Scott Embry’s Perth Cup Day Preview Posted on January 3, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 MIA DOLCE has been freshened up since her first two encouraging efforts. Only a small and stocky filly but with Chris Parnham going on gets her chance. MISS WEST COAST is in a similar preparation. Recent trial was very good and debut run in the first 2 year old race of the season excellent. PICTURE SHOW could be the stronger of the two Hayley gallopers. DRINKWHATYOULIKE showed speed in a recent trial but we’ll wait for Pike. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – MIA DOLCE WIN Race 2 ANGELIC RULER is a top class 3 year old. Plain and simple. Her backers know that she’ll be back last coming into the corner but her turn of foot is breathtaking. ARCHANT looks the logical danger again. Likely to sit in the breeze. SLICED BREAD backs up off 4 days and should win his fair share of races. ACTION FIGURE was impressive winning his maiden. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – ANGELIC RULER WIN Race 3 MRS BROWN’S BOY probably doesn’t see out a genuine 1800 so backing up off 7 days, dropping back to a mile and having Glenn Smith in the saddle he gets his chance. Is a winner off the quick back up and should give an eachway sight. DOUBLE DIGIT maps to get an identical run to when he ran down Mrs Browns Boy last start. He looks the big danger. ROYAL STATUE is up in grade and gets back in his racing. Likely to open artificially short. REVEILLE lands three back the fence and does her best late. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – MRS BROWN’S BOY EACHWAY Race 4 JUICING CARROTS rarely runs a bad race. He was caught flat footed in a sit and sprint affair last start. Prior to that was a stronger winner in 72+ company. Maps to get a run close handy and is always there abouts. MR ALBY backs up off 7 days from a Listed Race into a 66+. The only query is whether he stays the trip. BROTHER’S KEEPER made a sustained run a fair way from home last start, drawn awkwardly. BON SIGNORE could be a blow out chance if leading. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – JUICING CARROTS EACHWAY Race 5 GEE BOSS was strong first-up sitting outside the speedy Belter, putting him to the sword and then was swooped upon. Second-up, down 3kg and with Damien Lane taking over from a 3kg claimer he can lead and win. THE CELT is in a purple patch of form and was huge carrying 60kg in that same race. PROFIT STREET goes for Pike. He is better suited back in trip but off an awkward preparation. AMBIENTE was a rated moral in the 66+ first-up but this is clearly tougher. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – GEE BOSS WIN Race 6 FONTAINEBLEAU can sit right behind the speed, draws perfectly and is one of the few in the race proven at the trip. If she gets to an eachway quote really does look backable. CELEBRITY DREAM is always well suited in these fillies and mares set weights and penalties races. No luck last start but obvious query the trip. LUCKY ROAR was big and brave in the Starstruck. She’s a nice mare. ROYAL STRATA doesn’t have the same class as rivals but is racing very well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – FONTAINEBLEAU EACHWAY Race 7 SHACKLETON is the big winner at the barrier draw. He has won 2 races in WA sitting the box seat and maps to get to that spot here. First-up was big in defeat and second-up looked gone before picking up late to charge. Gets his chance here. ALPHA SKY has come back to racing in exceptional fashion. He will settle midfield with cover and rattle late. DISRUPTIVE should find the front and was game first-up with no trial. MY DEMI won well at Pinjarra and is an honest mare. Numbers: 13 – 5 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – SHACKLETON EACHWAY Race 8 GATTING has to lump a full 59kg, is drawn the carpark and has another bar plate added to his race gear but this race is still very winnable for him. He is a top liner in WA and has been carrying the weight in Weight For Age features. ACTION will be the people’s choice with Pike sticking. He is certainly not setting the world on fire but no doubt this has been his target. MISSISSIPPI DELTA is impossible to fault on recent form and a big winning chance. PERFECT JEWEL likely to be a little forgotten by the market, gets back and runs on. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – GATTING WIN Race 9 BEAT THE DEVIL maps to get every chance. He has the speed necessary to cross all but Lord Ludlow to his inside and then will have Carocapo coming across with him. He looked the winner before being gunned down late last start and keeps improving with racing. BON VOYAGE comes out of a strong 66+ 1000m race and was impressive the start before. ON THE TURPS is freshened after a last start failure. His previous efforts were good and he finally draws a gate. FINE SCENT is every chance of winning if he can breeze. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – BEAT THE DEVIL EACHWAY Quad (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,5 5,7,13 1,3,10 1,2,6,8,11,12 Market Market
