Scott Embry’s Monday Albany Preview Posted on December 24, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PICK AND PAY is flying. If this was another 1200 or even a 1400 you’d nearly declare him. Only query in the back of the mind is that he steps from 1230m to 1600m. His last few runs for Roy Rogers have been excellent. MISTAFLIGHT got out as far as 2300m in late 2021 and resumed first-up for Jayden Lyall’s yard over 1200m when finishing only 2L off Squillionare and Pick and Pay. Gets an identical run from the draw and should see out the trip. KUTSANYA mixes his form but the best of him is good enough. DEADLY AND FAST caught the eye fresh. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – PICK AND PAY WIN RACE 2 FUEL THE FRIAR has come back to racing well and finds yet another winnable race. Finished second to talented now metro galloper Henry The Aviator (Races at Ascot on Saturday) and then won a C2 1200m by a margin before finishing off into second in a race dominated from out in front by Natural Spice last start. Small field suits and looks hard to hold out. SNIPAGEM goes from 1200m straight to 1600m but should be able to bounce on the lead and control under Brad Rawiller. Hard to run down from there. DIVINE MERCY is fairly one paced but grinds away. POWERFUL FORCE wasn’t disgraced at Pinjarra. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – FUEL THE FRIAR WIN RACE 3 GOOD SONG was crunched late on debut. Punters were jumping out of trees late to be in his corner, but he never really travelled the winner behind Squillionare. Winkers go on and he’s drawn to get every chance. Respecting the volumes of money that came on debut and following up with him. MAGNABURMA was specked in betting in the same race and improved sharply. MY AFFLICTION trialled super in the same Albany trial as Good Song. GOD’S MOMENT ran well at Barker two back. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – GOOD SONG WIN RACE 4 WEDNESDAY is a metro horse in the country area. Fourth behind Real Grace in a 60+ Graduation, third behind Disco Donut in a 66+ and most recently only 3.4L off Bitofmerit and Hardly Ever. It’s great form for an Albany C5 and provided she stays in touch with them in the middle stages she should be finishing off powerfully late. SNEAKY FOX is a different horse when he finds the top and expecting he’ll be ridden for speed here. PINK ‘N’ GRAY is another consistent metro type who look suited to thisgrade. SHAKE BABY SHAKE can lead or box seat and is racing well. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – WEDNESDAY WIN RACE 5 CLASSIC MAGNUS is winning for fun at the moment. Won a 70+ at Albany with 54kg first-up, a 70+ at Albany with 55.5kg second-up and then went to town and pinched a 0MWLY 1000 at Belmont when winning with arrogance. Comes back to Albany into another 70+ and now has 59kg to contend with however she’s a Heavy8 winner with 58kg so provided she gets a half decent run in transit should be right in the finish again. OUR WIND SPIRIT is a m73 who comes down as a c78. Gifted handicap conversion and should see him the danger. STRATHOMORE ROSE goes well fresh and is an Albany track specialist. Respect. KENDEL’S MEE DAD is a hard horse to run down once he’s fit. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC MAGNUS WIN RACE 6 SPEEDY PYE has put the writing on the wall at her last two outings. Finished off hard behind in form galloper Back In Blue two starts ago and then reeled off a big L600 when charging him behind Prince Ragnar. This looks her race. RED ORCA finished third behind Fuel The Friar first-up (should go well earlier in the program), finished third behind Prince Ragnar and Speedy Pye second-up and now should be peaking now. WITCH STREET was excellent at Barker and then legless at Albany. RUBANNA STAR continued the big run for Malcolm Byas. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPEEDY PYE WIN RACE 7 HIP WIGGLE chased hard behind Wakan Tanka at Pinjarra last start. Was only her second-up run and now third-up from a favourable draw she can enjoy a nice run midfield with cover in a race where they will roll along between Count The Sessions & Natural Spice. Suitable set up for her. COUNT THE SESSIONS and NATURAL SPICE both will look for the fence. Both love to roll along and break fields open in their races. ARTIE’S COMET looked to have Elite Fighter cold last start but just lacked the killer blow to put him away (pun central). Numbers: 10 – 4 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – HIP WIGGLE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,6,7 3,5,7 1,6 5,7,8,10 Market Market
