Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 27, 2022January 30, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BEADS is a 1000m horse who is in form and maps a treat from the gate. Shaun McGruddy is in excellent form and the moment and Beads looks really well suited coming back to the short course after competing well behind nominal Breeders Classic favourite Trix Of The Trade. Should enjoy the run of the race parked behind the speed and prove too strong. HE’S A SIZZLER put in a shocker last start. Danny Morton makes a few gear changes and his last run at 1000m alongside Beads was luckless and ultra competitive. Just needs room at some stage. POLICIERE sits up on speed and goes well fresh. MY BABY BLUE JEAN broke her maiden in style and broke the clock. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – BEADS WIN RACE 2 ALIEN FROM MARS is a capable mare resuming. Only had the one run when last in work when Bob Turrell produced her first-up, no trial with 60kg at Northam and she let rip with a big turn of acceleration. Looks to be reasonable speed here through Express Time and Halatorion which should allow her to settle midfield and get into the race late. Small field suits, live hope and probably opens $5+. EXPRESS TIME has come back to racing in super order. Likely to work forward and has to lump 61kg which could be telling late. HALATORION brings alternate form through a maiden win at Pinjarra and C2 win at Albany. Seems to be getting better and better into the preparation. GARAGE DAYS is a slight query coming back in trip but he is ready to go on with it now. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ALIEN FROM MARS WIN RACE 3 HANG GLIDER was a super trial at Albany on January 9th. If you’re considering having a wager in this event I would definitely recommend having a look at the trial (Google: RWWA Trial Vision VIMEO and scroll down or copy and paste this link: https://vimeo.com/user53830069). Chris Nicoll never moved on the gelding and he score in style. Looks a ready made race horse and is nominated for next Saturday’s Pinjarra Magic Millions. Hard to beat on debut. PLAYHOUSE PATRON has done nothing wrong having won both of his trials. He is sure to have admirers and should position up prominently after winning a 400m jump out on Monday. GALAXY AFFAIR improved sharply first-up to second-up to score. CRUISE TO VICTORY was some sort on run on Monday. Not sure about the 5 day back-up for a 2 year old though. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HANG GLIDER WIN RACE 4 TRADE WAR has put the writing on the wall at his last two starts. The form around Cheval De Vaga is proving very strong and Trade War has been the eye catching run in defeat at his past two outings. Will need to find a back to follow from a tricky draw but he has the ability to sustain a run and swoop on them. Biggest concern is that the main danger looks the leader on paper, but hopefully the SW breeze has made its way to Ascot by Race 4. PHANTA has run two narrow second placings for Team Gangemi since being purchased and looks to have found a really suitable Saturday race. Last time he was at 1400m at Ascot he split She’s God To You and Kaptain Kaos. Leads and controls. KENDELS MEE DAD rarely runs a bad race, especially when drawn a gate. SKETTA is a nice mare resuming. Query 1400m first-up. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRADE WAR WIN RACE 5 OVERTHOUGHT is certainly not the most fashionable or popular of gallopers in this race, but her first-up effort when racing outside the handicap behind Billy Ain’t Silly and Big Screen was a ripper. Matched motors with likely favourite Sentimental Queen for a good portion of the home straight and meets her 1kg better at the weights second-up and is drawn a gate. There is absolutely no speed in this race and it wouldn’t surprise if Jerry Noske and Overthought found herself in front by default. Worth consideration at double figures. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN was huge fresh and is well placed here second-up. Winner this grade, track and distance with the exact same weight last campaign and looks to have come back bigger and better again. CRESCENT CITY has a gate this time and two of his last three have been blackbook material. Might still need 2000 but is almost ready. FASHION QUEEN is a great pick-up ride for Holly Watson. Enjoyed every favour last start and should do again here. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – OVERTHOUGHT EACHWAY RACE 6 CHEVAL DE VAGA just continues to win and there doesn’t look to be any reason why we would jump off now? Comes up into his toughest test to date but drops 5.5kg down to 54 and apprentice rider Keshaw Dhurun has ridden him three times for three wins. He is drawn underneath Bruce Almighty which should ensure that he gets up into a prominent position in running and the way he’s going it’s hard to see him not looming the winner on straightening. BRUCE ALMIGHTY holds form once he finds it. His last two have been excellent and he’ll be thereabouts again. CHILI IS HOT is a talented staying mare. She’ll need room to move in the straight from barrier 1 but if she gets clear air she’ll fly. GINGER BAKER drops significantly in weight. Had to do a fair bit of work last start. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – CHEVAL DE VAGA WIN RACE 7 BROOKLYN PIER looks to have found a great race on paper. There is an abundance of speed in this through Acromantula, Mood Swings, Sassy Trader and Kramden so Steve Parnham and Brooklyn Pier should be able to stalk the leaders and be saved for one last burst in the final stages. Had to tow the field to This’ll Testya last start at 1200m and looks far better suited coming back to his pet distance. Natural query is that all three wins are fresh but he looks to be going super. Eachway all day. MOOD SWINGS has beaten home Strathmore Rose at their last two encounters and meets her better at the weights from both. Probably goes round double the odds care of the Pike factor. ACROMANTULA is a 1000m gun, however, 60kg and a wide gate set him a task. PINK CARATS will lob out the back and the hot speed in theory will really suit him. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – BROOKLYN PIER WIN RACE 8 MISS CONTEKI just continues to go from strength to strength this preparation. Won the Summer Scorcher with a blistering 32.81 L600 and then reproduced the effort last start in the Miss Andretti to gun them down and win by a length. Goes up 2.5kg to 57.5kg and rises another 100m to 1200 so this is another tougher assignment for her but she is currently setting a new PB every time she goes to the races. Hard to fault. CLAIRVOYANCE was plunged in betting at her return from injury. Thought she did a super job considering just how much work she did early to cross. Think they’ll be content to sit outside Kenyluck here. ISEERED ISEERED showed that his luckless runs in the Colonel Reeves and Winterbottom were as good as they looked. He’s more than up to them. OUTRAGEOUS was an outrageously good run in the Winterbottom at WFA. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – MISS CONTEKI WIN RACE 9 DOUBLE SPICE will likely divide opinions coming from lowly Class and Ratings races in Esperance. First-up carried 61kg and dominated in a weak C2 and then destroyed them in a 58+ with 60.5kg in a glorified track gallop when he won by over 3.5L in sizzling time. The second horse Sauvegarde won at his next start to show that he didn’t just run away from legless battlers. Did finish fourth behind Notorious One and Vital Blast in a 66+ 1300 at Belmont last campaign and that form stacks up for a 60+ Graduation. Think he’ll measure up. THE FUGAZI hasn’t won a race for a long while, however, his first up 66+ run and his second-up 72+ runs were huge. He’s capable. SOME SORT and CRISTAL DANE will ensure that this is run at a very genuine tempo. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE SPICE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,6,8 1,2,4,10 1,5,7,10,11 1,2,3,4 Market Market
