Scott Embry’s Monday Ascot Preview Posted on January 22, 2022January 25, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 Important difference between Saturday and Monday is that there is a South Easterly forecast for the entire meeting (no sea breeze at any stage). Going to play it safe in the conditions and focus on horses who settle in the first half of the field. AWESOME CHATTER has finished second to Hear Me Sing at his last two. At his most recent he beat home Uni Queen fair and square and only meets her half a kilo worse. Can roll forward to breeze from the draw and from there he’s hard to beat. UNI QUEEN is going well this campaign and Shaun O’Donnell should have her sitting one out and one back enjoying the run of the race. BANDALERA BEAU won well at his return. Might roll to the top here too. ELITE FIGHER will be doing his best late. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – AWESOME CHATTER WIN RACE 2 ROMMEL’S JEUNEY was narrowly defeated last start when attacked at the top of the home straight. Showed grit to fight back underneath Cheddar Bob and shake him off with 100m to run only to be gunned down by Dalhousie. We’ll get a sighter into that form in the opening event in stronger company and from the inside draw Brad Parnham can lead or box seat on the gelding. Nice race for him. PARLARE did it tough first-up in a great form reference race. Halatorion has won again since (C2) and Otheroneson an impressive maiden winner since. Drawn a gate and has tactical speed. AL TINA is drawn really awkwardly but is going well. LA GALEXIA will tuck away and be saved for one last run at them. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – ROMMEL’S JEUNEY WIN RACE 3 SPIN THE KNIFE has to lump 60.5kg in the SWP conditions of this 3 year old Plate and yet still looks the one to beat. First-up, no trial, last seen in the 3 year old Classic when leading and absorbing huge amounts of pressure in the middle stages from Heavenly Waters and Flying Missile before kicking through underneath them turning for home to go down in the final stride to a flying Liwa. Prior to that carried 59.5kg to victory in this grade at Belmont Park and should prove too slick for his opposition. Conditions to suit. Hard to beat. PIXIE CHIX has a big riding change with Paul Harvey jumping aboard. Has been flying this campaign and racing without luck. Has enough speed to tow ball Spin The Knife. VIA MONTE toyed with them fresh. This is a lot harder. COLD SHIZZLE next best. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPIN THE KNIFE WIN RACE 4 RED HOT GOODS is undefeated at trials and while he takes on some very sharp opposition as we start to warm up for Pinjarra Magic Millions Day on February 5th he looks capable of matching it with them. Very quick and importantly is drawn underneath key rival Street Parade. If Bradley Parnham can get him across without burning too much early petrol he looks capable of measuring up at an eachway quote. STREET PARADE probably has claims as early favourite for the feature event at Pinjarra. Could not have been more impressive on debut and Monday’s 400m jump out was unreal. SHEEZA BELTER showed a big turn of acceleration on debut. This is a lot harder and they will go a lot faster. Interesting to see if she can hold a midfield position. NO PEER looked good at trials and the rail is worth plenty for the unraced juveniles. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 3 – 13 Suggested Bet – RED HOT GOODS EACHWAY RACE 5 ALL IN RED was well commissioned at her return to racing when looming the winner in the home straight before being gobbled up by Snippy Miss. Gets 1.5kg weight swing on her here, race fitness improvement and an extra furlong. Looks like enjoying a similar run and if close handy is the place to be then she’ll be right place, right time. Not much between many of these Westspeed Platinum types. SNIPPY MISS has been a great money spinner for connections. Never far from the winner and pinched another one in her 15th run of the campaign #tough. SPEEDY MISS gets the right run midfield. SPEEDBIRD was a dominant last start winner. Needs to reproduce at Ascot on a day that is unlikely to suit backmarkers. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – ALL IN RED EACHWAY RACE 6 BLACK CHIPS is in career best form as a 9 year old. Winner of two of his last three and most recently was put into the race at the 800 and sustained a run. In the end the only thing he achieved was to tow the favourite into the race and then was no match for Come Right Back in the concluding stages. The big turn around here is that Lucy Warwick sticks and for Come Right Back he loses William Pike. Even though he meets him worse at the weights the senior riders are worth plenty in staying races. Great eachway investment (if they open eachway again. $7 into $4.80 #filthy). COME RIGHT BACK is the class runner of the race but he’s not an easy horse to ride. Can run his race in patches and might find himself in front leading. CONQUERED ZONE is racing well and should enjoy a gun run. TRULY RELIABLE has staying ability. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLACK CHIPS EACHWAY RACE 7 COMES A TIME joins the yard of Michael Grantham. He does a super job with tried types and Comes A Time has always shown the ability to match it in this grade. With Platinum Bullet coming out early and Ziebell possibly headed to the Mt Barker Sprint on Sunday the race really opens up for him. From the draw he’ll settle just in behind This’ll Testya, Ziebell and Olga Louisa and get his chance. THIS’LL TESTYA gave serious cheek last start when burning turf through the middle stages. Would have been in front at the 100 last week. PLUTOCRACY comes in a gate and the faster and harder they go the more chance he is of slotting in. ZIEBELL got no luck in the Fitzpatrick Plate and never gave it away. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – COMES A TIME WIN RACE 8 MISS VASARI was on trial last start out to 1400m and probably didn’t quite see it out. That race has turned into a wonderful form reference with Cheval De Vaga and Trade War running the quinella again last Saturday and Cristal Dane, Tri For Us, Ginger Baker and Crescent City all running places as well. Back to 1200m a tick and an ideal draw makes her hard to beat. JEDI MIND can be forgiven for one below par performance. His first-up and second-up runs behind the likes of Island Charm, Eeyore Wayz and Son Son were great. WEDNESDAY loomed into it last start and just couldn’t quite finish off as well. Needs cover. VANE TEMPEST is racing well. Hard mare to place with her rating. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet – MISS VASARI WIN RACE 9 GOLDEN BONNEY will be 20-1 throughout betting and is one of the horses on Monday’s program who is suited by the fact we’re racing Monday with a SE breeze rather than on Saturday when by 5pm there would have been a SW breeze. Think this is the kind of race that could throw up a result and she maps a treat. Really honest and consistent mare who bobs up from time to time. ZACKARIAH BEAU was the on top selection on Saturday. Worried about 60kg and the fact he’ll be back in the field on a day where it’s likely to be hard to make ground. Flying and well placed here. FAIRY FAST is a versatile mare but the barrier is not easy. OUR IDYLL is getting back into some form. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN BONNEY EACHWAY RACE 10 PROCONSENT and William Pike got absolutely no luck last start. Most people wouldn’t have given He’s A Parker a moment’s thought going into the race and then once the gates opened it was the only other horse that Proconsent backers were watching. Caused huge headaches in the early and middle stages and as a result Proconsent was forced to do it tough throughout. Thought he did a super job to still finish off into third. THE SPRUIKER was equally as unlucky in the same race when he was caught behind tiring horses as Lorentinio was off and rolling into the corner. Not an easy gate but Shaun McGruddy knows him inside out. LORENTINIO was kept out of traffic and out of trouble. Once he got rolling at the 600 it was game, set, match. LUKE’S GOLD wasn’t suited to breezing last start. Improver. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – PROCONSENT WIN RACE 11 CREATOR will be the second elect of the Gangemi white, red and green colours but think at the eachway quote he’s capable of playing a part in this. Strong all the way win two starts ago when able to dictate out in front and then last start was wide the trip from a horror gate. Big Screen made the form look good last Saturday when far from disgraced behind Billy Ain’t Silly and from the inside draw Rawiller can either lead or box seat. Should give a sight. BURNYA TO SURVIVE oozes class and X-Factor. Paul Harvey on, undefeated this campaign, he will have a lot of admirers and understandably so. Looks well and truly destined for bigger and better things. REIGN OF FIRE rates well for this and has been hitting the line well this campaign. SHE’S A SWEET DEEL is progressive and has a turn of foot. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – CREATOR EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 8 – 11) 1,2,4,5,12 1,2,3,4,5,7,9 4,6,8 2,4,7,10 Market Market
