Scott Embry’s Monday York Preview Posted on March 4, 2022March 8, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THE GOD SONG finished 2.5L off Rommel’s Jeuney, Fear The Wind, Whos Me Daddy and True Moon last start. That looks like the strongest form reference in this maiden handicap and with the majority of runners having claiming apprentices and in form Lucy Warwick can ‘bully’ her way through them. Should get the right run and should be in the finish. GODS DREAM ran a really good race two starts ago behind American Troop (even though beaten a margin). Going well enough. MASARU hit the line particularly well fresh. Worth consideration off that run along. JOLLY ODD can lead them up and if she’s ever going to pinch one it should be a maiden handicap. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – THE GOD SONG WIN RACE 2 HOTLIPS LILL got beaten a margin on debut but in a far better race than this. Harmika, Critical Altitude, Missile, The Coolakin King. Quality maiden types that she doesn’t meet here. No surprise to see her go well. Putting her on top on speculation. ZARMELLA is double nominated for Esperance and York. Drawn wide in both but is seriously quick. ENDURING MEMORY trialled up well enough for a race of this nature. SEND EM trialled well and then showed absolutely nothing at Geraldton first-up when blowing like a rusty gate in betting. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – HOTLIPS LILL EACHWAY RACE 3 BRAVE CONTENDER was nothing short of brave last start at Albany when sitting four deep the trip without cover and remarkably kept coming and had the audacity to loom up outside of Inflation in the final few strides before running a big second. Reproduces that run dropping in grade and should be very hard to beat. Fun Fact: his last win was a 52+ at York under Chris Parnham. SIR RACHELOT probably needed the outing first-up. Can improve sharply and can lead them up. ALL IN A DAY was a great run fresh. Troy Turner and Colin Webster flying. HIGH PRECISION ran well fresh. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – BRAVE CONTENDER WIN RACE 4 THE WITCH DOCTOR made her Adam Durrant debut at 1000m at Belmont Park and met with really strong late betting. Was off the map at Geraldton in pre-post markets before failing to gain a start as an emergency and attacks this York race fresh. Versatile mare who had trialled up well for her return to racing. TRIPLE EVENT is always around the mark in these country ratings races. Drawn ideally. STELLA DOOR finds a new home with Vaughn Sigley and can really run. LOOKSNOTEVERYTHING a sneaky chance fresh. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – THE WITCH DOCTOR WIN RACE 5 THE VERDICT is really well placed here by Colin Webster and should improve out of sight back into this kind of company. Has been only moderate on paper this campaign but has raced in C5, 60+, 66+ and 0MWLY grade. This is a huge drop back in class for her and if she can get across into a prominent position or even cross them and lead she’ll be hard to beat. JULEITTE trialled super and ran accordingly first-up. Shouldn’t be too long before she wins one for Todd Harvey. STELLA FAIR only won a C1 last start but the second horse is a winner since in Strike Now. METALLIC QUEEN loves these tracks, York/Toodyay/Narrogin. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE VERDICT WIN RACE 6 THE ANVIL is going well and should be able to kick through and nearly lead this race. From there he stays out of trouble and should be the testing material. Second to Fire Goddess and second To Gallant Ranger read up well for this. ROCKY PATH is a really good ride for young Luke Campbell. Fingers crossed that he can kick home Alcina or one of his rides at Geraldton/Esperance over the weekend and be on a high by Monday because Rocky Path should go well in this. Always a huge risk an apprentice on a midfield/backmarking type of mare but her form is super for this race. KELORA was poor last start. Gear change means he gets another chance. ORANGE STRUDEL is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – THE ANVIL WIN RACE 7 AL MAGICO is probably better suited at 1400m but even with the drop back to 1200m he looks well suited here. Only two starts ago he split Great Charade and Phoneme (winner at his next start and favourite on Saturday in a 66+ at Ascot). Provided he doesn’t get crossed early he should go close. GATES OF BABYLON is horribly out of form. The once m80 rater finds himself now a c70. Must be a race in him soon. PASAJERO goes well fresh and while he gets back he has a big turn of foot. IZZY MAY is again well placed into these outer provincial/country races. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – AL MAGICO WIN RACE 8 UNENDING finished only 3.5L off them first-up at 1400m in a really good return to racing. Was slightly inconvenienced second-up at the same trip and then last start was fair behind the stablemate in a C3 1600 at Pinjarra. Troy Turner rides her better than anyone, he jumps back aboard, she needs every inch of 1920m and she finds a race with a huge spread in weight and a lot of claiming apprentices. Think she’s a bet in this. ABLE ENGINE can work his way to the front and stay out of trouble. Probably worth a lot in a race like this. RHINO BUSTER wasn’t too bad in the Mt Barker Cup. BLACK SMUGGLER goes better at York than anywhere. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – UNENDING EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4 2,3,8,9 FD 4,7 Market Market
