Scott Embry’s Monday Esperance Preview Posted on December 30, 2022December 30, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THE TRUE KING was much better last start when getting within half a length of Talkaboutyou late in the race. All of Paul Tappers horses are going well at the minute and provided he reproduces the run he’ll be thereabouts. RED WITH TED finished right alongside him last start and is drawn right alongside him here. Clearly not much between the pair and worth noting that Helen Harding’s are going equally as well! WHINGING finished just off them after being backed from $26 into $7. The extra 200m should be in her favour. GOSPEL BLUES actually beat home Red With Ted in the Jackemjames race. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE TRUE KING WIN RACE 2 TAXI is only having his second start for Team Pateman and his first run in the region was a ripper behind Wheatstack Thief. In that race he beat home Count Grundy, Thehuntsmen, Kenny The King, Ilzaam, Lucie Manette, Aboard and Aeecee Dame. That’s 7 of his 8 rivals. If he reproduces the run from a more favourable alley he should be hard to hold out. COUNT GRUNDY has been looking for further and finally gets out to a staying trip. KENNY THE KING is always hard to run down once he finds a rhythm out in front. THEHUNTSMEN will keep coming. Doesn’t have a turn of foot but will keep grinding. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – TAXI WIN RACE 3 NITRO FRED went from maiden class into a C2 and ran into Blazing Passion who is now two from two for Gary Burger and has been absolutely annihilated in betting on both occasions. Drops from a C2 into a C1 and after the Brayden Gaerth claim drops down half a kilo. Looks hard to beat. ELECTRIC ROSE was huge last start when thundering home into third behind Market Stryke. If she can hold up closer, she’s got a turn of foot that makes her dangerous at this level. JACKEMJAMES has put together two good runs since joining the stables of Colin Haddon. Looks another danger. MY BOY CHRIS has his first start for Helen Harding and finds this easier than metro C1s. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – NITRO FRED WIN RACE 4 WINSALOT has finished second to Just Striking (currently on a winning spree) and then ran into Market Stryke who is a nice measuring stick for these Esperance Class 2 races. Shades come off, drawn to get the right run, looks a decent tempo and Victoria Corver is riding well. As Ryan Hill would say “no claim, no worries”. HABIB improved first-up to second-up when finishing off into second behind Market Stryke. We get a good look at the quality of that form through Electric Rose in the previous event. TRANSULCENT has been getting too far back. FRANKIE BLUE EYES an improver. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – WINSALOT EACHWAY RACE 5 WATTO’S FURY doesn’t go as well at Esperance as Kalgoorlie but he drops back into a rare 58+. He was the on top selection 7 days ago on Boxing Day when being beaten less than half a length late by Westernize. Meets him 3.5kg better at the weights and so we’ll butter up and go again. WESTERNIZE had to really grit his teeth in the last 100m to get past a brave Sauvegarde last start in 64+ company. Drops back into a 58+ and is drawn to get all the favours from an ideal gate. Looks a nice race for him to go back to back. BIN SHALAA is 2 months between runs and was a different mare on the Goldfields for Georgia Grant. COLD AS COLD is not an easy horse to catch. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – WATTO’S FURY WIN RACE 6 I AM SPARTACUS is in sensational form. He’ll sit out the back and come with one big, sustained run late. The way he’s going the weight won’t worry him (winner with 60kg three starts ago and placed with 62kg two starts ago). Provided they’re making ground he’ll be hard to hold out. DANCE COCKEY is simply a different animal when he can find the front and find the fence. Lead them in the Westspeed Platinum Final when over a month between runs at 1400m and was beaten three quarters of a length by Keytrade. Goes well here. KALLAROO is first-up and is always dangerous late with even luck. KITGUM got the job done in a tight finish last start. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – I AM SPARTACUS WIN RACE 7 JUST STRIKING is letting loose with a big turn of foot at the moment and the way he’s racing he looks like he’s wanting the mile. From the draw Col Haddon can have him midfield with cover and from there he’s hard to hold out. MARKET STRYKE won a C2 with 61kg and then went into a C5 with 60.5kg when beaten by Kitgum late. Drops down to 58.5kg, sit up over the top of the speed and if he runs out a strong mile he’ll be in the finish. FAIR JUSTICE continues to find one or two better than her. BLUE TURNS TO GREY won well on Boxing Day. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – JUST STRIKING WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) FD 1,2,4,5,6 1,2 1,4 Market Market
