Scott Embry’s Monday Belmont Preview Posted on February 3, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ZOUBOLTZ comes through the Spirit Man / Divine Inanna maiden and that form held up with a quinella in 3 year old 0MWLY company on Wednesday at Belmont. Drawn a far better gate here and should settle in a far more prominent position in running. Love the way he trialled, like the form reference and thought he hit the line well enough to suggest he’d take beating here. SPRING IN HER STEP comes back to 1200m after making her debut at 1400. William Pike on for a claiming apprentice will always catch the attention and the filly didn’t get much room to move at all in the home straight and looked to have plenty in the tank. GOGOVGO has had two trials this preparation and the second trial was behind impressive first-up winner City Angel when never giving up the chase. MICRO BURST has ability. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ZOUBOLTZ WIN RACE 2 DIVINE JUDGMENT was given two very quiet trials under Victoria Corver and went close to leading throughout on the Scarpside at his return to racing. From the inside gate he should hold up and he should be in front for a long way in this. WHO’S ME DADDY has placed at three of 8 starts and won his recent 950m trial at Lark Hill like a horse who would go well fresh. Misty Bazeley calls on the services of W.Pike and from the draw he should get a nice run midfield with cover. His second placing to Alaskan God stands out for a maiden like this. Just whether 1200 is on the short side for him. ROMANTIC RULER is in a similar boat. Think 1200 is as short as he wants. SLAVICA is drawn awkwardly for her debut but trialled alright. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – DIVINE JUDGEMENT WIN RACE 3 SIZZLE ME PATRICK made his debut behind La Dette and Too Dardy when making up a stack of late ground over 1200m. Better draw second-up, better suited with an extra furlong and strikes a race without any exposed speed so hopefully can position up closer. Great race for him. WAR TACTICS ran into Supersession last start in a maiden. Don’t think there’s any Supersessions in this. Drawn to get the run of the race. HEAVENLY MISS is drawn the outside but could well get across into a commanding position over the top of the speed. CAPE PRIDE was $91 into $12 first-up. Keep safe. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – SIZZLE ME PATRICK WIN RACE 4 AMERICAN SONGBOOK only had the one outing in his initial preparation when going round under $4 but never really travelling into the race at any stage. Trial behind speedy filly Crucial Metal at Lark Hill was strong and if he can find a spot from a tricky draw he can win at his return. FINCHY continues to run eye catching races from off the speed. The Albright/Zaza Rock form reads up well. SALVADO should get across to either lead or breeze from his wide alley. PRINCE I THINK hasn’t been seen for 38 days but the Zooropa race is a handy form race. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – AMERICAN SONGBOOK WIN RACE 5 VALOREM was the target of big money in betting at his return to the races. He parked wide and rearward and kept coming to the line. The beaten margin reads 4.5L but the run was far better than that. The way he raced suggests that he’ll relish the extra 250m. AL TINA ran a big race at odds last start and with Eee Pee Cee measuring up in 0MWLY company behind Megami on Wednesday the form reads well. MARRI MARTINI continues to draw wide, get back and run on. There’s a maiden in her in the near future. ASPRO DE GRECE ran his best race last start. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – VALOREM EACHWAY RACE 6 SPORTS TALK is one of the more talented Chris Stelmach gallopers and yet remarkably is almost the only one in the team who hasn’t won a race this preparation! Stable is going super and he drops from a C3 back into a C1, is drawn the inside gate to get every possible chance and they pop blinkers on. Happy to go one more time with him. ZOOROPA went from a maiden win straight into a C3 when tramping wide throughout. Actually did a pretty good job to beat a couple to the line. TIZZLE TOP was specked in betting at his Alan Mathews debut and ran a fast finishing fifth. FRENCH CHILL got shuffled a long way back last week and with Pike going back aboard can hold a spot in running. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – SPORTS TALK WIN RACE 7 BIG SWOOP was a month between runs and dropping back from 2100m to 1600m at his most recent. He couldn’t sprint with any of them but he kept coming to the line which is exactly what you want to see from a staying type back in trip. Think he can cross to the fence here and if he leads he’s hard to run down. CARTANERA is starting to work her way through the grades. Took her a few runs into the preparation to find that winning feeling but her last two wins in the country have been confidence boosting and encouraging. Just needs to find a spot. FRIAR AWAY hasn’t seen a race this thin in a long while. OCEAN AURA won well in a similar race two starts ago. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – BIG SWOOP EACHWAY RACE 8 CERRIDWYN is double accepted for Ascot Saturday and Belmont Sunday. Hard to see them scratching from a 60+ Graduation as favourite on Saturday but if they did then she should be a Sunday special. She’s progressive and she’s your typical Michael Lane galloper who will only get better and better under his care. This would be a gift. KING CRUZER is not an easy horse to follow (or ride…or train) but he’s clearly got a level of ability. Huge effort last start after over-racing throughout and then finding traffic in the home straight. DIFFERENTIATOR went around 100-1 at her first start for Summer Dickson. No surprise to see yet another tried horse enter her yard and come out better on the other side. If Cerridwyn races Saturday then this is winnable for her. BIRKETT BOY is lightly raced and looks to have upside. Numbers: (3) – 1 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – CERRIDWYN WIN RACE 9 PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC threw his race away last start. If he doesn’t lay in throughout then he gets past Cut The Talk and as a consequence wouldn’t be eligible of for this race. Considering Cut The Talk went on to run second to My Bella Mae and ran past Street Parade in the process it looks the obvious form reference. Can’t wait to see whether two blinkers rather than one and a lugging bit can straighten him up. BEACH WEST can come on quickly from an inside draw. LADY TORNADO is honest and consistent. She just lacks a killer blow. SILVER BUGG trialled super. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3,4 1,2,3,4,6 1,(3),4,10 4,5,7,10,11 Market Market
