking him nowhere and once he got out he savaged the line late. Second-up, out to a more forgiving 1400m and scratched from a winnable race Thursday to save for this are all pointing to him running very well. PLAYING GAMES is racing like she wants 1400m and this is a nice drop in grade for her. MISS VASARI finished off well behind the in form Janny two starts back. EL PATRON comes through the winner producing Papavero Princess race and runs for Luke Campbell. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – HISTORY WON’T CARE WIN RACE 9 RED TORI has hit the line full of running in her two runs back this campaign. Fresh she loomed large late outside of handy type Gold Flakes and second-up she finished third behind subsequent Mandurah Cup winner Papavero Princess and Chollima, as well as ahead of plunge winner Our Rocky Bay. Right form, right race and right map. SOLDANELLE has turned a corner. Her last two have been huge and she’s appreciating being ridden cold. ON PATROL has a woeful Ascot record but sectionally was excellent again last start. HENRY THE AVIATOR is capable. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – RED TORI WIN RACE 10 FAST FLICKER nearly held off The Boss Lady in the Boxing Day Dash. That’s a wonderful form reference for a race like this and she has a barrier/map advantage over her main danger Investment Strategy. She loves the Ascot 1400 and should be hard to beat. INVESTMENT STRATEGY was brilliantly placed on Westspeed Day. He was Group 3 back to Listed back to 78+ and then back to 72+, but the horse still had to dig deep after parking no better than three and four deep the trip. Bars on is a concern? HELL I AM had no luck in that same event. CHEVAL DE VAGA was better last start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – FAST FLICKER WIN Same Race Multi – Investment Strategy (Top 2) + Fast Flicker (Top 3) Investment Strategy was back to his best last start with a massive win from three and four deep the trip. This looks a really nice race for him to continue on his winning ways. Fast Flicker pushed sharp mare The Boss Lady on Boxing Day and rarely runs a bad race. RACE 11 ROCKING SOCIETY is making his way through the grades brilliantly and punters are filling their pockets: 30th November – $13 into $4.80 – wins, 21st December – $4.60 into $2.40. He’s very progressive, he’s got the Melvista/Derby Form from last season as a 3 year old and he’s on his way to bigger and better things his preparation and beyond. ALASKAN and IDYLLIC RULER both get weight swings off him from last start but even so, given the margin he put on them, it’s quite hard to see them turning the tables? I LOVE YOUR SMILE a watch on the 3-day spin out of the La Trice. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ROCKING SOCIETY WIN Quaddie (Race 8 – 11) 2,3,4,6 3,4,5,8 2,4,6 1 Market Market
